Re: Chapter 1a: From the Dwarfworks
Is the drake close to a post or a mast that the chain could be wrapped around?

Hannu Survage
Hannu continues his tune and adds a few foot movements to it, still favoring one leg. He strikes at the drake again.
Attack [1d20] = 17, Dam [1d8-1] = 6-1 = 5

Odlo
Seeing the attack continuing on the drake, Odlo joins in. "You like the taste of our flesh?" he taunts the drake. He tries to keep the drake's attention, luring it to pull in his direction to keep the chain taut and from doubling back on the dwarf, watching all the while for an opening to attack with his short sword.
Odlo longknife attack [1d20+1] = 3+1 = 4, damage [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

Characters:
The sailors question your wearing of cultist robes, but you are able to quickly explain it away, showing your normal clothes underneath the purloined robes. To your relief, the dragon has passed out of sight and is not returning back across the sky in the direction of the waterfront. The sailors direct you to the oars and urge you to help replace their fallen allies to help the barge escape out the harbor mouth.
The skillful boatswain navigates the barge out between the massive, burning hulks of the sinking merchant vessels in the harbor. Huge flaming projectiles launched from the cliffs above splash around you, too close for comfort.
One final Fortitude Save as you escape the harbor. If you fail, choose a messy end.
At last, the barge passes beyond the catapults and out of the harbor, the sea stretching before you. Your ship isn't rightfully seaworthy, not beyond the harbor's bounds, but you are free from Kaerhavn and your pursuers, and that's enough. You're rocked on the waters by the gentle waves, watching the deep red of the sunset upon the endless western sea.
This thread then is for your own use as you roleplay through the Chapter 1 denouement. Roleplay your introspection as you level up to Level 1.
Your final reactions as you finally are at safety. What do you do with the Kobold? With your cultist robes? With the sailors who saved your lives after you saved theirs?
Once everyon has posted, I'll move you to a Chapter 2 thread that combines with the Dockside group who is also at sea.
If any player is displeased with their survivor and wants to roll up one of the sailors on the barge, speak up.

Casper the friendly dwarf attempts to evade the incoming flaming projectiles. Fortitude [1d20] = 20 He dives out of the way, does a small somersault, and lands like Mary Lou Retton in the olympics.
I may take one of the sailors. Casper isn't my favorite...

Re: Chapter 1a: From the Dwarfworks
Odlo, halfling glovemaker
Odlo, satisfied at having explained his robes to the sailors, drops them at his feet and grabs an oar and happily begins to row the barge to safety. He keeps an eye on the flaming projectiles launched from the cliff, glaring at their source, but nothing comes close enough to distract him from his duty.
Odlo fortitude [1d20] = 15
As they make it to safety, Odlo takes in the destruction and death surrounding him. It all saddens him, but nothing matches the despair that washes over him as he replays losing the grasp of his beloved Greta in the crowd. He looks down at the jewel-hilted short sword resting in its scabbard at his belt. Just this morning it was owned by a talented jeweler...who no doubt was cut down by the sadistic cult. The thieves' tools, once the pride of the cocksure Tyv. Pox's cleaver and side of beef...that cleaver making a very fine weapon. Magna's apron. He compares this riches to the only relics of his life before today: gloves, awl, and a gardening medal. But he has nothing of Greta's.
His thoughts turn to her again as a tear runs down his face. He wipes it away with a bloody sleeve and appreciates the breathtaking view of the sun sinking into the sea. Yes, there is still beauty in this world. And Odlo resolves he will help restore it. He's really good at armed combat. He indulges himself to relive the memory of slaying several cult members and surviving a dragon attack. And he hopes many more will die at his hands.

Re: Chapter 1a: From the Dwarfworks
Hannu Survage
Hannu takes in his surrounding company, “days just don’t get much more exciting than this, do they?” He says this as the others are setting to work rowing the barge, grieving their lost colleagues, and composing themselves.
Hannu spies a pile of netting that looks like the most comfortable spot on the barge and lounges into it. He pulls Bucket from his shoulder and gently strokes its mangled feathery head.
Folding a hand behind his head and kicking up his feet, “I guess it is just you and me now” he says looking skyward despite the obvious company of the sailors and company of halfling and dwarves that helped him escape to this point.
Fortitude Roll [1d20] = 11

Thorhall, Dwarven Blacksmith
Thorhall takes a seat at the nearest one that looks like it might suit someone shorter of stature and grabs an oar. He watches the farmer try to lay back on some netting, using it like a hammock. "You, Hannu. Git off yer arse," he says, poking the man with the end of his oar.

Hannu Survage
“I think not, the rest of you are plenty strong enough” and Hannu rolls to his side turning away from the dwarf while receiving prods from the oar handle.

Re: Chapter 1a: From the Dwarfworks
Odlo continues the rhythmic rowing, bristling at the budding confrontation between Hannu and Thorhall. He looks to the other sailors apologetically, then mutters ffowlyn hwrgwn under his breath as he watches Hannu laze on the deck.

Did anyone grab the longsword sticking out of the drake? I didn't have Odlo do it since he had so much other stuff...

Odlo, halfling glovemaker
As their rescuers come into view, Odlo attempts to huddle Thorhall, Pegg, Casper, and Hannu together. "Before we leave the barge, there's the matter of dividing our spoils from the cultists...and those who bore arms in solidarity with us.
Thorhall, you have the diamonds and coin. I recovered this jeweled sword, which I intend to keep and forfeit any claim to the coin and diamonds."
He lays out Tyv's thieves' tools and a bronze pocket compass.
"Those are for the taking too. I also have Pox's beef we all can share" he says as he begins chopping it into 7 equal pieces assuming my count of two sailors is correct. He hands a share of the meat to all. Given a calculation in the OOC thread, this should be 200 lbs of beef = 200 sp = 200/7 = 28.5 days' rations for all seven.

"And I am willing to share this", Hannu says as he searches his waistband which fruitfully produces a piece of moist chalk. Hannu holds it forward pinched between thumb and index finger and guffaws.

Did the drake die on the deck of the barge and was the longsword on the barge with us?
Re: Chapter 1a: From the Dwarfworks
There are two dead drakes and a dead kobold on the barge with you. The third drake with the sword was back on the warf/pier.
