Re: OOC and MIA
per map, didn't collace become imperial?
Re: OOC and MIA
No, it wants to be imperial, but it's membership is being blocked by other imperial members.

Oh - So why don't we "take off and nuke e'm from orbit...It's the only way to be sure!"
Re: OOC and MIA
Nope. We're not Imperial, and they are criminals.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:31 pm n.b. as an imperial registered unit we are required to uphold the laws of war...against all.

No one has given Jakob access to the nukes.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:46 pm Oh - So why don't we "take off and nuke e'm from orbit...It's the only way to be sure!"
A more practical answer is that we achieve our goals and remain aware of the environmental factors. Letting ourselves be constrained by rules that others aren't following is a really bad idea. It comes down to a simple question: follow the rules or bring everyone back as alive as possible? Jakob will go with the latter, each and every time.

Now there is an interesting intellectual and philosophical gambit that I shall decline to pick up!Leitz wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:56 pmNo one has given Jakob access to the nukes.BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 1:46 pm Oh - So why don't we "take off and nuke e'm from orbit...It's the only way to be sure!"

Re: OOC and MIA
Didn't someone mention that the Baron had an excellent library?
Should we send someone to scour it for advertising blurb pertaining to this new unit? If it says that it is offering TL-16 battalion level forces, I'll vote to go home.

Re: OOC and MIA
He probably has a library ... although those that have met him wouldn't rate him as a great reader or indeed overly careful about going over the lines when colouring in...
As ever if you want it actioned take a punt IC with 2d6 vs Education (Knowledge) +1 for Military (but in this case Freya will also get that bonus for xeno knowledge of the neighbours).

Re: OOC and MIA
So who else in the party can read?
Re: OOC and MIA
They're all Book 4 Mercs!
They need someone from another generation system to help with the big words.
Obviously everyone can read but for research you'd need either focussed (Science) or in general terms (Admin) with your best Int or Edu as a bonus.
This a task and will take time but the Mansion's data library is available to all guests.

OK - After the shooting stops then!
Re: OOC and MIA
Oh, I like that idea!Leitz wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 11:03 am That was why I want them released to Jakob/SEMC. The Guard officers have lost their assets. We have gained some. That puts us in the "ownership" position since neither the Baron nor the Guard command paid us to go rescue anyone. It effectively eliminates much of the Guard strength without killing anyone, and puts our Big Dip in a stronger negotiation position. It also means that the enemy's plans can sort of move forward, since their plan has been to neutralize the guard. However, it puts us in a stronger position, both short and long term.
Despite his many character flaws, Jakob is a people person. I'm writing up his response now, and putting his "train of thought" into the post. My assumption is that the PCs would know what he's thinking, and likely even be thinking in a similar fashion.

The Bindoner suggested green text for private conversations. I think it's a good idea, so we'd have
Blue for standard/public conversations, i. e. visible to all PCs, or at least whoever is in the vicinity/on the comms channel
Green for private conversations, with the target audience clearly listed
Red for out-of-character stuff
Black for everything else
What do you guys think?

Re: OOC and MIA
To be fair it was BackworldTraveller's idea, I just belatedly recognised the utility of it ( when I tripped up on the old way of doing things and landed face-first in the new
).

Re: OOC and MIA
Well, it's a very good idea, BT. Anything to increase clarity in a pbp game (a medium where confusion is easy) is worth adopting as standard.
Re: OOC and MIA
For the moment I'm leaving internal dialogue as black. Jakob does that a lot; he's intelligent but uneducated. I use people he's learned from as a source of his good ideas.

Re: OOC and MIA
I think it's good to keep internal dialog different to external dialog to avoid confusion, so black makes sense, you could use italics to differentiate it.

Re: OOC and MIA
I've been using "qoute marks" around black for internal monologue. Italics are good too, but not always obvious.

So? It's a well-organised office, and NCOs appreciate efficient Admin. He'd probably taken his jacket off to go through her drawers, no doubt impressed by how tidy she'd kept the contents.Wearing a freshly donned uniform and a contented smile...
