Inchin: Endgame
Re: Inchin: Endgame
Sometime after dinner, Prerna reappears with Erica in tow. The pair sit down in the officer's lounge after having fortified themselves with mid rats. The major is practically glowing, and she frequently glances at her partner as they eat.

Jakob is likely somewhere around. He spends a lot of time making notes on training plans, writing up budgets for different types of special courses, and reading.
Re: Inchin: Endgame
Frank sits in the officers lounge, writing his daily report when he sees Prerna and Erica enter.
He looks up, "Good evening Majors" he says with a smile.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Erica, who appears to be in an entirely blissful state, returns Frank's smile "Good evening, Colonel Cross" she cheerfully acknowledges Jakob with a nod "Lieutenant Domici, thank you both for your hospitality and your wisdom in Startown. I hope that between us we have secured a very necessary peace for the people there".
Re: Inchin: Endgame
"Thank you," Jakob replied. He glanced at Prerna, and then turned back to Erica. His smile at the two of them was truly warm. "Peace is great, but let's talk about important stuff. The guest list needs to be vetted by the bride, but assume you two are on it. I'm not sure of the schedule, but I'll let you know as soon as I can."
He turned to Frank. "That goes for you too, sir. I have a lot of details to work out, but will keep everyone informed."
For a moment Jakob went back to his studies, and then he grinned. "Of course, if any of you want to make it a double, or triple, event, I've got connections back on Collace. Heck, even Sergeant Henker is looking positively happy lately. I need to review that logistics plan."

Frank
"Thank you, Lieutenant, I appreciate the invite and any opportunity for a celebration, especially when it comes to the marriage of two people that I hope to call friends for a very long time. Although, I don't think Polly is quite ready for marriage yet. Major East, I hope the people of Inchin get a chance at a better life too. I hate to talk shop, but I was wondering if you might be able to provide an indication of the timescales of the remainder of your employers plan, and while I'm asking, do you know anything about the McClellan ships that have just entered the system." he gives Erica his most innocent smile.
edit: added a slightly more enthusiastic response to Jakob's invite.

Prerna blushes an alarming shade of red as she nods. "Of course we will come, and, yes," she glances at Erica, "I think we'd like to be married then, as well."Leitz wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 11:29 am For a moment Jakob went back to his studies, and then he grinned. Jakob set the comp down, and struggled for a moment. When he finally met Prerna's gaze, his eyes were moist. "I had a crappy childhood, and d**m few real friends. I take care of those who stand with me. Consider your wedding arrangements to be my gift to the two of you."
He picked up his comp, and seemed to speak to it. "Just keep in mind that my people like to get all huggy and in your personal space. I'm still getting used to it myself. Enjoy the moment, and drink the wine; it's always good."
OOC
For those that don't know, the Domici are an interstellar "family", in the "spread out, organized, and maybe sometimes criminal" sense of the word. Not all, of course, but enough to warrant the rumors.

Erica replies to Frank “While I'm contractually not at liberty to discuss the details I would currently estimate a conclusion to our mutual deployment within approximately 48 hours local time. I will offer what insight I may within professional restrictions and clearly my presence here underwrites my confidence in the durability of our truce”.
She seems momentarily taken aback by Jakob's offer but instinctively replies “Jakob that is a handsome gift. My career has been somewhat solitary until recently and so your words mean a lot to me. Excuse me one moment” she retrieves a bottle from Prerna's room and hands it to Jakob “A first wedding gift for you and Liv. Please enjoy it when you may”.
Jakob sees that the bottle is "Nacrolethe" an intoxicating yet so well refined beverage as to have no side effects. It is rumoured to be so fabulously expensive as to be a negotiable currency in District 268.

Jess has been sitting quietly in the lounge since the meeting broke up. She does indeed look happy, sprawled in one of the comfortable chairs watching the helmet cam footage of the race on her comm with a drink in her hand and dust in her hair. I'll be happy to give yer away, but yer not gettin' me in a dress anytime soon.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Jakob had stood when Erica returned, and he had paled slightly when she presented the bottle. He gently set it on the table, his fingertips lingering for a moment. He let her read his eyes. "For some, wine is a gift. For a Domici, it is the life-blood of the family relationship."
He faced her squarely, relaxed, and held his hands low, palms outward. His voice was low. "Our family cultures are different. In mine, they hug. A lot. My sister who has been alone too long may not yet feel comfortable with a brother who understands. When she is, her brother's arms will be open to her and her family."
OOC: Not sure if Erica is the huggy type, and Jakob understands.
He smiled, and then commed Liv. "Darling, can you join us in the lounge? Critical matter that needs your attention."
When Liv showed up, Jakob pointed at the bottle. "We are doing a double ceremony with Erica and Prerna. Our gift to them, that's their gift to us. I think we're going to have to up our game to make things right."

Erica replies “The way you greet someone determines how he will welcome you”. She steps up to Jakob and rises up just a little to kiss him on both cheeks before giving him a hug.
When Liv arrives she is both delighted by the news and impressed by the bottle. She smiles at Erica “Narcolethe, you are both “old school” and classy all rolled into one Ms. East! Thank you!” Erica gets another hug from Liv who then goes on to explain to Jakob “This stuff is not only expensive but you have to be connected to even be able to access it. In 268 it is a hard currency in its own right and the traditional medium of exchange in the Intelligence community”. She rolls her eyes in exasperation “Smith refused to even let me try sourcing it!”

Jakob's hug quickly escaped the bounds of "professionals doing a formal thing" and dove straight into "brother making sure his sister knows how deeply he cares".
He stepped back and had to clear his eyes. "Crap, I think I'm looking forward to your wedding more than I was looking forward to my own. Uh, don't tell Liv, okay? I was just sort of making assumptions, but now I want it to be even better."
Jakob's glance went from the bottle, back to Liv. He grinned and then turned his comp off. "Well, glad you're not working for Smith any more, aren't you? I'd say we're entering an interesting strategic challenge."

Jess gets up, stretches and puts her beer bottle in the recycling. Shutting off the race replay she pockets her comm, announces Got some things as need tweakin' and heads off to the garage to tinker.

Freya locks up the groups shuttle and heads to the captured wreck...And does a survey of what's needed to get it at least partially working.

Jess strolls over to the doors between the garage and hangar. Leaning on the frame she regards the pirate launch. Neat little hole, if I say so meself. Shouldn't be much trouble puttin' temp'ry patches on it, one a side. She is still wearing the Tigers-Eye bracelet on her bare wrist and it catches the light as she points. Easier ter get at the inner plates b'tween when yer'v stripped out the junked parts and fitted the new.
Not sure any of my lads're up ter the job. I know which way round ter hold a torch though. I'll get on it tomorrer, soon as .
'Course, kit I've got in here's for light work. The Guard'll have better gear, for workin' on that heavy metal they rolled with. Won't need it now. Reckon I c'n borrer it. I'll make a call.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Everyone's talking about how this is going to clear up in 48 hours...so if anyone's going to need this, it will be earlier than that. You can't find time to do this quick?
Other than the hole, what's needed for a minimal fly-shoot-run mission?
