Re: OOC III
I blame it on exhaustion. It's been hella hot here in Virginia, my shop isn't air conditioned, and I've been totally wiped out at the end of the dayLuis wrote:Cool, thanks.

Know the feeling, living in my country's hottest region, Alentejo, isn't easy on someone who can't literally handle the heat.

Hey guys, I've not been able to post yesterda and I won't be able to post until tomorrow night (and I won't post IC right now because there is too much to read and I'm quite busy). Sorry about that. Meagnor will keep waiting for a chance to shoot (if TK wants to NPC him).

Re: OOC III
I retconned Saul's Sneak Attack so it ht. He did a grand total of 4 hp.
Re: OOC III
Saul, it does not look like your arrows can damage the creature. So far, Hedfan is the only weapon that has successfully done damage to it.Luis wrote:Saul curses under his breath and presses his attack with his bow.
Re: OOC III
Yes, Saul's dagger and Thordin's sword are the only two magic weapons present by my count. Lanny does still have two magic Traladaran arrows as well, but if he fires and misses the beast, he might accidentally hit a friend. According to the Rolls thread, Saul's chance of hitting a friend in the last round was 25%. Just food for thought.Finglas wrote:Saul, it does not look like your arrows can damage the creature. Re: OOC III
I was under the impression the bow also had some magic to it. I'll edit my attack.

No, both types of bows are non-magical, though they each give a bonus of some sort.Luis wrote:I was under the impression the bow also had some magic to it. I'll edit my attack.

Got it, thanks.
I really need to clear my inventory when we next get to a town.

Re: OOC III
Luis, I believe the dagger's damage is just 1d4+1.Luis wrote:I think Hedfan only has a 1d6+1 worth of damage at basic proficiency and Saul has a BAB of 2.
So, the stats for Hedfan on your char sheet might look something like this:
1d20+3 (melee), 1d20+4 (thrown - 20/30/45), 1d4+1 damage, Basic Proficiency (+2 base attack bonus, +1 dexterity bonus for thrown weapons, +1 magic dagger bonus)
Also, check out p. 138 in the DD Rulebook for all the little nuances on using Sneak Attacks.

Re: OOC III
I admit that I have been fairly liberal in regards to Sneak Attack, at least as written.

Saul is taking no part of the burial rites, he couldn't be happier to be way from the aberration so he's doing some recon work.

Cool. That was going to be my next question, if you wanted Saul to explore ahead.

Re: OOC III
Couple of things:
1)Is anyone going with Saul?
2)Up until now I have not been rolling random encounters in the Tower, because it was largely abandoned and there weren't any. However, from here on down I will be rolling for random encounters as per the book (i.e. every two turns). Doing things such as cremating a body is likely to increase the chances of such an encounter.

Re: OOC III
I was thinking of heading down and as soon as I get there check for any signs of traps, life and loot, in that order. If nothing can be seen Saul will try using his goggles and he doesn't mind company if anyone wants to join him, he just isn't comfortable with the aberration.
As off topic and OOC as can be, I'd recommend wasting the time and burying it outside, at least so it wouldn't be forever stuck in the tower, or wait until we get back up to be buried. For our peace of mind maybe the piggly bits could be removed and put in a separate room.

Re: OOC III
By the way, I'm editing my Unseen Servant character sheet in my signature to reflect all bonus and combat information under weapons and removing the info I repeated in my signature.
I'll be sure to copy/paste the info whenever we go into combat for TK's convenience but if I don't post it it's because I'm on my dumbphone and can't do that but at least it's readily available without backtracking through our older posts.
The repeated info under my sig will remain for a day or so in case there is something wrong in my character sheet but I'll alter it's size so it make pages longer than they need to be.

Re: OOC III
If it's going to get Bregalad back to normal, then we should burn/bury the corpse immediately. And if burning it inside will attract more attention, we should take it outside.
So sayeth Marodin.
Someone should go with Saul to keep an eye on him.

Re: OOC III
Lanny agrees with the basic strategy of bringing the corpse up to the ground level and either burning it, burying it, or just covering it with leaves somewhere outside the tower (so as not to smoke up the lower levels and/or leave the party susceptible to wandering monsters). He also favors immediately cutting away as much of the stitching as possible (including the stitching around the girl's lips) to separate all the beastly parts from the girl before moving her corpse to the surface and laying it to rest.
Lanny is not in favor of Saul going down to the lower level alone. He is ok with Saul scouting ahead whenever they are all together on the same level, but he feels that going down to the lower level alone leaves Saul susceptible to ambush and a premature death. The only thing more silent and deadly that a stealthy scout is The Undead!
