14. Outside the Inn (No tooleychris, ravenn4544, Rukellian)
A convergence of "old" friends:
Kaltar works to awaken the sleeping Ewell and Strom, and manages to do so successfully. Moments later the cleric spots Gwillt and a heavily wounded Shannigans approaching the Inn. Moments after that, Epsilon emerges from around the side of the inn after his solo excursion.

Gwillt perks up at seeing Kaltar, until... he notices the knight and the kid laying on the grass. He stops short.
"Kaltar, are they... dead?"
When the kid snorts and mumbles something about taking them all on himself, he smiles and realizes they are both asleep.
"I'm curious to hear what brought on this mid-morning nap, but first I need you to see to Shanny here, if possible. We had a scrap with some mudkins and he took a few bites. Honestly, I took a few, as well, but let's see to him, first..."
"Oh," he adds, as an afterthought, "I did manage to find the trogs' lair..."

asa lama lakum my comrades in arms. My little expedition to the far exterior of the Goat has proved most fruitful.
It seems there is a rear entrance that leads into a celler. Within that cellar i found a secret door that opened into a room. Inside the room a ladder led to a trap door.
As I listen I heard voices in the inn above and one sounded much like the fat inkeep Gustov, may the son of a motherless camel sleep with his offspring, and I overheard them talking about strangers sleeping and attacking them or some such. I was unable to make out the entire conversation.
In the secret room was another door which was blocked by a large wooden beam across it. I did not feel opening it while alone would be a prudent decision.
Epsilon produces a neatly drawn map of the celler and secret room with all doors marked.

Gwillt frowns, and motions with his hands to keep his voice low as he nods his heads towards Strom and Ewell, "That is disconcerting! Here are your 'sleepers', Epsilon..."
He ponders the cleric's story about the cellar for a moment before adding, "Yes... I'm sure it was prudent to leave the barred door as is for now; it could contain captives, but... it could also contain something powerful enough to be locked up in a cellar room. We should take our two friends here and get out of the street before our tubby innkeeper comes out with his friends."

Shannigans welcomes the request for healing.
Optimistically nodding his head and searching the eyes of those about for aid, he hears the call to 'get off the road' and quickly does so, staying close to any who have what appear to be holy symbol displayed.

Kaltar updates the others with what's happened while they've been gone...
Dave can they now read the thread or do I need to write it all out?
He then intones the necessary prayer, whilst holding his holy symbol and heals the Halfling:
Cure Light Wounds [1d8] = 7
I like it!

Relieved of his aches, the halfling eats something from his ration sack, while inquiring, "What about the cook?"

how long does a sleep spell work in situations like this? ie non combat, loose time... and would that tell us anything about the level of mag?

'Duration: 5 rds./level' And, yes, it could give you a hint as to the level of the caster if you had been been allowed to wake up naturally and not awoken by Kalter.onlyme wrote:How long does a sleep spell work in situations like this? ie non combat, loose time... and would that tell us anything about the level of mage?

Sorry, I missed where he woke us... I knew he carried us out, but not awakened. I would have been more talkative.
Ewell groggily speaks up..."Wow, nothing like a good nap to get you refreshed. Did we miss anything. Anyone dead? I think we need to go back in there and finish the job, if there is one left to finish.

The hobbit thanks Kaltar for the healing. "Thank you most kindly. Your diety is most gracious. What is it's name? What is the norm for its payments?"
I couldn't find a diety description in the char sheet page, but im sure its around there somewhere yes?

Actually, saalaria and I have had a few conversations about this, and I don't think a specific deity has been selected. I'm actually not overly concerned with that detail in this game. What I do pay attention to is that the player consistently follows "a" deity, even a nameless one.Stonjuz wrote:Your diety is most gracious. What is it's name?

While the group considers their next move, the front door to the establishment opens and O'rek exits the inn and moves to rejoin the rest of the group outside.

O'rek exits the inn and looks for his friends outside the inn. Gathering them together, "well lads, that's the least hospitable Inn i've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. None of them locals in there gives me a warm and cozy feeling... makes it almost, ALMOST, I tell ya, make ya wanna skip the place and fine a cup o' wine elsewhere. almost! Hah! Anyway.. i did get a little thread to pull that we may want to pick at... Zeb, a lovely fellow in the Inn who was just SO excited to help me, pointed me to a shack just south of the temple where a fellow named Ahmed would be able to find us some work. Maybe nothin' but it's somethin' more than the nothin' we have at the moment. You fella's wanna join me pay a little visit to Ahmed and see what we can find out?"
Re: 14. Outside the Inn (No tooleychris, ravenn4544, Rukell
Perhaps we can insvestigate hat lies behind the barred door in the secret room.
Re: 14. Outside the Inn (No tooleychris, ravenn4544, Rukell
"Look," Gwillt says, after they get everyone off the street and to a place where they can talk in relative privacy, "Way I see it, we basically have two options here. One is to stay in town here and try to figure out what is going on with this cult, if that's what we want to call it. If we do that, then we're going to have to come up with a good plan of what to do. And it ain't going to involve charging into the Inn with swords drawn, killing people who are very likely innocent but under some kind of control. I don't think there's any other explanation for why they're acting the way they are."
"The other option," he continues, "is to let these buggers all sod off for now. Whatever is going on with them, it can wait a bit. They're all just sittin' in a pub ignoring everyone, anyway. Let 'em sit there. In the mean time, we got out butts kicked by some trogs the other day and from what I can tell, they're not planning on stopping any time soon. I think we need to take the fight to them and finish this. And, as it happens, I know where their lair is now..."
OOC: If necessary, let's call for a party vote. Trogs or Cult. Personally, I'd rather go after the trogs and try to end that hook. But if more people want to stick with the cult thing, then that's fine. But I think it is going to be resolved with brains, not brawn. Trog fight is mostly going to be brawn, after we use our brains to try and figure out a way to handle the larger numbers.

Trogs works for me. will need to regroup with the rest of the party first before we head that direction i think.
