Jess muses out loud on the private channel: Y'know, with this distraction it might be a good time ter collect that bit o' ship we bought.

Jakob opened a private line to Jess. "I don't know if the Colonel will okay the rescue op, and I don't know if the Junge are good guys are bad. Protocol on a rescue op is to protect the recovery target and destroy anything that remotely looks like a threat. Your call on passing along a 'get out of the AO' signal to the Junge; I'll support your decision."

"Sergeant Dawson, this is a WARNO, pending CO approval. Prepare our remaining vehicles for a rescue operation. Load up with triage and medics. Riflemen will disembark and must be prepared to ex-fil on foot.

Unknown enemy, operating in a BUA. Anyone not clearly identified as a friendly is an enemy.
Unknown number of friendlies needing assist.
Sergeant Major Jenker has over watch, and will destroy abandoned vehicles.
We will deploy to the rescue location. Currently undefined.
You, Sergeant Dawson, will extract wounded and dead.
Pending vehicle capacity we will either extract or exfil anyone else.
I will lead the exfil.
The CO must approve, and will give the 'GO' order.
The Guard are going into a difficult situation with no reserves, and likely little chance of success."

Jakob listened carefully to Beau's response. If Beau had the basics then Jakob knew the plan would get executed with as much enthusiasm as Jakob himself would bring.

He grimaced, and comm'd Liv directly. "Sweetheart, there may be a need for a rescue, and a hot stuff grav pilot would be a welcome addition to the party."

He switched to the officer channel. "Not that I'd ever suggest stealing a local vehicle, but can anyone fly one of those fighters? It's going to get real hot out there, and good support would be useful."

Jess (and All Observing Town)

Jess hears two overlapping reports over the sound of the tanks barging through Star Town and sees one tank stopped in a side street parallel to the main drag.

She notices a fire team of infantry have reluctantly got out of their APC for the few yards walk to the low loader truck parked across the road when it flips over and the nose of the APC is shoved sideways. She sees the horizontal blast in the Inchin dust just before she hears it. More infantry dazedly pile out of the APC’s back door with their weapons but trip and fall as they do while others slide down the armoured side and run into the side streets.

Private Baker stops industriously shovelling sand into a bag and dives into the saggy sangar "Ere we go again!"

Where are the drones? and where are they operated from?

(OOC: They're currently being flown from the Mansion roof by Prerna and launched/recovered by Private Easy).

Boss, this's gonna be a massacre. TDX IEDs. Tell their Colonel they're gonna lose all their vehicles if they don't pull back now. They'll not see an enemy, let alone engage 'em. It's such a frellin' waste...

Jakob listens to Jess' report. He works with Beau to sort the available troops into rescue and protection.

Over the team comm: "If anyone knows of a Guard person, by name, who wants to help with the rescue, we could use them. I don't want to announce our plans to the enemy, but we're going to be very short handed."

Then back to getting the ambulance ready, mapping overlays with any data Jess' craft can provide, and quietly making sure every body knows what they are doing, and why. What the protocol is, and how proud he is of them.

Jess uses her private comm to contact Sgt. Gaughin: "Darragh, Hublot's taking his force piecemeal into town. It's a frelling cake and arse party. If you can get crews to declare faults and back out it'll save lives. Anyone off duty and fit who wants to help RV in our garage, report to Lt. Domici."

Dubbs, put me through to the Guard HQ "This is Colonel Cross. Your vehicles are being picked off by IEDs, if your don't pull them out now they are doing to be wiped out, dammit! Do you actually want to lose the rest of your men, because that's what's going to happen unless you get them out of there NOW!"

Steers the copter-drone towards left-most tank group...jinks on route. varies speed and line and height...I can see the vehicle proceeding innocently with inadequate care...any suggestions of approaching hostiles or hawsers or such?

Can we feed the image to the guard commander...if he micro-manages there will be no get-out for him when it goes pear-shaped!

Major McIlwraith, Guard Adjutant shouts back over the comm "Use fire and manoeuvre to pin and destroy the enemy! We are on top of the situation thank you, Colonel Cross!"

Mrs. Mopp pats her hair into place, appreciatively returns Frank's scrutiny and then gives him a very obvious wink.

She then titters manically as she collides her wonky wheeled trolley from room to room. In fact increased proximity to Frank suddenly has her all of a fluster. Indeed it seems she nearly has a stroke ... but can't quite reach.
