Leiberkind looks at the captain as the announcement is made. He contacts the Lieutenant in charge.

The Lieutenant has instructed me to ask "Can you please provide me safe escort to the entrance lock?"

He doesn't sound happy. If I were you I'd find an attorney before he comes up with a new plan!

The crowd in the airlock are reluctant to abandon their quest, but don't press on and return to where Tiberius awaits. Most are assigned to roles in the documentation and tidy-up of the bay, but the Surveyor remains - He asks Tiberius "What is your Captain doing? The Lieutenant will be sorting a boarding order from the Harbour Master and this will all start again when that arrives. All she's doing is making him annoyed."

And with that he produces a flask and offers Tiberius what smells like hot chocolate.

"No, I can not provide you safe passage from this compartment. It's fifteen meters up through an unsecured lift shaft, which I'm about to power up, which might make the lift car move. You are to stay rooted in that spot as if someone just welded your boots to the deck. When and if I get the life support started and the lift operating, then I will give you my permission to move about and record at your discretion, when it will be safe for you to do so."

Her tone softens as the waits for Tiberius to start the power transfer. "I am only trying to make sure that no one gets hurt. That job is much harder when people who don't know what they're doing think they do, and go into harm's way."

Indrani keys her crew comm channel. "Tiberius, please energize your panel."

Immediately, the emergency lighting system in the ship comes on. On the bridge, the basic instrumentation comes up (everything is off). On the bridge and in the engine room several alarms start to sound.

I'm sure this is nothing, but but request permission to head to the Captains room in case its a Class 4 fire or something. Could be anything. All power lights seems ok.

Indrani slaps the Master Caution button to silence the aural alarms on both the engineering master panel and the bridge repeater panels. "Granted. Take a fire bottle with you," she replies to Pranit.

First things first, she thinks. Moving to the life support panel, she brings up the emergency system and executes an air pressure survey for all compartments. She also checks the smoke/CO detectors and the air pressure for the captain's cabin.

A thought occurs to Indrani, and she keys up both the ship's internal PA system, along with the bay's PA system, and the general channel to all crewmembers. While she speaks, she enters the appropriate commands into the life support system panel to close all doors and hatches in thirty seconds.

"Attention, stand clear of all hatches and doors. Emergency lockdown in thirty seconds. Repeat, stand clear of all doors and hatches. Emergency lockdown in thirty seconds." She switches to Pranit's private channel. "You and I hold the only unlock codes."

At ten seconds, Indrani sounds the warning klaxon over the PA systems. "Lockdown in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. Lockdown initiated!" She presses the key to close and lock every door and hatch on the ship.

Oops, I was operating under the premise that he'd followed Indrani into Engineering, although she hasn't talked to him yet.

Reven followed Pranit into the shaft in his emergency suit...and he isn't with him as he said he was coming your way...and if he'd fallen in the shaft you'd have heard that. The emergency suit has no radio transmitter except an emergency beacon, and while he had his phone, did anyone get his number?

The master controls show the doors all shutting. Main Lift Doors for Engineering, Hanger Deck, Crew Deck, Bridge. Minor doors for staterooms.

The door to the captains cabin and one of the state-rooms on the passenger deck aren't closed, and the "safe" door is showing as open somewhere down on the bottom deck.

The sound of the emergency lockdown warning can be faintly heard from inside the vessel. Your surveyor colleague looks at you...

"What the heck's going on in there? Aren't they only supposed to be checking the environment's sound."
