The Knife

The Knife ums and ahhs for a few moments, then says "Oh I don't know! Last watch. Unless anyone else wants to".

Marching order looks fine.

OM - Just to be clear: TK put the tripwires on either side of the pool nearest to the beach entrance. I know my paragraphs were jumbled up a bit.

The Search For The Seaside Tower
Earthday, 25th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Humid

Darklin finally gives up on the weird fish and everyone eventually slips inside the tarped cave entrance to settle in for the night. After much consideration, the only feasible spot to sleep is the narrow tunnel furthest away from the splashing holes in the floor, so that is where they set up camp.

Trip wires and a small cook fire keep the group safe and relatively bug free throughout the evening, the smoke venting out nicely through the the holes on the rocky ceiling. A full meal of blue crabs is boiled up from the many easy pickings off the cave walls. Though it isn’t exactly comfortable sleeping arrangements, the watch shifts go by uneventfully, and everyone wakes the next morning somewhat refreshed and at full health.

Once spell books are studied and prayers made, the group can get started on their long journey across the seaside cliff tops.

The Knife

The Knife bids a cheerful "Good Morning!" to the other party members. "You know, sleeping on a rock floor isn't so bad when you're small. There's less of you for the rocks to poke into."

"Being a gnome helps too,"
he continues. Pretty much everything we sleep on is a rock. Oh poor Keg! You don't look too good. I didn't know a spine could bend that many ways."

"Anyway, I thought after breakfast we could go outside and Keyon and I could climb the rock face like before. Once the two of us...Sorry, three of us although I recall last time you didn't even want to go, something about being scared of heights...Yes that's exactly what you said... anyway, the three of us are up there, we can throw down a rope."

Keg growls low and rolls up on his side and stretches after he pulls himself to his feet with a loud crackle in his back. Otherwise he makes no remarks on the comfort of the floor as he dones his armor once more to get the day started.

Do we not want to go to the pedestal chamber and climb up through the oculus in the ceiling like we did last time?

Elnaerel

The elven cleric stretches, apparently not so used to sleep on the hard stoney ground of a cave. "You just read my mind. It would hard for us to climb with so much armour and weight. I you two, Keyon and Knife, want to climb for the fun of it do it, but I would advise against splitting the group..."

The Knife

The Knife shrugs. "Well...you do have to jump across to that small slippery rock in the middle of that deep pool...Then stand on each other's shoulders to reach the small hole in the roof...But I'm sure everything will be fine".

"I'm going to stick with the way we went last time."
He walks toward the cavemouth, with a cheery innocent whistle.

Darklin

Wakes in the morning and studies his spells.

So what does everyone have in their books? I have managed to collect a few spells out here but us Mages should stick together for the spellbook. Once we get time we should all gather together and trade spells. it is hard to get time to study on the trail.

Max

Rises and prays first. Complaining about the hard sleeping surfaces.

At least in the Monastery they gave us a soft pallet to sleep on. This rock stuff is brutal on the backside. I like the idea of trading spells. I have so limited time to research things. The daily devotions usually take priority. Feanol what do you think? A group swap meet when we return?

After studying his spells he gathers everything together and packs up. Ready to move out.

Keyon

The young rogue stretches, blinks, and smiles. "We didn't wake up dead. Small victories." He pushes himself upright, straightens his clothing and gear, and looks to the others. "Adventure awaits. And I'm in favor of finding it together, whatever we do. Splitting up hasn't gone well."

"I think we've already traded them haven't we?" Is there some other mage I'm unaware of. I mean I know of someone who failed to become a mage and is now out here running around with a sword in his hand, but no other mages."

Darklin

Yes Keg I am a Fighter/ Mage. Who do you think threw the second sleep spell on the Ogres? That was me. I also threw a sleep spell on the pirates that fell during that battle. So yes, I am a Mage but I only dabble in the Arcane. But Max has not traded spells with anyone since he just got here. We were just introduced at my tent the other day when you all showed up looking for a fighter to help with the tower quest.

OOC- I haven't traded any spells yet with anyone other than Andro. The rest of us just met and we have not had the time for it, yet. I am not even sure what spells Feanol has.

Talking as they climb up to the top of the cave and over the upper lip of the black cliffs, the party gets a nice early start on their long trip east.

Even though they know they cant do it out here in the bush, there is a long conversation about sharing spells between one another once they return to the safety of Beachtown again. If they return.

Once everyone is safely on the tops of the jagged rock formations that stretch out along the sea for miles, the elves spot their target off in the distance. How long it will take to reach the place, none of them can say.

The Knife

The Knife takes a few lungfuls of the fresh, salty air. "Well, we might break a few ankles along the way, but I can't imagine there's a lot of bugs up here."

Elnaerel

Elnaerel takes a deep breath now that they're a bit far from the perpetually buggy jungle while inspecting the horizon. "The tower is over there in the distance. It's pretty far. We better get moving. Who knows how long it will take us..."

Darklin

Everyone watch your footing. This place looks like a good place to break a leg. That looks far. Might not make it today. Rough terrain.

Keyon

The nimble rogue enjoys the rear of the party for a change, and he keeps a close eye on the terrain behind and to either side of them.

"The wind is nice," he admits. "But I do feel...exposed." He squints into the vault of blue overhead, then shrugs and turns his attention back to their immediate surroundings.

Keg

Chuckles at Darlin's response. Well, alright then. Good to know.

Once they are attop the cliffs and can survey the area, Keg will look more northward and point. Keep in mind that the other day when we spent the night in the Ogre Camp that it was from somewhere over there that those big bugs were coming from. We are not as safe as it might feel up here, at least come nightfall. We need to keep alert. Wasn't there someone talking about seeing a dragon out this way at some point too? I'd like to try dragon steaks as much as anyone, but not keen on meeting on unprepared. I guess for now we just start treking more or less towards the tower. Anyone see a good route?
