Cassius

He acts much slower than in his mind, that beast must be quite fast. :biggrin: My mistake.

Determined not to underestimate it this time, he slashes twice with his blade.

Longsword 1 (19): [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20
Longsword Damage (sm): [1d8+7] = 6+7 = 13

2nd attack: Longsword 1 (19): [1d20+3] = 6+3 = 9

Silently hoping for some healing that doesn't happen, Montego continues fighting, despite his many wounds.

Attack w/ 2 Handed Sword [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4 Damage [1d10+5] = 3+5 = 8 :roll:

His devastating injuries are starting to affect his ability to remain in the battle.

Sai

Sai moves back to the area he was launching arrow through to find Montego and Malin fighting out numbered.

Tossing a pinch of sand in the air he casts Sleep centered on G3 hopeing to bring the battle to a fast halt.

He then draws bastard sword and moves in.

30 yards centered on G3.

Round 3 > Wagon Battle
Initiative Order: Cassius (2), Goblins/Worgs (3), Muldgarr (4), Montego (6), Sai (7)

Cassius is amazed at the quickness of his foe...but he is determined not to make the same mistake this time and he digs in deep with his sword, ramming a foot of steel into the beast's ribs...and when he jerks the blade free, there is no blood!
The beast chuckles maliciously and it garbles out some type of words...and Cassius feels a wave of arcane power wash over him.
Save vs: Spell please

The remaining Goblins fight and claw at their attackers, but Montego, Malin, and Muldgarr (the 3 M's) fend them off easily.
Only the worg attacking Kranston manages to catch the Dwarf again, leaping up and biting the chanter in the neck! W5 attack: [1d20] = 16 [2d4] = 4

The taste of Dwarf blood apparently suits the worg for it prepares to lunge again, but Kranson is ready and clubs it on the side of the head, knocking it down! A couple of its teeth fall out, but still it rises and growls viciously.

The loss of blood weakens Montego and the ranger's attacks are similarly weak and easily deflected by the grinning Goblin he is attacking. Malin's attack is likewise ineffective as he backs up against Montego, the pair being encircled by the worg and the two Goblins.
On the wagon nearby, Muldgarr, gripping his wound, curses his Goblin attacker and slashes it across the face with his sword! It squeals, drops its blade, and curses him back in its ugly tongue!

Sai moves back into the gap between the wagons, and tosses a pinch of sand into the air, summoning his magic. A sleepy haze of power settles over the combatants. Both Goblins stagger and fall asleep...and so does the worg!
Malin looks around and says over his shoulder, "What the hell just happened?"

Cassius

When the blade comes back clean, he yells: "What sorcery is this! I need help!" He calls out to the others in an attempt to get some magical assistance. As he does, he feels not quite right...

Sai

Seeing Montego bleeding moves to aid his companion. Moves to Montego to cure him.

Malin, I put them to sleep. Cut their throats all three. They would do the same for you. We still have danger on the other side.

Hold still Montego. I only have one spell left for healing. Might want to stick to the bow for a while until I can heal you better.

Montego also seems confused momentarily when the combatants suddenly fall to the ground. “Damn Sia! Maybe start out with that trick next time, eh?”

Once the elf heals some of his most grievous wounds, the swordsman is reinvigorated, ready to rejoin the fight. “Thank you friend, but we must protect these merchants! And the best way to do that is with steel! If you have some trick that will aid Cassius next, now is the time!”

The ranger charges any enemy he spots within his range, wherever he can help do the most damage.

Round 4 > Wagon Battle
Initiative Order: Cassius (2), Goblins/Worgs (3), Muldgarr (4), Montego (6), Sai (7)

"What sorcery is this! I need help!"
This from Cassius...as his call for help turns into a mournful cry of despair. He drops his weapons and sinks to his knees, head down, face in his hands suddenly overcome with hopelessness. Just a few feet from him in the same wagon, Jasmalus demonstrates a similar reaction, sitting with his arms across his knees, head down, completely despondent.
The creature snarls...is it laughing?...and turns to face the melee.
The remaining Goblin (G4) and Worg (W5) attack Muldgarr and Kranston, but the heroes fend them off easily. However, neither of their attacks gets close to finishing their foes. And then...both of them get a strange feeling...an almost overwhelming feeling.
(Kranston & Muldgarr > please save vs. Spell + Wisdom bonus)

Montego is somewhat confused by all that's happening, chiding Sai for his effective, yet timely intervention. Sai instructs Malin to start slicing the throats of their sleeping foes, while he restores a strong measure of health to Montego. Feeling invigorated, Montego makes short work of the closest foe...that being the Goblin fighting Muldgarr. (Or perhaps he charges around the wagons to attack the Worg which is threatening to eat Kranston. OR...maybe he charges the furry creature who just effed up Cassisus! Let me know! It doesn't change what happens next.)

Montego then looks up and sees the vicious creature, that was once a Goblin, staring at him...and a sinking feeling threatens to grip his heart. (Montego needs to save vs. Spell + Wisdom bonus if any)

While Sai prepares something else amazing...he notices Emerell is crying. She's looking at her dagger, blood still running from the wound in her side. Her beautiful sad face looks up at Sai and she gasps, "What is the use in living in a world filled with so much sadness?"
Her hand shakes as she moves the dagger toward her throat...

Save vs. Spell (for Jasmalus): [1d20] = 7
Save vs. Spell (for Emerell): [1d20] = 7

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alright folks > round 4 is up > and something is seriously wrong! :twisted:
I am not near my maps, so here is what I envision is happening.
Sai moved out into the area where Montego and Malin were fighting the Goblins and Worgs; this move may have just saved his life and the lives of his companions. It will be interesting to see what the next round of die rolls tell us.
Malin is out there with him...just out of range of this creature's spell.
To Chubby, Hotgoblin, Monsieur & Ogre Mage > if you fail your saving throw, you are overcome by feelings of hopelessness and despair. Just FYI.
Actions please and good luck!
Sai
Mentally
Talon, I need your help quickly. Return to me. I need the werewolf on the ground. Knock him off the wagon.
Having heard and seen Cassius unable to harm the beast and knowing that he has no magic weapons to harm the Werewolf Sai tries the only spell that can save Everyone. He cast Entangle centered on the Werewolf/Goblin/Shapeshifter in hopes it will drop its spell to save itself.
Goblin on Muldgarr is fine by me, since this shouldn't last much longer anyway. :lol:
Save vs. Spells (16) [1d20] = 7
Montego isn't sure what is happening in the chaos of battle, but he suddenly gives up any hope of winning it.
He looks into the eyes of the creature who just turned from a goblin into a multi legged worg monster, not certain what to make of it either.
Perhaps this life of adventure wasn't what the ranger really wanted after all.
What will they ever do now?
It's all over, isn't it?
Oh well.
The big man keeps his sword in hand, hanging at his side. He seems to lose all interest in the outcome of this fight.
Round 5 > Wagon Battle
Initiative Order: Cassius (2), Goblins/Worgs (3), Muldgarr (4), Montego (6), Sai (7)
One by one the heroes are overwhelmed by emotion, succumbing to the creature's powerful influence. With a snarl, it calls off the lone surviving Worg (W5) and then jumps to the ground in the middle of the wagons.
Valiantly, Sai attempts to ensorcel its mind...but the creature doesn't even pay him any attention. It's hungry gazed is fixed on the young Elf, Emerell.
But then a roar of rage comes from an unlikely source: Malin.
He charges through the gap of the wagons, sword in both hands, and strikes the creature across the neck and shoulder! His sword cleaves flesh and fur and the creature howls in agony, staggering back from the blow!
Malin attacks: [1d20] = 18 [1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5
"Stay away from her, you sonuvabitch!" Malin growls, his sword slick with black blood.
One by one the heroes who were just contemplating giving up and surrendering to the slavering jaws of this beast...are now shaking off the emotional effects of its spell.
And they know they must drive the creature away before it can regain its hold on them!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alright folks > round 5 is up > and something is happening! The only foes left on the field are the creature and the Worg nearest Kranston's position > W5.

BTW, great job on describing your feelings of despair!

Sai

Does a double take at Malin. Seeing the others coming to life he grabs his bow and jumps up onto the wagon with Emerell. Then looks to the Worg that is on the other side of the wagons. If it runs off toward the trees and is not in danger of hitting my own I will fire on it.

In Elven:
You are safe now. Give me a moment and I will see to your wounds.

If Worg runs.

[1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 Long Bow Attack
Miss

[1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15 Long Bow Attack

If the remaining worg continues its aggression, and if Montego is close enough to do so without penalty, he attacks again.
Attack w/ 2 Handed Sword [1d20+3] = 8+3 = 11 Damage [1d10+5] = 4+5 = 9

However, if the worg flees or is taken care of by the others. Or if it is simply too far away from the ranger, he ignores it completely. Instead, the woodsman pulls a torch from his pack and lights it in front of the changeling monster. He knows his meager weapons cant hurt the strange thing, but perhaps a little fire might do the trick.

He shouts at the beast, hoping Malin, apparently the only one able to injure it, will press his attacks.

"Who are you beast? And what do you want with us lowly travelers? As you can see, we have eliminated your fodder and we do hold the means to hurt you, so cease your attack if you want to live!"

Muldgarr’s feelings of hopelessness seems to be passing...grabs his sword and attacks the ever changing monster, not waiting for it’s response to Montego! I want you to bleed as lava does from a spewing volcano!
