Jakob

Jakob's severely wounded opponent tries to bring his pistol to bear again but succeeds only in putting a round into the waterfall. Jakob makes no such error and puts his burst through the terrorist's lower torso. He falls face down and doesn't move.

Prerna

Prerna's talkative assailant continues his invective, screaming “Die, Imperial lackey!” as he brings up his SMG and fires a burst that tears chunks out of the ceiling. Prerna puts her burst dead centre and it tears through his armour. Apparently both shocked and stunned he croaks “No!” and then “You-” catastrophic chest trauma prevents him saying anything more and he collapses KIA.

Frank and Kit

The Baron manages “Ack!” and bolts sideways through the waterfall up the pool bank and into the shrubbery. This at least clears Frank's field of fire. With Prerna's target already down he puts his shots into Jakob's opponent just as he succumbs to Jakob's own aimed shots.

Kit brings his own ACR to bear just as the cave runs out of targets.

Prerna rolls to her feet and checks the alcove where they were trying to take the Baron.

Jess

Jess moves up to the rear of the waterfall following Kit. She sees Erica's robot collect its owner from the balcony as her raised hands grip the 'bot's rear chassis and it flies her towards the waterfall.

Alas, there are some things that can't be unseen. One of them is the Baron bursting from the shrubbery as he runs for safety. Alas, thoughts of self preservation have overridden his attention to necessary fastenings...

Nuts shouts “Oi, sex case - put some strides on!” Charlie winces and averts his gaze “Oooh, me poor old mince pies!" He then opines sagely "I think it's called bein' a “naturalist” when yer on 'is money”. The Baron, having bolted his sprinting distance, pulls up exhausted behind Jess' squad.

As the sound of the last shots fade Erica glides through the waterfall “strap hanging” from the rear of her robot. She opens her eyes as she alights and takes a moment to scan the cave's interior. She then turns to Frank to say “Colonel Cross, I understand that you wanted to talk to me?”

Much worse for wear, Jakob finally stops long enough to take deep breaths, change mags, and assess the situation.

Prerna sees an open access hatch and beyond that what looks like plant/machiery connected to a large (man sized) pipe also with its access plate removed. This area has a good couple of inches of water on the floor.

Frank looks at Jakob "Lieutenant, I see you just about managed to not die." he smiles "We have the place secured, so report to the medbay, or at least get the Sargent-Major to help you patch yourself up. You're in no condition to continue, and I do not relish answering to the Ensign if something were to happen to you"

"Major East, I was hoping you might be able to shed some light on the current situation, although that ship seems to have mostly flown. There is still the incoming Outword Coalition ships to worry about. My assumption is that they need the Baron alive to sign over Inchin to the Coalition. I can only assume that you were unaware of this part of the plan, or was I the only one taken for a mug?" he pauses and shakes his head "Sorry. It doesn't matter. We are where we are and we need to find a way out of this that means no one else gets hurt."

"I believe you're right," Prerna replies. "We probably aren't able to pursue them right now, although we might be wise to temporarily seal it."

Jakob nodded to Frank. "I should be safe for the nonce, we'll be busy patching everyone else up. If there's space, anyone with med skill would be useful. Looks like we may have more folks to take care of, and we might need to take whatever the facility has so we can prepare for the next batch."

Jakob took his leave and made a decently worded account of the very minor injury for Liv. "Honest, the guy stuck me with a bayonet instead of using the rifle as a rifle. Maybe he was scared of you already?"

Jakob works what he can in sickbay, after a minor patch (and repatch) on himself. Mostly to keep his head clear so he can work on others.

Erica replies “Outworld Coalition Colonel? I had heard they were local traders”. She shrugs “Your assumption is correct: whoever controls the Baron holds the high cards. I now believe you hold more aces than eights Colonel but there are still hands that can beat yours. However, the pot in this game might be big enough for everyone to be cautious. You might be wise to split it”.

She enquires about the number of black CES clad dead and with permission checks over the man Prerna shot. She expertly unloads his SMG and then takes the mag off handing it to Prerna. “Colonel, my congratulations on something of a coup – it seems your unit has killed Urvash Gudrun. I believe there are Imperial contracts on him – you'll need to preserve the body”.

Then she looks at Frank and says “I may have presumed on the fact that you are a good man, Colonel, and my presence here evidences my trust but I would not dishonour you. I have, however, done everything I could to keep as many of our people alive whilst fulfilling my own contract”.

Glancing back at the bodies she continues “I believe Urvash could not settle for a solution involving the absence of his “revolution” - such are the politics of terrorists. His goal was, no doubt, to kidnap the Baron but also to violate our ceasefire and escalate the conflict. He reaped the rewards for his dishonesty”. She adds “I met him - he was a deeply unpleasant individual”. Indicating the strike his rounds made on the cave ceiling - which is still giving off an odd “smoke” she says “I would be very careful not to be caught in possession of those rounds. I believe they are enhanced HEAP rounds with a bio acid primary penetrator. I would advise you only shoot them at people that you really don't like”.

She smiles “I hope to remain off that particular list. To help me stay there I will reveal that my Einherjaren are outside Startown fulfilling their pathfinder role. The McClellan transports will begin to make planetfall shortly. I would anticipate that the onboard mercenary elements will contact you soon. I could facilitate that if you wish”.

My primary goal is the safety of the delegates and the company. While additional funds are always welcome, they are a secondary matter. I am more than willing to share and compromise to meet my primary goals. As for arriving mercs, did you see the Sword Worlds markings on those fighters? Another point of note is that we detected a signal between the two arriving ships that leads us to believe that the mercs aboard are Vagr, to be exact we think it is Patch, you might remember him from the fight at the Bartizan? "

I would say that Dog was with Frank and may have been assigned, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of him for the entire firefight and, to be honest, I'm not sure Freddie & I actually know he's been assigned. I mean, Freddie's part of the technical crew (and I've no idea where the others are from that bunch) so we wouldn't really expect Dog to be with us.

With the drone keeping an eye on the route from outside, Freya heads to the shuttle through the deserted upper floor. Freddie and Dog trying to keep her from finding trouble as she goes! She offers them the opportunity to enter each new space first, so as not to offend. She makes sure that she keeps a good record of the spaces and contents in case of later need.

Freya finds the entry hatch is secured.

In trying her override she determines that the hatch is manually deadlocked from the inside.

Freya notices that in addition to the chatty Freddie she is also shadowed by Dog. Dog is much more "discrete" a bodyguard - so much so you could almost not notice his presence...
