Re: Chapter 02: Aquifers & anaglyphs
Korin wakes the others and breaks out some rations of his and eats while they have the time to do so.

[dialog]I have had a wonderful sleep. This day will be better than yesterday. [/dialog]
Takes some food and starts to eat.
[dialog]I have found out more about this place that I must tell you before we head on. It may be crucial to how we can prepare for what will be facing us.[/dialog]

Looks up into the air.
Dear gods, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
Looks at the party membrers.
You see, it is not easy to get everything together. I don’t know everything yet but have with great wisdom and help from divine power, since I am blessed, found out some things that can help us in understanding our enemies.
I can tell you if you are ready to be enlightened.

Thorelf just sits there gaping for a few seconds upon hearing Eaton's statement, but then raises one eyebrow and says:
"Please, do tell."

Stands up.
I have been looking into the situation, signs I have seen and encounters we have had.
This place was created by a cult called The perpetual flame. It was led by the unholy priest Al-Yez.
The cult was focused on the life hereafter. Until a few years ago the cult was active. As I remember it hade quite a few wealthy older people as members. They were tempted in joining this awful cult since they knew the cult focused on a life after this, with is tempting for old people. Many were people amazed by the great funerals the cult had. I actually think that the cut arranged funerals for wealthy people that were not members as well.
That people took valuable things with them when being buried can explain some of the interesting items we found on the people that we killed.
The cult had flames and water as symbols as we have seen on the portals here. What is strange is that the portal that we came out from was marked with fire. The cultist we met were focused on water and not fire and also talked about human sacrifices. This does not add up.
This have led me to realized that the former cultists must have found some kind of water monster when they did build this place. Since their belief was weak, they adopted and started to feed the monster believing it was a good. That was also the reason why they grabbed us. They were planning to sacrifice or rather feed us to the monster.
You might ask: What use do we have from this information?
Well, we can use that they tend to bend while opposing great force. We started out in this as victims but does now have weapons thanks to the fight I lead you into.
We can break the cultists sprits if we strike hard and fast. Remember that they did back down and did not follow us after the last fight. If we go back and will strike down the bald cultist that was of great rang. Then they will truly fear us and we will have the higher morale when facing the cultists again.
What say you?
