Re: Quest #34 "The Search"
Bringing the steel weapons along for trade is a great idea, but only if they can actually be carried by someone.
Now that I see specific locations on the inventory lists, I can break this down a little more.
Feanol has a 4 STR, with a -25 pound weight allowance. That means she can ONLY carry the basic necessities. (we already talked about this when you rolled her up)
This is what I would consider necessary: (besides clothing, about 10 pounds of easily carried stuff)
1 Spellbook
5 Sheets of Parchment
1 Backpack
1 Bedroll
1 Flint/Steel/Tinderbox
This is what I would consider too heavy: (21 pounds of extras)
6 Daggars 6
2 Wks Iron Rats 15
If you wanted to change the 6 pounds of daggers into some slim throwing knives, I would allow her to carry 4 of them on a bandolier or something similar. (as I have done with a few other characters) If she wants the full 2 weeks of rations, she will need to have someone else carry them for her.
I haven't gone through the other sheets as closely yet, but this issue will need to be sorted out before we get started.

OK, I'll take that change. I'll give the two remaining daggers back to Darklin, as he gave them to me. I'll stash my rations here and Gnodric and I will share the 2 wks he's carrying.

Right on.
I hope you can see where I am coming from on this.
If I dont find any other red flags, I will get this thing moving along here shortly.

The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Misty, Buggy
Though the idea of bringing extra items to trade was sound, the newcomer Gnodric isn't willing to become the party's pack mule, risking his own safety only to carry more weight than he feels comfortable with. After another trip back to their tents, to leave behind extra supplies and weight, the party finally seems ready to depart, realistically.
Their short delay has allowed the towns water gatherers to slip out ahead of them. Heading up the beach. Marge and 6 young girls, all carrying their bucket yokes across their shoulders, can be seen about a half mile ahead on the soft sand. After an hours time spent trailing them, the party of five makes up about half the distance as they toil through the hot sand with their heavy packs. Anyone traveling this way before notices that the lead group is getting quite close to the disturbances in the sand that they witnessed the last few times they traveled this way.
Actions?
Darklin Sylvanas AC4 8/8 1/1 CL, DM, RM
Feanol AC10 4/4 1/1 CL, DM, RM
Max AC2 8/8 CL 2/2 MU 1/1 CL, DM, RM

Yells out Marge wait up. We need to talk. Danger ahead.
He hurries forward trying to get Marge's attention before they get to the Octo-Squids trap.

The young elf looks around seeing the events unfolding. "So what's over there that we're trying to avoid by skirting the tree line?"

The Knife
The Knife struggles to lift his pack. After yet another rethink, he removes a few more items from his pack and returns them to the tent. Then he sets out with the others.
"Can't say I'm looking forward to eating these dried rations", says the gnome as they all trudge along. "But it's going to be better than carrying them".
As the party comes upon Marge and the other water-carriers, The Knife wonders what to do. "Make noise. We have to make lots of noise. Get them to look this way. It's the only way to warn them." He starts to shout loudly and wave his arms around.

Seeing that the water gatherers are heading right for the disturbed area in the sand, Darklin rushes forward trying to catch them before they get any closer, he waves his arms and shouts out loudly to them, but they are still a little too far away to hear the elf.
The Knife sees what is about to happen as well, urging the others to shout out as loud as they can to try to grab the attention of the women. He takes a few steps backwards, behind Gnodric, and starts waving his little arms around and shouting, hoping Feanol, Max, and Gnodric will join him in his efforts.

Darklin
Stops and gauges the distance. Reaches back and grabs his long bow. Draws back his bow as far as he can and launches an arrow as far ahead of the gathers as he can to get them alarmed.
[1d20+3]=11+3=14 Long Bow WArning shot
If you need it. Just trying to stick an arrow in the ground in front of the gathers to scare them a little so they look around.
OOC- Everyone check your spellbooks in Unseen Servant they are messed up.

Seeing that at least Darklin feels there is danger on the beach drops his staff and readies his bow. He watches the disturbed area and is ready to fire.

The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Warm, Misty, Buggy
Darklin stops running towards the women as soon as he is within bow range. He lofts an arrow high in the air that lands in the disturbed sand, right in front of the water crew. This action causes Marge stop dead in her tracks. All of the girls look back at the oncoming party, their faces turning from curiosity to grave concern.
Darklin calls out to them, but they are still out of range to understand his words.
TK stands behind Feanol, Max, and Gnodric, but none of them humor the gnome by joining in with his shouting and waving. The poor little gnomes words are drowned out by the surf and the breeze before they even reach where Darklin is, well ahead of the others, so he can be sure that Marge hasn't heard them either. Yet, for some reason, the woman seems to heed his warning all the same.
She throws her arms in the air, shouting something back to Darklin, though even with his superior elven hearing, he is still unable to comprehend her muffled words.

"Good! They've seen him" The Knife says. "But we need to catch up with them quickly. There's still dangerous stuff in those trees".
"We don't want them to get attacked by a pack of those baboons instead."
The Knife picks up his pack from the sand hoists it onto his shoulders and sets off down the beach again.

The Search For The Seaside Tower
Waterday, 24th of Goodmonth

Hurrying to catch up with Darklin, the party arrives at the sandy disturbance just as Marge starts to vent.
"So what's the meaning of all this anyway? We're a wastin time here! Where's this danger yer yelling about? Do you think we're afraid of a little disturbance in the sand? We've marched this route fer months now, and we aint about to stop cuz a some big red letters in the sky and a little spot of messed up sand! Ya think we're afraid a sand?"
Anyone looking over the disturbed area in the sand who has passed this way before can see a significant change to the beaches layout. Where there was once a distinct pattern in the sand that looked like a pair of covered ruts leading from the water to the tree line is now a much wider area of multiple freshly buried ruts. It is easy to make out at least three sets of these ruts, and possibly more. The original area of the disturbed sand has increased in size by at least three fold, and the path into the jungle that was being used as a detour around the danger is now well beyond the outer edge of the disturbance.
The water gatherers seem almost eager to continue their task of heading to the river. Marge shouts out again.
"I dont even see no danger! Come on girls! We aint got time fer this here nonsense!"
