Frank

With great difficultly Frank resists the urge to run to Polly, instead opting for more control (he can't help if he's dead) and trusting in Sazanami's and Polly's abilities (mostly Sazanami).

He moves forward at a controlled pace, up to the planters and fires a shot at the man at the door.

On general comm: Got a casualty headin' for the MedBay, that 'bot recognisin' our IFF?

Jess keeps the rest moving up into the VIP area.

Realising she's likely the slowest: Get a wriggle on! Don't wait for me, get up with the Colonel.


Last round was exciting enough, and there seems to be drama in the offing. A few moments of calm reflection are welcome.

Freya Round Four

Pausing for her drone to catch up Freya observes that the doors to the “Staff/Admin” floor are closed and that the now fading blood smeared tracks continue on downstairs.

The "tactical pause" allows her to conduct her observations and her drone to catch up (the stairwell is “open” so it can just weave vertically downwards).

Freya can hear more than one set of footsteps continuing on down towards the basement/garage.

(OOC: If you want to hack into the Mansion security to access the cameras make a roll by whichever means is at your disposal. I assumed with access and the luxury of time those cameras on your floor we a “given” which will give familiarity to this attempt).

Frank Round Four

Frank closes on the falxman battering at the nearest stateroom door. Still too far away to see into Polly's room he hears shouts and movement from within and then a “whoomph” of a cheap theatrical squib. He sees the flash illuminate the interior.

Distracted Frank is caught out as the falxman suddenly lunges at him. His own burst goes wide but the falxman sighs and pitches forwards as a spread of gauss needles penetrate his midriff. Liv urges “Target down. Keep going!”

Looking north again Frank sees a disarmed falxman stagger out of Polly's suite. He appears to be trying to hold the ruin of his face together with his left hand and staunch the bleeding from his throat with his right – all the missing fingers aren't helping. He sinks to his knees, slumps against a planter and goes still.

Jess Round Four

As Jess limps west to the briefing room junction (in officer country) she notes Beau directing Nuts to set up covering fire with his PGMP. Looking further west she sees Route One halfway to the Med Bay and warily eyeing the robot. As if in answer to Jess' comm query the robot's voder pitches its toneless “voice” along the corridor as it hovers over the piled bodies “Caution, trip hazard – unstable footing”. At least its blood soaked carapace matches the rest of the décor.

Erica appears at the Med Bay door zipping herself into her skinsuit. Seemingly heedless of the robot's advice Route One and his mate stumble into each other leaving Ink to grab the wall. Jess also sees Prerna emerge from the Med Bay and then hurry north heading into the VIP area (via the route nearest the pool). Prerna is wearing at least the bottom half of a skinsuit.

Then Charlie makes a strangled noise and Jess sees him and Trooper King standing transfixed. Further up the northern corridor is the Colonel and behind him is Ensign Mallory/Liv who is both “out of uniform” and “incorrectly dressed” in a distinctly non regulation “nightie” (although it might be issue – it is the Navy after all). That she is still adopting a Weaver stance after dropping a charging falxman appears to be only making matters worse.

Charlie groans and utters “Ruddy hell - I'm bein' paid too much!” Kingy gurgles and then helplessly murmurs “My blood runs cold... Angel is the centrefold!” Now risking severe ocular dysfunction by trying to look simultaneously north and west Charlie incredulously manages “Sarn't Major, 'ow do you akchurly become an officer? I was just wonderin' ...” He tails off into blissful distraction. Jess is aware of Gaughan “actively not looking” northwards or westwards while removing his tunic. Camp Freddie at least remains tactically alert.

Er... "sort of" is the LOS answer. If you imagine the interior handrail is as high as any obstruction goes (i.e. halfway down one flight you could see (and shoot) someone halfway down the next flight after the "return". You could also lean out into the "well" itself to look all the way down. This precarious vantage point would be the only possible way to see beneath the flight you were stood on. Hope this all makes sense.

Freya's tactics could be tempered by the fact that the opposition don't seem to have firearms (although grenades were in evidence).

Frank nods at Liv, and hurries to the door of Polly's suite and takes in the situation. Assuming there are Falxmen still alive in there he calls out "hey sh!tbags, over here!".

Based on the map I don't believe Frank can move 5 squares and have a viable target to shoot at, so he's going to spend the round moving to the best position for next round, and hopefully distract the enemy. Let me know if I'm wrong about that.

You are right. However, you will be ahead of them in "time/APs" next round if they have to close to contact with melee weapons.

Prerna Round Four

Prerna receives a quick “Recon on way” from her team on the roof and, looking east in officer country to see Jess' team at the other junction leading north, she heads into VIP territory.

As she enters the first open lobby she notes a dead falxman – headshot at the end of a crawled trail of blood. “Shalom, Prerna!” Mr. Solomon speaks from her right. He casually carries a short combat shotgun and wears his Homburg and a dark dressing gown over flannel pyjamas and slippers. He nods across the lobby where Prerna sees two more dead falxmen: one of them has a combat knife through his eye socket. She also sees Kirsten Vitt leaning against a wall supported by Fast Eddie. Vitt looks awful and Prerna decides that the gaffer tape about her bloodstained midriff is actually an improvised field dressing. Vitt nods at her and with clenched teeth continues to cover northwards with her automatic as Solomon opines “She's the finished article – you don't want to let 'er go!” Raising his voice he adds “Miss Vitt, to you I will offer discount, but now I think you should see a doctor!” Prerna notices a huddle of domestic staff protected by the guns of Vitt and Solomon.

Frell'sake. Noted, surrendered a days pay, in lieu 'v pervin'. T'be'n officer yer need ter be the sort'v person people follow inta danger Charlie, an' yer ain't got the arse for it. Put yer eyes back in yer 'eads while yer'v got 'em and get movin'. Wouldn't want a bad man wiv a sword ter spoil the scenery, wouldja? So go an' git 'em.

Rhank the gods Jakob is in the medbay or even Freddie would be distracted :)

What is that saying about knives and gunfights?

OK - Heading downstairs. Have I heard the door at the bottom open/shut yet?

My working assumption is that the head guy (as in In-yer-head) is going to dump some poor fool at some point to make an heroic rearguard action...and the door seems to be a good point for that.

Control Room...I'm still following that group of hostiles downstairs...some support would be nice. Is anyone available?

Assuming that they have all gone through the door - I'll get to that point and see if
a) Is the door actually shut?
b) Which way does it open?
c) What do the cameras show?

I'll add info rather than action posts (due tomorrow) at this stage.

Freya sees a broken falx blade snapped off in the Staff/Admin hatch which she determines is locked.

On the cameras she sees two falxmen attempting to open the hatch at the foot of the stairs (that leads to the basement garage).

It lingers ... and then withdraws back into the pool/park area (between the Merc quarters and the Guard barracks). ;)

Moving slowly and quietly isn't Freya's thing at all - so sneaking to a good spot isn't going to work.
