OOC: If any Guard show up as a result of Jess' comm, Jakob will cycle them into the Rescue teams. They will have the motivation to get their buddies out and we don't have to worry about their shooting skills. Jakob will treat them as equals in the team and encourage them just like he does everyone else.

Frank

As the comms to the HQ drops those nearby hear Frank swear like a Trooper, before switching to the officers channel

"Frell this! I wont sit back and watch those troops get destroyed because of the incompetence of their officers. Lieutenant Domici, prepare your squad for a rescue mission. I'll need you and the Sargent-Major to provide a rallying point for the guardsmen and provide support as they retreat. But I want to be clear, you do not engage the enemy directly unless provoked, I don't want you toe-to-toe street fighting with the insurgents, that is what they want and have prepared for. We already know they do not play by Imperial rules.".

Tiglath, I've had no response to questions about the Spinward Star, should I interpret this as us having no contact despite multiple attempts?

Once the rescue team has deployed, Frank wants Dubbs to repeat broadcast this over general channels

Star Town insurgents, this is Colonel Cross of The Slightly Ethical Mercenary Company. You have made your point quite clearly. I have dispatched my troops on a rescue mission to recover the injured Baronial Guard, not to engage your forces. However, if threatened they will defend themselves with lethal force without prior warning"

Frank couldn't sit back any longer, but we do have to not repeat the errors of the guard and avoid engaging the enemy on their turf. They have be well advised and prepared.

Jakob

In the vehicle bay Jakob finds he has a few extra hands.

A group of dark haired, rough looking guardsmen wearing a mixture of uniform but little armour push their way past the sentry and into the vehicle bay shouting for Sergeant Gaughan and claiming authority from Sergeant Major Henker.

At first blush Jakob reckons them to surely be aggressive enough by anyone's standards but perhaps likely to see discipline as more negotiable issue. They immediately settle down when what must be Gaughan emerges from Jess' quarters resplendent in a Guards "walking out" uniform with Sergeant stripes and seniority "rockers". He is a big man possessed of an innate charm but who also looks like he knows his soldiering. He deftly catches an ACR thrown to him by an equally large and saturnine private.

He smiles cheerfully "Leftenant Domici is it? The lads heard you were giving free rides and got over excited! Volunteers to a man". A corporal with them complains "We're not - they ruddy kidnapped me! Lannigan you're on a charge when we get back!" Gaughan stares at the Corporal and says "We're all just as keen to help as we are to not be thrown out over the town so we are". Turning to Jakob he adds "The lads suffering down there will know my voice and rally to me in the dark, sir. You'll not see them as well with their CES on".

Eyes of the entire "squad" of Guardsmen then follow Liv as she climbs into the G Carrier and straps herself into the pilot's seat asking "Did you just describe your pilot as "hot" Lt. Domici? Good move!" There's no question over which vehicle the Guard would like to fly in.

Prerna / Freya / Jess (and remote monitoring Frank)

Those overflying Star Town or studying drone footage can see three scenes of obvious activity / action.

Two are on the Processional:

At the main junction is a low loader lorry now flipped on its side and a stationary Guard APC. There appear to be bodies in the street both at the rear of the APC and around the lorry.

A stationary Guard tank on the Processional (halfway between the green dots and the main junction as a map ref) is being approached by a very visible second tank whose front quarter is on fire.

The Third is a stationary Guard MBT in a side street running pararllel to the Processional / main street.

Prerna looks to Freya from her sniper's position. "Lieutenant, put up more drones to check the south side of the mansion. I want a three-sixty view of everything within five klicks of us. Use as many drones as you need."

NB Drone piloting is a full time continuous activity Prerna and Freya can fly one each. Easy will launch a second if required and can also act as deputy pilot if not on her ACR. If you are drone piloting you must set it to hover before then starting to do something else (like acquiring targets to shoot at).

Further to joertexas' post as above:

Easy can launch a drone a round.

They can then be positioned and "parked" to work like a CCTV set up.

The drones can fly preprogrammed flight paths, not just hover, as far as I understand it. That's what Prerna was doing earlier, and she had three drones under simultaneous control.

(OOC: Yes but they are in no way "smart". So for a drone to change any action it's doing needs "pilot input" by the operator.

Pre programmed piloting to a given point or hands on joystick control will both need a PCs "actions and attention".

However, once parked up they will happily "film" whatever they are pointed at.

Equally you can "monitor" as many flying drones as you like (within reason) but only "change the action" of one drone at a time).

A low pass over the second and third tanks seems in order, maintaining evasive manoeuvres, no firing, then fast back to overwatch.

We need a detailed assessment and only going in close will do that. We've got four sets of eyes, so we ought to get decent coverage, and Jess has the upgraded armour with the enhanced imaging suite.

Right. Prerna was setting them to fly to a point, defined from the command unit, and then orbit that point at a certain distance and altitude. She had to do that one at a time, and then change their instructions one at a time. They can also RTB, using the command unit as a guide.

Jess

Jess gets the benefit of her vision aids on top of the tactical overview provided by the drone feeds.

She can determine one or two "bodies" might actually be wounded (at the rear of the APC) but those in front of it are KIA.

She can see the odd buggy about town and three or four groups of armed (mixed improvised melee weapons - no falxes) "vigilante" Townsfolk.

Yes, we're on the same page. :D

Managing a "flock?" of them is a full time job.

Just as a thought for return you can probably "RTB Button" the lot of them and they'll fly home to land at the launch point (or "stack up" hovering above) until the launch tech recovers them individually.

Please see as above.

However, the two mobile MBTs on the Processional clearly are "self recoverable" as vehicles but the squishy crew may well need medics more urgently.

Unsure on the other (#3) tank or the APC without a closer look.

"Sergeant Gaughan," Jakob pointed to Beau. "That is Sergeant Dawson. He leads the Recovery Team and we have the ambulance set up. Follow his lead. Organize your men to recover fast."

"Also, that hot pilot," he pointed at Liv. Jakob met Gaughan's gaze and lowered his voice. "Is my wife. Anything happens to her and I will personally escort a bunch of people straight to Hell. Take care of her."

"This is Lieutenant Domici, we are heading out. First rescue is the APC," Jakob said on the team comm as they lifted off. He made sure his ACR was ready, a grenade was in the tube, and several more were at hand. "Eyes in the sky, alert us if you see anything."

OOC: Tactically we have a great plan, high levels of air support, and a decent sized force.

Sensor Ops Roll (2d6 + INT + Sensor Ops): [2d6+3] = 6+3 = 9
Remote Ops Skill + INT [2d6-2] = 11-2 = 9
Looking for movement to the west of the processional - dodging up the various roads and alleys.

Jess has had a busy day, a generous helping of Scotch, and no Recon training. She is rated as Sensor Ops 1 though, if that helps: [2d6] = 7

Assuming that Jess/Jakob will be focused on the vehicles, their immediate area and routes to them, Frank will focus his attention in a wider scope, looking for signs of the insurgents, making sure nobody might get cut off...

Recon (1): [2d6+1] = 3+1 = 4

 He's obviously still distracted by the whole Mrs Mopp affair.
