Liam

The noble come farmer finally comes back to his animals. He first checks on his bees to see how they are doing. Inspecting the nets and hive as well as checking for any dead bees or other bugs laying about.

Liam is pleased to find that his bee hives are being kept up, despite his absence lately. It is refreshing to the old noble to know that someone besides himself understands and respects the importance of having a strong hive of bees at your disposal.

The nets have all been repaired, with extra layers added to allow his bees free movement while keeping any larger bugs away from the hives. He does find a few more dead bees once he takes a closer look, but the colony seems to be doing much better without the constant invasions from the local bullies.

He finds almost no other bugs infiltrating his buzzing complex of boxes and nets, and the first signs of honeycomb is starting to develop inside their tiny houses.

Liam moves to his coops next, slightly less happy to only see 2 chicks from his chickens and another 2 pigeons added since he left. There is also one full grown hen missing from the main brood.

When he looks at Joe for answers, the farm hand just shrugs. “Sorry boss. Them snakes is hard ta see sometimes an they get in here before I can spot em.”

Nods. No judgement here, Joe. You're working hard and doing what you can I am proud of you. Snakes are a problem no matter where you raise chickens. What happened to the hen? And how are the other animals doing? Any pregnant ones or births?

Liam needs a big rooster! A Rhode Island Red would spur those snakes to death...

Joe named the rooster after himself. ;)

Joe looks sideways at Liam.

”Births?”

“You do know how these pro-sesses work, dontcha boss? The youngens don’t just plop right out. This stuff takes time.”

“The hen? Whatcha mean boss? Dincha tell the Constable he could have one? Him an his boys came round here earlier. Said they was taking some lunch as payment fer the militia keeping us all safe. Headed straight down ta the cook fires with it. He said he cleared it with ya. Did ya ferget about it er something?”

Joe's eyes grow as wide as saucers.

”Oh, shit. Sounds like ya dont know nothin about that, eh? Well, he claimed ya said it were ok, but he did show a bit of a smirk when he said it. I'm mighty sorry boss. I didnt know the truth. I swear it!”

His tone reflects his fear as he points towards the fire pits.

"It wernt real long ago. Maybe it's still alive?"

Liam

Doesn't even bother asking more questions, he drops his pack so he only carries his hand axe, and his rapier and buckler at his side as he sprints full speed towards the cook fires. As one nears he will call out at the top of his lungs.

THIEF!!! THIEF!!! YOU STOLL MY CHICKEN!!!

Sorry, this one slipped past me.

Liam makes his way to the cooking area, seeing Jombo and one other militia member sitting nearby in some shade sucking on the last of their chicken bones. Glansandi is nowhere in sight. Jombo looks up in fear while the other man speaks.

"We didnt steal nuthin. Yer man gave Constable G this chicken, and he gave half a it to us! Consider it a payment fer keepin the rest a yer animals safe!"

Jombo shakes his head in disgust with an embarrassed look on his face.

"I told ya he was lying to us. I'm sorry Mr. Liam. I can tell yer mad, but I swear I had nuthin to do with this decision!"

One of the cooks walks over, wearing a filthy blood covered apron and carrying a large clever.

"Whats the matter here, friend? Sounds like a little misunderstandin is all. There's no need fer shoutin."

Liam looks like he could eat his hat he is so livid. Still her grinds his teeth and gets control of himself. I don't blame you Jombo. Or your friend... it's that constable taking advantage of Joe. He just took away one fourth of the food supply I have been trying to establish here and he did not consult me about this. This is an immoral seizure of my property! Where is he now?

Jombo looks ashamed as he licks the last of the grease from his fingers.

"He lied to us too then, Mr. Liam. He said that you said it were ok. Lying to yer men aint a real good way show trust."

"He must have known you'd be upset though, cuz he werent round here long after he got it. In fact, he had the cooks chop the bird into halves, and then took his half with him off inta the jungle ta eat alone. Without even cookin it first!

"Damdest thing I ever seen!"

The other militia member just nods in agreement, pointing out the route Glansandi took into the foliage.

Liam goes wide eyed as everything clicks into place. Oh god... the changeling...! Men... I am sorry to tell you this, but our constable... the real one, is likely dead. This is the changeling we have been after. Who is the fastest runner among you? Go to Raythan's house and alert him we might have found the changeling! The rest of you, please gear up and come with me to try to find the constable.

The pair of young militia look very confused by the sudden accusation about their boss, but they both raise their hands when asked who is the fastest.

“Changeling? What the heck you talking about, Mr. Liam? What’s a changeling?”

Liam I apologize gentlemen, there is no time to explain! Jombo, please go get Raythan and muster who you can along the way! Oh, I wish Captain Quark were here...
Sir? What is your name? Please, come with me and show me where you saw the Constable go into the jungle.

He doesn't waste any time and turns on his heel to begin running to the treeline trusting the more youthful militiaman will catch up.

Daisy
Daisy has heard fragments of the discussion, and wanted to ask some of the same questions Liam has- but decided there was no need to get involved. When she hears "Changeling," she decides to join in. She hurries to Liam at the treeline.
So ya'll think you've found him? Great- but how will we know when we catch him?

To Daisy: When is the last time you heard of an elf eating a raw chicken?

I have no idea how we will take him in, but I am willing to think a good old fashioned show of force might do the trick...

Jombo looks unsure what to do, but once he thinks about the raw chicken comment, he takes off running towards Raythan’s home.

Miguel looks sideways at Liam and his bossy orders before responding. “Hi, I’m Miguel. We’ve met, twice now, I think.”

The young fighter rushes to the edge of the jungle a short distance away. “He went in right here. Headed northeast, as far as I could tell. See! There’s a broken branch right there.”
