Elnaerel

She makes a halfway curtsey at Gnodric: "Hello, Gnodric. Pleased to meet you. Thank you for your offer, but I rather retain the use of my shield, so it's better for me to use this club for lack of a better alternative." She raises her shield arm a bit as she talks about it. Then answering to Feanol's query: "We were thinking about going back to town, yes, thinking that you might have gone there already, while looking for any signs of you on our way there, in the hopes that you might survived the encounter." Her happines visible as she says this last part. "I think there's no more use in going back now that we've found each other, is there? The only thing, so that you know, is that I've already used all the spells that Ehlenestra, the Lady of the Woods, has granted me for today. She won't be able to heal anybody thourgh me for the rest of the day, until I have rested and prayed to her tomorrow morning." She looks at the sky. "There's still some time to go.

Also, I appreciate that you came here looking for us. Do you have any other plans, given that our scouting mission wasn't that fruitful?"

"I believe we're going in search of that tower we saw way off along the cliffs the other day".

"Is that right Max?"

Darklin

After our greeting and hearing the Baby cries in the woods. He gathers everyone together to discuss their next move.

What do you think about returning to town? It isn't safe here with that Panther running around. And we have another task to preform if everyone is up for it. But sounds like we need to find another Morning Star and probably provisions for the rest of you. Max here has a quest that he can explain.

Max

Well it sounds kind of crazy but I was out in the woods looking for bamboo when I heard a calling in the woods. I was told in my head that there is a magical item that can help the town. I have directions and was told that their is someone guarding the item but he is the only one around it. I was assured that it would help the town and make things easier there for us. But the voices wouldn't give any details as to what it was.

My instructions were that it is hidden in a ruined tower of stone that sits atop the black cliffs along the edge of the sea. The ruins are only protected by Assamuk their Old Friend. Not sure I want to tangle with Ass Muck but that is the guard for the treasured item.

Feanol

"I'm not sure we need to go back to town. We should be able to camp safely here. A good fire will keep the panther away most likely. Then we have a shorter walk to the tower tomorrow."

Keg nods as he listens. Black cliffs... ruined tower... yeah that sounds like the one we spotted alright. Some kind of magical device that could help the town, you say... Now there is an adventure worth having... I still have 5 days of good rations... 7 more that are spoiling but we might be able to use them for something like baiting a trap for food... Hmm... What about the rest of you? Wanna relink with this lot and go to the tower?
I'm game. And hopefully we will see some critters come up to the river overnight for a drink and we can get some fresh provisions for the trip. For that matter, maybe we can try to make one of those traps we saw the natives using and bait them for some food while we camp here.

Keyon

Cocking his head to assure himself that the source of the odd cry isn't moving closer, Keyon slips over to speak with comrades old and new.

"I knew you couldn't stay away," he says with a rakish wink at Feanol. "Turn the rudder as you will and I'll follow," he tells the others. "I'm woefully short on weapons after our encounter with the natives, but I have a sword and one dagger remaining."

"Oh, I thought there was no need for asking about this. Of course I'm in! The only thing is that I'm not as used to fight with a club as I'm with a morningstar, so that you know."

I can cast a spell on the old rations to purify them for eating. We should probably eat those first so they don't waste. But I was thinking about some fish from the river. We could even smoke some if we can catch enough.

Darklin

Did we find anything of value on this trip to split up? Has anyone looked through the edges of the forest here? We found several buried crates around here last time. Has anyone checked here at all??

The Knife

The Knife does a quick head count. "There are eight of us now. If we stay here at the river for the rest of the day and fish, I doubt we'd catch enough to really make all that much difference to our rations."

"Besides,"
he says. "It's still only afternoon. We could push on to the cave and shelter there tonight. It's the way we have to go anyway to climb up the cliffs anyway. Might as well get those miles under our belts". He beams and smiles at everyone.

Keg

To Keyon What do you need? I have a dagger, my sword, or my ax. If you think you can swing any of those... the brute looks over the comparatively gangly elf.

To Elnaerel Hey! Don't go trying to step up front, that's my job. You hang back in the middle and pray. I gave you that club as a last resort, not an excuse to get yourself killed. You do a lot more good for us tugging the ear of your Goddess than trying to smash heads. I feel better with you behind me watching my back.

To Darklin Yes, we did. Came across a group of bodies in a clearing. I'd love to split some of this up. I'm overloaded, especially if we are going to be climbing. If everyone is okay with it, I don't mind pooling all our rations and splitting them up evenly too.

To Max he points at him. I like you! Here! he fishes out the 7 pounds/days of spoiled rations for him to work his magic on, as well as lays out the rest of what they gather the other day which is only minus the one torch from the previous night when he was cleaning up outside.

Jungle Cache is just the running total weight of these items for ease of me keeping up with encumbrance. I am just shy 90lbs right now so if we can shave off at least most of this almost 50lbs would be huge for Keg.

To TK Fair enough. I won't boast about any fishing or gathering skills. I have more worry about Elnaerel not having her spells for the day, especially if we are shooting for the cave. Remember that the tentacle monster is over there, and I have no idea how far we can go in the cave before he can reach us or how far inside we need to go to get away from the bugs. I'm sure a fire would help, don't get me wrong, but we need to keep those things in mind.

Looking around he points to Feanol You I remember...

Pointing to Max You I don't, but I already like you, food man.

Then he looks a little more suspiciously and raises a finger to Gnodric I don't know you... And if I am going to like you, I need to know you... Time to speak up, Skinny.

Boy, for a guy who said he wouldn't be posting much, you sure are knocking it out of the park lately.

Fantastic RPing here everyone!

I will let this play out until a final decision is made on how to spend the rest of the day.

Keyon

The young elf grins at his large companion. "A dagger would suit me nicely, if you'll part with it. At least until we return to Beachtown. I'll buy you a new one then."

I've gotten over the hump so to speak! I have to make a recording tonight for my final and I am in the clear! Meanwhile at work, students are mostly testing which lends me more free time. It works out nicely.

Keg nods and hands over the dagger to the elf.

One standard 1lb dagger transferred to Keyon and removed from encumbrance.

The Knife

"Aha! I'd forgotten all about that rope", says the gnome happily. "I'll take that off your hands, or rather, off your pack. I've been looking for more rope since I left my previous coil at the bottom of the sea".

"And an oil flask as well. You never know when you might have to set something or... someone...on fire".
A strange look comes on his face. "We burns them...We burns them all".

Thanks. :) I forgot to remove the last one I gave to the natives from my weight carried, so that'll stay the same.

Feanol

"Well Keg nice to see you too! He's OK, that's my cousin the failed wizard" she says indicating Gnodric. Then turning to Keyon "well we did need to come back for Elnaerel, not to mention it was quite boring in town."

Gnodric

Answering Keyon's call for daggers. "Hey if it will help here are a couple." Which he hands over to Keyon. Hearing Keg's comment and Feanol's retort "Yeah just got here, and I'm not a failed wizard. Never wanted to be one, I'm a warrior and I'm looking for a chance to use my sword, if you can help me with that I'll be grateful."

Elnaerel

The elven cleric puts a hand on her hip and answers to Keg: "I know how to fight. I don't need to stay at the back like a good-for-nothing. You wouldn't be planning on being there alone at the front, would you?" She looks at her club. "Well, maybe as long as I have this I won't risk it."

She now addresses the group as a whole. "So, if we stay here, some of us can go hunting whole others prepare things here. Maybe some defenses even. Max can make Keg's food edible again and he can study his spells again tomorrow morning.

If we go to the wet cave with holes and algae, we are closer to the tower, like The Knife says, but that place gives me the creeps. Anyway, if we go there, we should go now."

Still looking for some kind of final decision here.

Also..... If the recent XP reward affected your characters stats, I will need to know that too.

We can get back to the action here once I know your agreed upon plans. :D
