Lanny shakes his head at all this talk about going after some bees. He complains loudly to Bregalad, who happens to be the closest person:
"I don't understand, Bregalad... These days in town were meant for training, study, relaxation, and healing, and instead we are off to put ourselves in harm's way again... We're surrounded by evil kobolds, orcs, and wraiths, and yet we choose to pick a fight with some bees that are dwelling peacefully in their natural habitat? I suppose I could understand it for those that have nothing else to do, but now Tratiln is forsaking his training, Drudsa is forsaking his study, Saul is forsaking his party planning, and all of them are forsaking their healing... Where is the focus and discipline in this group? Why can't we just finish what we set out to do before embarking on new adventures?"
Lanny continues to grumble under his breath as he returns to his room to rest from his splitting headache.

The elves practice with their weapons for a second day, and Drudsa begins practice with his sling. Of the elves, only Tratiln has the breakthrough he has been seeking. The other adventurers spend their time relaxing, riding their horses, and in Saul's case preparing for the proposed festival.

Thaumont 25, AC 1000
The day of the party arrives; Bregalad, Drudsa and Lanny all make a final push with their studies and are rewarded with sudden insights into their weapons of choice.
All day wagons and townfolk from the surrounding environs have been arriving, bringing with them leftover stores from the previous winters, stories of the glorious old days and praise for the companions' feats. It seems that everyone had a relative or a close friend who died in the service of the mad necromancer. Indeed, Drudsa is at first given a bit of a wide berth.

Bregalad replies to Lanny, "I suppose Thordin and Innana's blades have been idle for too long, and they wish for a little excitement. To be honest, Lantharios, my spear has struck nothing but air these last two days, and I think it too craves more than rote practice."

On Thaumont 25, Bregalad will visit Hamlay the Younger, and see if the smith was successful in repairing his shield. If so, the elf will pay him an extra 5 gold pieces (in addition to the second payment of 10 gold pieces), and hopes to see him at Saul's party, where they can partake in good food and drink, and regale with the glory of past battles!

Drudsa the dabbler
As Drudsa concludes traiing with the sling he goes back to his magical studies, turning his attention to the Magic Missile spell.
"It seems that the majority favours returning to the tower. It also seems that most of us are interested in the healing powers of the honey produced by the bees nearby. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable Lanny but it would be in our best interest to have more sources of healing. Specially if they can be obtained from natural sources close by."

Re: IC V
Tratiln turns to Lanny, "I believe we can also obtain the honeycomb without killing any of the creatures. If we all put them to sleep, we should be able to walk in and take some of the honeycomb and then the bees will awake and go about their business once more."
Re: IC V
Meagnor the Elf joins the others, a severe look on his face:
"Well my friends, there's only one way I know to tell you this and it is the short way. I won't be returning with you to that tower or to Threshold. I'm going to help those elves to rebuild their village, maybe I can rest my mind by staying with those who were possessed by that ancient cube like I was. I'll be forever in debt with you for the several times you saved my life in this short trip of ours and my thoughts and prayers will always be with you as well. Here is some stuff that my be more useful to you then to me. My mind is set and there's nothing you can do to change this. But remember, you have a friend at Tall Oak who you can count in times of need."
Then he leaves, wondering if his adventuring days are over...

Innana the Fighter
Innana listens to Meagnors words with a heavy heart, and reaches out to embrace him, and says" I am sorry to see you leave our group. I understand why you must go, and wish there was something I could say to make you stay, but I see you have made up your mind. I will miss the adventures we could have shared already. I hope life is good to you, and you succeed in your endeavors." Innana steps away a little teary eyed as everyone says there goodbyes.
Innana speaks to Lanny in Elven, "I am sorry about my barbarian ways. I know you are linked closer to nature than I probably will ever be, but I believe this honey will come in very handy, and may even save one of our lives."
Innana can't wait to get some ale in her at the party tonight. She is sad to know Meagnor won't share in the adventures.

Lanny the elf
Lanny approaches Meagnor as the elf prepares to depart from the group.
"An elvish mentor of mine once said: 'If an elf loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away.' Meagnor, I wish you well in your quest to aid the elves in Tall Oak. Perhaps you can be the fighter they need to build up their village defenses, so that they will never again fall prey to ogres or other foul creatures. Tall Oak will be very fortunate to have you. Farewell, brother."
Lanny bows in respect to his fellow archer and then returns to his duties.

Marodin bows to Meagnor with respect.
"It's a shame you won't be coming with us, but surely there is no nobler deed that helping your kinsmen rebuild their village and their lives. May the Immortals smile upon you and your selflessness! I will always count you a friend."
Marodin will spend the rest of the day enjoying the party and offering the wisdom of the Immortals to any of the villagers who care to listen.
The next morning, when the group has gathered to break the fast and attempt to shake off any aftereffects from the party, Marodin will argue for taking an extra day to seek out the giant bees.
"A party of adventurers like us can never have too many sources of healing, and if our mage friends can put them to sleep without hurting them, we can gain their honeycombs while remaining in harmony with nature. It seems like a win-win for us.
Also, have you noticed how we've been ranging far and wide to fight the enemies of our hometown? Perhaps that should be our name going forward - The Threshold Rangers!"

Re: IC V
Lanny the elf
Exhausted from three full days of intensive training, yet excited about the new proficiency he has gained with his longbow, Lanny is now ready to relax and enjoy the festival. He spends some time at a makeshift archery range, teaching kids to hit bullseyes on a nearby tree, and later casts Ventriloquism to perform a short ventriloquist act in which he projects his own voice from various children in the audience. After some time with fun and games, Lanny seeks out some of the village elders, including the eldest elder, Rie the Ancient. He shows them the servant's journal, the coat-of-arms hawk insignia, the rough sketch of the arcane symbol, and the old Traladaran coins found on the zombies.
"What do you remember of this Master Kelgar? This coat-of-arms insignia seems to suggest he might have been a member of a prominent family... This rough sketch of an arcane symbol we found in his workshop seems to suggest he may have been in contact with beings on another plane of existence... The servant's journal also speaks of a strange comet in the night sky, one that fascinated the wizard... Do you recall any strange occurrences around the tower or around the village during the time that the wizard lived in the tower, such as unusual weather patterns or odd creature sightings, that might be associated with the appearance of this comet?"
Lanny does not try to push for too much information, knowing that it is a sensitive subject. After speaking with the elders, he offers them the old Traladaran coins (2gp, 54sp, 96cp) found on the zombies.
"These were found among the remains of some of the servants. Of little monetary value to us, but perhaps of great sentimental value to all of you. We plan to return to the tower once again, and if we learn anything new, we will of course let you know."
Lanny raises his glass of fine elven wine in toast to the villagers of Jessup. Several glasses later, he finally turns in for the night.

"You're going to help that bastard Quinthos?" Saul never forgets a slight. "After insulting us you're going to help him more than we already did?"
After a moment he sees there is nothing he can do to change his mind and relents.
"I do wish you all the best, I just hope you would reconsider or at the very least have a couple of rounds before you leave. Celebrate with us tonight and leave in the morning if you must. Who knows when you'll see a decent party with humans and dwarves."

Innana the fighter
Enjoys the villages energy at the party. Everyone is smiling and happy. Innana plays stick swords with some of the children of the village, and takes time to show the girls how to do basic defensive skills. She is surprised, and happy that some of the girls have been trained to hold their own in sword play already.
Watching the group all mix in with the villagers and have some fun was good to see.
When the sun goes down and the town lanterns are lit the party started in earnest. Innana wore a light purple dress, and her hair had looked like a ribbon factory. The little girls took turns putting their favorite ribbons in her hair, and it ended up looking like there were more ribbons than hair. What started out as a braid with ribbons ended up looking like a birds nest gone all wrong. Innana wore her ribbons proudly. She laughed and drank herself to a slurring stupor. Staggering her way back to her room she passed out on the bed. Innana dreams of large bees.
