Two arrested for Safa Murder
Two people have been detained for questioning by the Starflight Task Force regarding the murder of Jusu Safa, ex CEO of Starflight Incorporated, whose body was recently discovered aboard the "Queen of the Belt".
We have identified several persons of interest and are seeking to bring them in now.

Fish processor suffers Dome Collapse
Thierry Fish Packers suffered a catastrophic dome collapse at its packing plant today. 31 packing staff were drowned.
This station is notorious for employing indebted migrant labour in marginal conditions and with minimal safety an anonymous source stated.
Rescue vessels arrived promptly. One captain noted This was a preventable accident. Any Captain that can't maintain their command safely doesn't deserve the title.

Terrorist Plot Foiled
A bomb has been discovered at Harmony Station, Dis. The security section, under Major Jurgen Spitz of New Heaven, announced that We believe this attempt at sabotage to be a dissident heretic responding to the urging of Shelter irresponsible government.
The various station's security teams have been placed on alert, but at present no details of any specific suspects has been released.

Deaths at the Councillor's
After the carnage at the en-Sabah house, the sudden deaths of several staff of the Councillor for Walthersland as his home has been seem as a major security failure. Two bodyguards, four other staff and a passing member of the public are dead and 3 other office staff are in a critical condition in Touchdown hospitals.
In a rare public comment, Clark Bezant, Head of Council Security stated:
The home-office of the Councillor for Walthersland appears to have been subject to a chemical attack by a powerful biotoxin. We are extremely concerned that source of this toxin is located to prevent any additional casualties. That the Councillor was spared was entirely fortuitous and concern for his life is now a priority for the Council's security services.
We will be working closely with the Touchdown Police Security Services, and with those from Walthersland. We are also assuming that this is linked to the attack on Sapphire's Councillor, just a few days ago, and we have been assured of Sapphire's full cooperation.

Angry physicists today announced that the new national security restrictions on discussion of FTL related scientific theory would jeopardize this year's Prayerhouse International Physics Conference.
Never in the history of New Heaven has the exploration of the wonders of the universe been so callously disrupted. This is a rare opportunity to explain to unbelievers in the world of science how the makers works underlie their lives and this effort is being undermined by the vanity of the Pure.
Our attempts to contact Dr Shinazawe, and his colleagues, for clarification of their position have, however, been rebuffed by their staff.

The wife of the President of Oudhbaru made quite an entrance at Nairobi this morning. Distracted by a passing bird, she tripped at the head of the aircraft's stairs and fell, dragging the President with her as she went. The moment has been revisited over 30 million times already making it today's must-see blooper.
Only pride and dignity were injured.

The Head of Council Security, Clerk Bezant, last night offered his resignation to the Captain of the Council. It was refused.
Explaining that decision, João de Sousa, Captan of the Council explained
Yes, there were weaknesses. But who is more driven to resolve those weaknesses, and find the cause of his troubles, than the man whose reputation is tarnished by their being exploited. For now, Clerk stays.

Green & Clean Negotiates Settlement
A three-way settlement has seen an overnight settlement between the company, city and workforce. Bins will start to be collected again from today. Additional teams will be out (including over the weekend) to clear some of the areas of greatest backlog.
Employees representatives expressed contentment at the resolution and the City have rescinded the threat to withdraw the management contract. A spokesman for the company stated "The latest actions of the management have brought all the parties together to face the realities of the city's waste and recycling and resolution has been reached to several long-term issues"
The stress of the negotiations has seen Geronimo Jimenez, the owner of the company, step back as CEO and the company is to be managed, temporarily, by the former Personnel Director Calliope Kinshasa while a permanent replacement is sought.

The investigation into the Murder of Ameena en Sabah appears to have run into interplanetary political deep water. Investigators from New Heaven and Touchdown, Okami, Ares and Matabele have lodged a complaint to the Captain of the Council stating that their teams are being denied access to information.
A formal notice for an emergency meeting of the New Earth Council has been called and is expected to sit tomorrow.
The move is expected to anger West Sapphire's Government who is currently unrepresented on that body.

Man-Eating Cat
The resort of Greendale has reported that the slopes of Mount Glacier are closed due to the presence of a Man-eating Big Cat. Two tourists camping at a local beauty spot were found dead, mauled and partly consumed by the animal. Rangers said that prints suggest that the creature was at least 2.2m long and DNA sampling shows it is a Male Tiger.
There has been some concern that the recent expansion of people into this area of the country would upset the ecology...it seems the ecology is fighting back.

We are thrilled to announce that a gift by Simeon Adok has secured this project for another year. Without the support of such visionaries, this project would become as dead as the creatures we seek to re-discover.
Dinogene's whimsical project to discover the genetic make-up of Dinosaurs has attracted funding from a number of high-profile donors in recent years - despite the presence of the corporation on Sapphire drawing so much criticism.

Foundations Completed at Tri-Helix
The foundations of the new Tri-Helix Platform City being constructed on Poseidon have been declared complete. The foundations for the first leg were completed almost 6 months ago, and for the second leg almost immediately thereafter. Leg 3 has now resolved the unexpected geological issues that prevented completion and the structure was declared ready this morning.
The City Manager, Oleksandr Malu, said Now that the foundations are in place, the underwater structures are expected to be complete within the year. The fish-garden will be quickly constructed allowing the Helix to start providing for the population's resource needs even as the remainder of the structure is assembled. By the end of next year we should be able to say that phase one is complete. Phase three tunnelling, connecting the platform to Kip's Reef can also now start.

Majestic Pirates Identified

Paulo Jefe Castillan, has been identified as one of the alleged pirates that boarded the Majestic earlier this year. Last registered as crew on the Mestizaje, when it was docked at West Sapphire in late 299 - just days before the boarding - the West Sapphire Authorities have requested that the vessel be detained when and wherever it next docks.
Paulo Jefe Castillan was previously jailed in 292 for 4 years by West Sapphire in connection with the Taktsang Pirates attack on the Santa Maria de Injia in 290.

10 Tons of Poseidon's Water Apples are to be offered for sale by auction tomorrow at 10am at the Fruit Market. These will be landed by the high-speed courier "Platypus" - on schedule to arrive overnight. Quality may be inspected from 9am. Lots offered will weigh at least 100kg each.

The Union Lines Container Ship SS Jupiter issued a Mayday at 13:17 Fleet Time today. This lasted less than 30 seconds before ending abruptly. Commodore Harare has issued a statement "Union Lines is investigating this transmission and will take all necessary steps to rescue those aboard and secure the ship and cargo"
Two vessels from the company departed from the spaceport within the hour and others are converging on the ship's last known position.
SS Jupiter, Launched in 291 from the Union Lines own yards in orbit around Ares runs a regular route between New Earth and The Belt. She left Sparks' North Pole Spaceport on 300-004.
