Noor
"What's going on in there?" Noor calls out. "It looks like the ship isn't connected to station right now. Do you want to connect it?"

Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
I agree, now is not the time to call the authorities. First we must see what other unregistered cargo there may be. I do not want the police to be the first to discover anything aboard.

Inrani shakes her head. "No, not until we determine that it's safe to do so. Anyone with engineering or maintenance experience, let's begin a survey. We need to make sure the ship is safe to ferry. I'll start with the power systems."Monsieur Rose wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:53 pm Noor

Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
As Indrani steps through the airlock, phone acting as camera and torch, she can see that this is not quite the ship she recalls. The crew’s treadmill is there, but the belt is broken; the pot plant is on the broken treadmill and definitely as dead as those in the dock outside. The stateroom to the left has been tagged in luminous paint and there are 3 arm-chairs visible, with some girls discarded t-shirt and underwear. The room to the right appears to be full of old booze crates and flyers, trash and broken things.
Second room is made up as a bedroom – with the top-bunk full of gardening equipment in bags – spare hose, trowels and snippers. Outside is the coffeepot, with a miss-matched pair of mugs full of dried-on sludge, and the microwave has been left ready to go with a mug sat inside. The lift door is shut – if access is needed to the other desks it’s going to be using the old-fashioned emergency ladder after manually cranking the door. Next to that is what was Indrani’s cabin. Now made out like a delinquent but poverty-stricken teen’s bedroom with a massive poster of a naked lady on a grav bike carrying an improbably large rifle.
The crew’s dining table is broken and has been pushed to partly block the captains cabin – but that looks grubby in a way that Captain Celisse would never have countenanced. Behind it is a hatch that wasn’t there when she was aboard – shut.
The final room’s hatch is stuck – Tools are going to be needed to get the last stateroom’s door open – the catch has snapped.

Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
Indrani turns on her heel and steps back outside. She pitches her voice so everyone can hear. "Would someone please go purchase trash bags, disposable gloves, and disposable masks and gowns? There is a huge amount of potential evidence in here, and we do not need our DNA on any of it. We will stack it all in a corner, and throw a cargo net over it before we depressurize the bay. Until we have these items, please do not touch anything."

Nālani, who has been gingerly tiptoeing through the ship carefully avoiding touching things anyway, volunteers eagerly: I will go. Hostile Environment suits would be more useful, but I will get what I can.
Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
"If you want to throw it away afterwards, then be my guest," Indrani replies with a smile. "Of course, they can be cleaned, but I was going for the simpler option."The Bindoner wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 5:12 pm Nālani, who has been gingerly tiptoeing through the ship carefully avoiding touching things anyway, volunteers eagerly: I will go. I'll go to the bridge
Recording all the way, Pranit steps carefully towards the Bridge.

Indrani resumes her power systems survey, which consists first of gaining access to the power plant.

Nālani walks carefully back through the plants, following the trail and avoiding getting any detritus on her clothes.
As she goes she uses her comm to search for suppliers of forensic suits, gloves, masks and evidence bags. Drone delivery preferred.

Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
The manual pop plate opens but it is as you suspect...empty of the required handle. The manual release is duely clicked and even your best efforts in this field sadly fail. The crank handle is definitely needed.
You also notice that the door is much cooler than the floor.
This is one of the security doors between an airlock and the bridge.

Is the ship fully enclosed in this bay?BackworldTraveller wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:09 pm The manual pop plate opens but it is as you suspect...empty of the required handle. Re: Chapter Two: Queen of the Belt
Oh, crap and other curse words! I did not know that the ship wasn't fully enclosed!! The picture appeared to show a fully enclosed dry dock, not an access tube arrangement.
Indrani jerks back from the hatch. "Everyone, get out of this bay!" She exits the ship and heads for the bay door. "Decompression danger! Everyone, move out of the bay, NOW!!" She stands at the bay hatch and counts noses as she curses under her breath.

Pranit finishes trying to open the door and than feels the cold.
Frack, I'm so used to wearing my Vacc Suit.
He hears Indrani sound the warning he was thinking and begins lithely sprinting towards the
door. Helping anyone who needs it.
"Maybe a exterior inspection first?'

"I'd rather make sure the ship is airtight first," Indrani replies. "But, yes, an EVA is the next thing afterwards."ateno wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 6:40 pm Pranit finishes trying to open the door and than feels the cold.

Noor
Noor holds off on trying to reconnect the ship to the station.
As Nālani comes out, Noor nods and stops her for an update. "I got a message from Assana. The police are looking for us. Something about needing a statement. Do you know her, or what she does? I didn't give this number to anyone, but she left me a message." She also asks how things are going inside.
As the others come racing out, she gets her answer.
"What? What happened?"
