DM, do I post maps here and refer to them from the main game thread or can I insert them directly into the game thread and add them here as they are "finished"?

You're welcome to post maps anywhere you want, in any threads. As you say, one possible use for this section could be as an 'expanding archive', if you want to save larger 'completed area' sections that you don't want to clog an ongoing chapter with, but which might be handy to look back on later instead of having to search among X no. of posts. But that's just an idea - you're welcome to do exactly as suits you
