You can't bring up the powerplant because you haven't mended it yet! ;)

No one apart from Jess and a "mysterious gentleman caller" who she tries to keep cloistered in her suite of SNCO "offices" on the upper (eastern) garage section. Whilst he good naturedly undergoes an amount of "enforced mysteriousness" Freya thinks that "the gentleman" sounds a lot like Sergeant Darragh Gaughan of the Guards.

The good news is that Freya could likely fire the ship to ship missiles on the gunship's missile rack with minimal power but they'd realistically need guidance from somewhere else. She could also likely fire any of the CPR auto weapons on board if she was familiar with them but alas this ride ain't going anywhere without a day's work.

Frank

Frank is woken by, amongst everything else (see below), by Liv hammering on his door. She is wearing a fetching set of either lingerie or a negligee but he's far too much of a gent to check (and his handy Haynes Manual on Webbing (female) is out of reach on the shelf – blast!) He's grateful that Polly “had an early thing” and had slept “at hers” – he'd never explain this! Liv drags him to the main corridor junction while he struggles to get half into his vacc suit and exclaims “General Quarters! They're swimming through the walls!” as that all begins to make perfect nonsense Frank hears the distinctive sound of someone rapidly emptying the clip of an issue automatic. Grunts, curses and screams blend through the concussive impact of two grenade detonations close enough to waft the skirts of his smoking jacket/teddy nightie (were he wearing either).

The visual processing part of his brain tries to keep up with the audio input as he wonders whether he should have had seconds on the port and Stilton. From the junction looking to his right (west in officer country) he sees Prerna and Erica just beyond the next junction both wearing "at least the bottom half" of skin suits. Ruddy port! Frank rubs his eyes to check reality as both "scantily clad" women empty their sidearms towards the (smaller) pool room. With arterial spray and screams as testament to their ballistic skill the two women drop the front rank of falx wielding men who charge them but are then engaged by more swordsmen. Two grenades arc over their heads to strike the two merc guards to the VIP quarters drawn to the “crossroads” either by the disturbance or the presence of half naked female colleagues. Both men go down hard and Frank is horrified to realise that both wear chevrons.

Frank is aware of more sounds of disturbance to the north.

He hears and then tries to unsee a naked Jakob rounding the corner wielding a cutlass and shouting phonetics that are lost in the explosions and gunfire.

Looking left (east) in the far distance he sees the far lift doors open and a mob of swordsmen spill out into the barracks. A pair immediately separate off and, as one forces the door open, another hurls a grenade into the nearest dormitory!

Jakob sends Liv to rouse Frank (Yeah, he was clear wasn't he? He's almost certain he left the “a” off "rouse"...?) As he leaves his room he sees Skip and Able, fully armoured and doubling south to the corridor junction below his room. Then he sees Prerna and Erica half wearing skinsuits facing west and unloading their sidearms towards the pool room as two hand grenades arc neatly into the junction. Skip and Abel are caught in the blast and go down hard. He sees five(!) of those charging Prerna and Erica go down but more swordsmen follow on to attack the two women!

Prerna and Erica

Almost immediately they leave Prerna's room and head west through "officer country" (towards the pool) Prerna and Erica find the problem that they appear to have pre-emptively reacted to.

The door to "poolside" (and the lifts) opens and they are confronted by a group of angry individuals predominantly armed with the distinctive "falxes" that the unit discovered in Startown and the tank ambush on the Processional. They don't seem pleased to see you. Indeed, their unfriendliness is confirmed when they charge!

In the subdued/night illumination of your quarters they don't seem to be heavily armoured and Prerna registers that, oddly, they are all soaking wet. The women level their sidearms and unload into the falx wielding mob.

Prerna drops her first with a headshot that clips his skull and, tracking across the front rank, puts the last of her clip into another's pelvis – he just folds unnaturally and doesn't get up. His fanatical comrade wildly takes a two handed grip on his falx and, as Prerna's automatic locks open and empty, screams in pain as his knee joint savagely disarticulates. He drops at her feet in an agonised mewling mess.

Erica fires controlled bursts from her gauss pistol. Groups of needles sigh downrange and silently tear the left arm off one attacker and pulverise the femur of another. They both die screaming. As the next swordsman reaches her she drops her empty pistol and adopts a fighting stance.

Jess and Freya

Jess is wandering what to do with an excess Guard Sergeant (although he had brought her a nicely done up Inchin falx and a tasty brandy) when things got “more alarming”. She was mostly into her CES when the hatch from the main corridor popped and the sentry from Skip's crew (Ink) urgently shouted “Sergeant Major!” Then something metallic bounced off the floor and exploded and Ink was thrown back against the far wall. He lay still and blood leaked from under his breastplate.

Depending where she's tinkering Freya either sees or just hears this.

As Jess got functionally if not fully kitted up Gaughan looked out eastwards and then, unbuttoning his “walking out” tunic, he stepped out! Taking post at the door Jess spotted a group of falx wielding fanatic types from Startown at the eastern lift entrance. Gaughan eyes the approaching mob with apparent amusement and takes a big pull on Jess'(!) bottle. He catches the tip of the falx on the metal clad wall and, as he applies his great strength to drag it forward, the metal makes a hideous wail. He then smashes the bottle against the other wall and hefts the jagged end as a brutal dagger. As the saturnine velvet of his growl carries down the corridor he asks “Ye dear auld revolutionary loves … have ye yet to see an angry man?” The advancing mob of swordsmen check their advance and momentarily stop.

Having no hand to hand skills at all, Prerna steps back behind Erica while she reloads her pistol. She then reengages with the fresh magazine.

Frank keys his comms to all channels, including those we used to communicate with the baronial guard

"All units, to arms, we are under attack from sword wielding star-towners! Captain Dallas, you're with me, we need to secure the delegates, all other units protect our quarters"

He finishes putting on his tailored vacc suit, grabs his sword and gauss pistol and rifle and heads north to protect the VIP entrance, he says to Liv "The VIPs, I'd appreciate your help until Skip arrives"

Frank won't hesitate use lethal force using the most appropriate weapon he has, being more concerned with those with grenades.

Jess broadcasts on the troop channel, re-emphasising Frank's words: Falxmen with grenades inside the walls. All personnel to arms. Repeat, grenades used. Be aware. as she runs to the aid of Gaughan, snatching up one of the pirate carbines to give him.

Freya, Luv, I've got casualties, fetch a medkit for me, wouldja? Should be one in the vehicles if there isn't one in the boat.

Darragh may have given the mob pause, but that won't last. Jess drops the spare carbine, brings up her ACR and fires on auto into the enemy before they rally.

Ideally she'll fire HE, if she had time to select the magazine. Lower penetration for shooting inside our own barracks.

Tries to interface to the internal camera system...lets see what's going on in the barracks...or is the security software totally compromised?

Someone said the intruders are wet...you remember that door at the firing range that led to the water supply under the Guard's quarters...could they have got in that way and then got to the lifts somehow?

Quick check outside on the drone...any sign of reinforcements being flown in - or driving?

Anyone heard from the Guard? Dubs? And who's on watch on the Roof

His goblet wouldn't hold still enough to pour; he gave up and gulped from the bottle.

The Marine recruiter had been by, to ask if Jake's records could be "amended" enough to pass. He hated Marines, they took promising young men and women and twisted them to their evil needs. Fifteen years as a guidance counselor, innumerable students, parents, recruiters, and others asking for records to be "amended". Never once!

He had run the boy through a full psych exam. He knew what had happened to the boy. His hands shook as he updated Jake's records. It was better, this way. Let the Marines take the risk.



Jakob ran to the intersection. His brain immediately processed that Skip and Able were down hard. Prerna and Erica were active and about to be over run.

It was a target rich environment. They weren't human. Neither was he. They were targets. He was destruction.

Jakob slid to whichever of Skip or Able seemed less damaged. They had weapons.

Decision Tree:
Attack [2d6] = 9
Numbers in parens (+2) modify the base roll.
If Striker Morale Rules are being used, Jakob has a +3 (Morale 15) on number of attacks.

1. If there are lots of enemy facing Erica and Prerna:
1.a. If they are close, Jakob will grab grenades and toss them behind the falxmen. (+1) Enemy bodies will shield the girls.
1.b. If they are far, Jakob will use the grenade launcher. (+2)

2. If there are a few enemy facing Erica and Prerna:
2.a. Jakob will yell "Girls: Move right" and use either lacar (+3) or ACR (+2) (full auto?) from Skip/Able and mow down the enemy.

More updates tonight but as a guide:

We're in Snapshot AHL mode for this section which should hopefully give you more tactical choices and a much better tactical "feel".

I will choose "optimal fit" for your actions as posted but please amend if you wish.

Broadly you get 6 Action points a 15 second turn so you can move six squares on the map or stand still and do aimed fire once (no penalty) or snapshoot twice at -2 to Hit. However, you do get auto fire and Dex bonuses plus your skill.

There is a also mechanic for "Rapid Fire" (thanks to joertexas for prompting me! :D ).

p.32 Bk 4 gives (Voluntary) Panic Fire.

Slug throwers at Med range or less. Uses all rounds in the weapon. Three shots at a DM of -2.

If your mag is ~20 rds (or full) I'll give a +1 autofire bonus.

...but then you are empty - and if you miss likely in melee! :o

Hint any who are high Dex and high skill and/or have auto fire can rock n' roll here and cut loose with snap shots or rapid fire.

You might need to - because Charlie is very definitely "in the wire". :twisted:

Frank has +2 from dex and +2 from skill, I'm thinking he would do snap fire with his gauss rifle. I forgot to grab a second mag, so he's got the 40 in the rifle. He's trying to reach and protect the delegates so he'd ideally like to have some ammo when he gets there, but I can see him using rapid fire if the was a huge number of targets to clear to reach them. I bow to your superior knowledge of these things, and will be happy if you think that's not what a guy with his experience would do

EDIT: And I don't like the term 'panic fire', I don't think it would look good for the CO to be doing that, short, controlled, (snap) bursts is a far better example to be setting ;)

Jess: You get a choice: Do I come to you with the aid kit, cover your garage flank or move to flank the bunch at the far end of the corridor via the garage?

Yes, Top Left. :oops:

Good point made though - in the description of the action I used left and right from the PC's perspective (hopefully adding NSEW orientation too for clarity). However do check the map! ;)
