Inchin: Endgame
Re: Inchin: Endgame
Kit
Kit is able to see the reaction to the mercs at the northeastern hatch.
He hears Baker shout "I see nuffin'! No targets my sector!"
Mike starts snatching looks around the hatch frame while King cautions "Go steady - you'll get us a grenade in the mush!"

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Freya
Freya uses her robot's (basic) sensors in “look down” mode through the swimming pool room's high transparent roof. She sees Prerna and Easy gain the southern balcony level via the snack store stairs just as the balcony itself smokes and melts around the two evading mercs.
She also notes a pair of figures moving northwards from cover to cover in military style “bounds” along the eastern balcony. Her 'bot can detect them in the visible light spectrum only. While one is female the other is a grav powered robot or drone.
Meanwhile on the ground floor a figure runs away from the mercs (going north from the hatch) and is likely a surviving insurgent. He seems to shout to his left/west about halfway up.
Looking north from the hatch that Prerna used she thinks she spots a figure lying prone at the foot of a stand of trees just off the path leading north.
She will be aware that the balcony prevents her seeing anything beneath the balcony's “shadow”.
(OOC: The prone figure is obscured by the tree canopy but is in the trees drawn as a circles with a dot in the centre 14 squares north of the hatch.

There's another nine squares up - but it's not that one!

Prerna
"There's a gatling laser targeting my position," Prerna reports. She checks her display - and sees the drone. Using her command override, she accesses its telemetry, and sees the female with the bot headed north. "If any of you shoot my fiancée, I will personally beat your ass!" Prerna paints the figure and the bot as a provisional friendly on the group's tactical data feed.
"Easy, stay down, and crawl away from the stairs. Make damn sure you stay down." Prerna starts low crawling east in an attempt to flank the happy happy laser gunner.

Kit
Kit is right at the doorway from the southern room to the northern room (Northwestern doorway on the eastern side of it). Kit will maintain cover and spend the rest of his action visually scanning the (e.g. making sure there are no additional targets), he will start looking from the southern area and moving north. Obviously he is focusing on the western side of the room as the eastern side the view is blocked by the stairs and that is the area that Freya is scanning.
Looking for targets that Freya cannot see because of the shadow.

"Sargent, the company is certainly recruiting, so speak to your men and we can discuss the possibilities. If it helps the Sargent-Major is an equal business partner in the company and gets a say in the jobs we sign-on for, the others being myself and Major Nayer. She's also in charge of recruitement. I will let Dubbs and Voss know you are on your way" As he becomes aware of the situation to the north he brings up the feed from the battle computer "Sargent-Major, Sargent Dawson, it seems like the sniper is resisting, let's go and lend a hand.". As he starts to jog towards the NW hatch he switches to the officers channel "All, I want to speak to Major East, unharmed unless we are given no other option"

Please make a Tactics Roll for Kit.
(OOC: NB For the spotting roll add Recon if you have it and +1 for Int and +1 for focus on a specific area.
As an aside Fwd Obs must have an element of Sensor Ops 0 and long range "Spotting/Recon" bid for it when relevant - but not here!

Jess comments: Doubt the Baron's in any place to stop anyone doin' anythin', but yer right, collectin' yer kit's job one. Keep a fire-team of yer fittest here, send the rest to get what they can. Feelin' the party's only gettin' started, best your lads're dressed for it.Tiglath wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:23 pm Frank and Jess
Gaughan replies to Frank “The lads have fight enough left in them but if it's a few stragglers you're chasing then fitter men might serve better. We might be wise to gather up our kit from the accommodation before things get awkward with the Baron”.
Jessis amused by the question: Will I be stayin' on? It's my frellin' unit. Well, a third of it. Joint founder. So yeah, I'm goin' wherever the SEMC goes. Back ter Collace ASAP, hopef'lly.Gaughan cleans himself off in the pool and then sits patiently as Jess tends his wounds. He replies innocently “Did I distract you now?” and then winces as Jess applies “distracted” first aid. He continues with a more than a hint of mischief “Join someone else's army? That didn't work out so well for us the last time but I suppose I could ask the lads if they've a fancy for it. Will you be stayin' on?”
Jess finishes with her last patient, tells Gaughan all go 'round here, ain't it? We'll talk terms later. and sets off after Frank.Frank

Sorry, a bit late there. Time seems to be in short supply, and still using the "differently abled" laptop.

Kit and Prerna
Tactical Appreciation
Being able to physically see the terrain gives both officers a huge advantage to their military appreciation. Both immediately determine that, due to the challenge of the compromised lines of sight, it would be reckless to attempt to hold this room for any length of time unless a properly resourced and planned defence consisting of mutually supporting elements had been established.
Or, put another way, to hold in place whilst effectively blind to certain avenues of advance on your position is, militarily, a plan no one would enact. Unless...

As Prerna crawls she thinks. Baker was a lucky boy when he was hit in his ballistic plate. If the sniper had had any skill then a headshot...
A sniper would have taken a headshot!!! That weapon had a advanced sights fitted but twenty mil is a huge calibre and the barrel was - too short for accuracy with that round! That was a LAG not a sniper rifle. Baker didn't shoot an enemy sniper - he shot a squad's heavy rifleman!

"Where to Major? We don't have direct access to the shuttle and if we did they have fighters up there. We could leave on the grav-vehicles, but again the fighters could track us down. There is something at play here that is not fully revealed. All units, no further progress into the northern gardens until we understand what's going on. Major Nayar, are you able to retreat?"

Kit
Kit eases an eye around the hatch frame and starts processing, constructing a planned defence - in order to deconstruct it. Inter locking mutually supporting fields of fire were a must and that meant competent professionals who trusted their comrades. Had the rules of this game just cahnged? Cover from both sight and fire was sparse in this contrived woodland. Field defences were impossible so going prone might just be it unless...
There, he smiled, a "Tobruk" - why were they called that? The rearmost spa was under the balcony and, set into the floor, made an excellent weapons pit. Its field of fire would enfilade any movement north from the other (eastern) hatch. There, just past the tree, was the bipod and business end of an advanced squad support weapon - effectively a full auto capable variant of the ACR.
(OOC: The SAW variant of the ACR is operated by a single soldier. He's in the "top/north" spa on the "left/west" side under the "P" of spa).

So how do you get onto that balcony?...because if that is a weapons pit, it's vulnerable from above.
