Inchin: Endgame
Inchin: Endgame
Prerna
Prerna senses the town "relax". She sees movement and partial targets in the location where Frank indicated a possible concentration of "rioters" but nothing to indicate that they are either still there or indeed actively involved in anything either hostile or even "criminal" by the Baron's standards. People begin to cautiously move about in the streets anxiously looking about for the armoured vehicles that would be the instruments of the Baron's revenge.
The two water bowsers are now each positioned in the market squares of both "halves" of Star Town ("Proper" and Barter Town). People cue for their rations and a group of Junge attend each vehicle. Plumes of dust mark the passage of buggies and other vehicles about town but no one's racing.
Townsfolk pick over the ambush site and the stowage on the wrecked tanks causes some interest but soon the jacks, shovels and other tools are spirited away and Inchin's ever patient the dust settles again.
Atop a container "roof" in Barter Town a group of Junge cast about with what must be a pair of "liberated" field glasses. One of them points over to the Mansion's roof and the group all cheerfully wave and gesticulate.
The current drone's batteries are spent and it needs to RTB.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Prerna commands the drone to RTB onto the roof. She stands and breaks down her heavy gauss rifle, replacing it in its case. "Easy, Baker, stay on watch here. We will probably have to build a position here for security." She keys up on the command channel. "Colonel, the townspeople are coming out, so I think the hostiles have withdrawn. Recommend that we set up a observation post here on the Mansion roof."Tiglath wrote: ↑Fri Nov 06, 2020 7:35 pm Prerna

When the buggy arrives back at the Mansion Jess parks where the G-Carrier can lit it and gets out.
Looking back toward the wrecks she calls HQ:
Colonel, buggy an' passengers safe. No pursuit. Are we still bouncin', or can I go help in the Guard Medbay? Reckon they've got more casualties than they're used to, an' we might need 'em fit soon.

Frank
Liv, once more rocking Navy blues as Ensign Mallory, later reports "I have updated the Deputy Minister regarding the security issues. He has, in turn, consulted with the Baron. We’re staying".
She adds “I can share some details with your officers if that would help us collectively plan through this?”

Frank
Frank is going to place a pair of guards on the launch and have a pair guarding the vehicle garage.
"Thank you ensign I shall call a meeting shortly. We need to try and work out what they are planning and how we can either stop them or survive long enough that they run out of water, or we do"
ooc: With Liv briefing the Deputy Minister, etc., there should be time for Jess to help out with the injured for a while before we have the meeting.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
All
After the turmoil of the attack on the armoured troop and the “rescue” of the other troop by Jakob and Liv all forces withdraw to the Mansion and Star Town appears to regain its composure.
The Baron is apparently apoplectic and has an audibly “stormy” meeting with Colonel Pohlmann resulting in broken crockery.
Freya begins to suspect that Ensign Mallory/Liv is a particularly strange naval officer and that various members of the merc unit are really quite proficient at what they do.
Prerna establishes a sangar on the roof to protect the now permanent OP and “drone hutch” established up there.
The Inchin planetary defence fighters are tasked to fly low passes over the starport for “morale purposes”. As to whose morale is benefitted or what military purpose this serves remains entirely unclear.
The wounded including Freya (suspected broken rib) are examined and treated in an overwhelmed med bay in the mansion. It is clear that while competent the Mansion medics are not experienced in trauma management and that even with the few injured tank crew they are now at capacity.

Re: Inchin: Endgame
There's room for a couple of injured in the medical bay behind the pursers office, if it's not already being used. If it will make a difference then perhaps Prerna could lend a hand.
Once things have settled slightly Frank will call a meeting for the officers (incl Freya and Liv)

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Freya seems to have vanished - no-one has really seen her since the dust-up.
Re: Inchin: Endgame
Jakob will help with the medical needs for as long as Frank will let him.
Re: Inchin: Endgame
(OOC: All)
However, it will take one squad who now can't do anything else.
NB You also have "Skip's" squad on diplomatic protection/HQ security and Prerna's squad are now manning the OP on the roof.
To re-cap on "dispositions" / the best way to configure this: the ex pirate launch/gunship is in the Repair Bay (the right hand one) forward of the legend "Repair Area" on the map.
Please check the "Living Quarters" map in "Images" - you have two bays.
https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 04#p499304
In the other (left hand / double floor) bay the "ready" Dragonfly fighter now operates off the "pad" behind the launch doors with the other one continually on station in orbit. The rest of the merc vehicles occupy the remainder of the downstairs of this two level grav vehicle bay.
Note lines of sight for sentries vs your expectation of what they can reasonably cover. E.g. even with the adjoining door open a sentry in the repair bay just can't see the lower floor below the catwalk in the Dragonfly Fighter bay.
Freya's Mertactor Lines launch is docked onto the "penthouse" atop the mansion at the Baron's insistence.
However, given the new "threat level" please specify any additional sentries you wish to post and level of readiness of troops. I understand that you were posting single sentries to watch the red lift doors in the barracks block.
NB You can't realistically keep folk armoured all the time otherwise they will become fatigued because they can't sleep properly. Yes, they can hack it for say 24hrs (and maybe up to 48hrs) but after 24hrs "humanity" will set in. You can rescind all safety practices and "permanent issue" live ammo, rifles and armour to garrison soldiers but there are good reasons why the military generally don't do that...
This is a sound plan.

Prerna
Baker replies "Yes, Ma'am! Me an' Easy can cover it. An hour's help from a full squad with a grav vehicle would start us on a good sized sangar up here. Would you confirm my kill, Ma'am?"

Re: Inchin: Endgame
The urgent cases having been dealt with Jess takes a break. She is about to make a call to Benno when her question is answered by the arrival of some of the injured troopers the Junge rescued.
Jess questions them and finds out that they were taken into homes and patched up enough to make their way back. So, no hostage negotiations, no rescue mission. That's the good news.
The bad is that the Junge are rightly furious with the Guard for shooting up their vehicles ( while acting as ambulances ) and killing some of them. No more help from that quarter, probably only trouble.
Reporting: Colonel, I'm still with the Guard medics. Missin' guys the Junge took in are back, but the kids are pretty pissed off 'bout their buggies bein' shot up. I am too. Frellin' idiot did that?
Looking around before going back to work checking over the new arrivals Jess notices the absence of Freya. Anyone see where my friend went?

Frank
When it becomes clear that Freya is unaccounted for he will try to find out who saw her last and have the mansion searched to try and find her (the bits we have access to at least)
To Jess:
"Thank you Sargent-Major, that's some good news, but I'm sorry to hear about the Junge. I did tell Colonel Pohlman they were helping, but as usual he paid no attention. He's left us with pretty much nothing to work with in town" he sighs

Re: Inchin: Endgame
Frank
With the immediate danger over Frank allows the delegates to return to their area, with a warning that for their own safety they should not leave the mansion.
He then sets up the following guard rota:
Prerna's squad on the roof (self sufficient for observation)
Skip's squad guards HQ and the VIPs
Jess' squad guards the vehicle bays
This is with a three shift system (2 on, 1 off) with the Technical crew covering for the resting squad. This will allow 100% coverage of alert and armoured guards.
This leaves HQ staff and Jakob's squad as reactive and all the officers can "float" between squads as needed.
The above has been discussed and cleared with Tiglath.

(OOC: As per the above all officers (PCs) can "float" between squads/assignments and sort out their own rest periods etc.
Jakob's squad are now the only "reactive" / "away" team available (plus all officers and HQ staff).

Jess
Corporal Able, with a concerned looking Pte Love in tow, sidles up to Jess like a Collace spiv and speaks in a very unmilitary sotto voce "Er ... Sarn't Major, Ma'am, you was lookin' for Miss Freya? Well ... um ... Love's found 'er. If you could come an' 'ave a look ... um ... before anyone else does".

That doesn't sound great, but it doesn't sound terrible either. Puzzled and a little worried Jess tells them: Good work. Right, let's slope off nice an' quiet then.. Pocketing a couple of sealed sterile dressings, adhesive sutures and some tape, just in case, she leads the little group casually out of the room.Jess

Well ... um ... Love's found 'er. If you could come an' 'ave a look ... um ... before anyone else does".
Out in the corridor OK Love, lead on.
Arriving at the showers Jess raises an eyebrow at Love, and quietly opens the door to look.
Seeing Freya Jess thinks "Aw, frell.... We need a Padre in this unit."
Thanks for bringin' this ter me Corporal, Private. Best yer go an' use another shower Luv, the room next ter my office is open. Corporal, stay here an' keep people out. Tell 'em I'm fixin' the waterworks or somethin'. There is no mirth behind Jess' brittle little "joke", but it will reassure Able there's nothing to be concerned about.
Jess kicks off her boots, walks into the shower and sits beside Freya, letting the water soak her clothes. It'll wash the blood out, at least.
Friendly: Hi Hun. Not the shoppin' trip we expected, eh?
Jess just sits close alongside, not reaching out to embrace or lay a comforting hand yet.
Sympathetically: First fight? Close up, like, I mean. 'S diff'rent when its close. Personal. Jess contemplates the flaming Aslan skull inked over the burn scars on her left foot and leg. "New Moscow 133-1100" it's label reads. "Cat Killer".
Y'know, we did a lot of good today. Saved lives. You did. An' yer managed not ter take any too.

Aww Jess...Everything went so fast and so slow - and that guy tried to KILL me - like really dead - and then that bloke just blew-up and - What is it you say? Frell? Someone told me that the Army first teaches you to drink and then teaches you why. I think I may be doing this in the wrong order. And that Militia Colonel is a real idiot and those poor people just going about their business and now they're hospital cases.
And we didn't really see any of the guys that did this - just the poor suckers they mugged into standing in front of the guns.
How do we do this right?
How do you sleep?
With this, Freya kind of runs out of words and goes more for between sob gulps.
