Re: OOC
Next question for the crew: Straightforward Fleet Jump to Marduk's Gas Giant for refueling, Jump to somewhere else in the Marduk system ( the planetoid/asteroid zone for instance ), or another option?
Re: OOC
Unless we have a persuasive alternative re-fuelling with the mutual protection of the fleet and its fighters is sound tactical sense.
This doesn't mean we have to do it but we will need full tanks to escape / jump back home so don't want to be "running on empty" if we need to jump.

Re: OOC
Then we need a very simple Astrogation roll ( essentially don't double-1 it
).
Then, at the Jump point, Remington rolls Engineer (J) and Ridley rolls Pilot.

Nearly forgot, by tradition I like to play this old Filk song when a PC ship first lifts off

Re: OOC
The ship is now in Jump, and will emerge at Marduk Gas Giant in 7 days.

We can roleplay any aspects of the week in Jump you want. When everyone is ready we arrive.

As Chief of Engineering does Remington get to direct Handson and Gris' skill training? I noticed they're both question marks in the skill sheet.

Absolutely, Engineering is Remington's domain, unless overruled by Kar.

Re: OOC
Righty-o, unless Kar objects we're all learning how to use a vac suit. Handson and Gris have vac suit 0 and Remington has it not at all, and it seems like you'd want your engineering crew to be able to fix things outside the ship. Amusingly, Gris and Remington both have 0g 1, despite not really knowing how to wear a vac suit. Riddle me that.

Re: OOC
Ooh, I know that one! When the power fails the ship goes zero-G, but there is still air - for a while. So your spanner-monkeys need to work fast in float-mode, before breathing becomes a problem.
Glad to see the doc is editable, never used that thing before

Re: OOC
Huh, that's actually a good explanation. My idea was something like we're just naturals at 0g movement but can't get the suits to fit right. Like you could be comfortable maneuvering underwater as a scuba diver but you could never get your wetsuit and gear just so so that you're totally comfortable.

Re: OOC
I think Vac Suit for spacers is a bit like swimming for seafarers. Usually you don't need it, because you are on the ship, and having it when the ship is lost might just be prolonging the inevitable end.
I like your diver analogy. It's a specialist skill.
Thought of another reason for Zero-G without Vac Suit. Drive components are large and unwieldy. Much easier to manoeuvre them with the grav-plates off.

Re: OOC
in-between his watches on the bridge whispering sweet nothings into the ships controls, regular sneaky engine room checks to unsettle Remington ( but also to secretly learn a few things ) and with a bit of luck spending several hours in the tattoo chair at the hands of raven or anyone else who has a skill for it ... Ridley would like to improve his dog handling skills .... i believe we have a space fido and handler onboard somewhere ?

There is indeed a dog and its trainer aboard. as requested
I'll ask Tiglath if Raven can ink.
Feel free to post something with Remington, I'm sure he'll play along.

great !!! well i may just wait until raven comes out of her room ...... probably a high risk of serious bodily injury if Ridley interrupts her own jump rituals ......

Re: OOC
It's an absolute tragedy that I can't come up with a plausible excuse for Remington to have heard that remark. The chance to bemoan the fact that Raven even considers it possible for a half-shaven ape like Ridley (no offense) to understand the vast intricacies of jump space would be the perfect jumping off point for another Remington Rant.Be quiet Áshildr and watch. Perhaps Ridley will be kind enough to show us how he makes the lights move at his station as he steers the Cunning Serpent through Rán's realm? If we are lucky he might even explain what they mean"

I don't know, the comm channel between Pilot and Engineer could be live. It's not a push-button-to-send system. And I'd love to hear that rant

Re: OOC
Someone could easily have left the "bung" out of one of the speaking tubes of the "Oghman intercom"!
They're really handy for holding your beer mid manoeuvre...
It would be as if a tiny and "tinny" Remmington had got inside everyone's heads!

Absolutely. You can't put a drinking horn down on a console, you need the voice-pipe opening ( into which it does not snuggly fit ).They're really handy for holding your beer mid manoeuvre...
