The Ups And Downs Of Adventuring
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid

Treasure Room Hallway:

After a quick search of the 2 dead kobolds, the druid finds nothing of value on either of them.

Without moving any more statues off the lifting platform, Gramble, Lerrick, and Tlachtga jam themselves all together into the only extremely tight remaining open space available above the raised copper disk. The big fighter, still covered in blood, doesn't mind the accommodations smashed in between the ladies all that much.

He presses down on the copper disk, the top of which has recently morphed into a vision of a squinting snakes eye, and the platform begins to rise again. Grinding under the weight of the heavy statues, the lift eventually rises up through the shaft, stopping just as it once was at the top of the ground floor again. The three nearly dead elevator riders don't see or hear any signs of people or animals, friends or foe, out in the dark tunnels.

Actions?

Junk Room:

Alordan and Andron look over the strange arcane sigils on the parchment with the dais rendering. The priest casts a bit of magic to aid in his reading, certain that this diagram will tell them something. Unfortunately, the writing and magic symbols are far beyond Andron's limited magical knowledge. He thinks the page explains in detail how the dais functions, summoning a live minotaur from some other realm, but the advanced writing will take him a good deal of time to decipher fully.

Maag wraps the body of Cu up in an old blanket, looking over the dead kobolds that Andron dispatched earlier. He finds their bags and packs to be stuffed with shiny silver trinkets, most notably, the little silver light stone stands that were on the shelves in the next room. There are other valuables as well, most of them something a woman might leave on her nightstand. A fancy silver perfume bottle, a decorative jewelry box, etc. The thug estimates the stuffs value at around 250 gold pieces.

Lerrick

Once the trio get to the cave ground level the cleric thinks out loud. I remember that the junk room that Maag and Andron went to explore was found by following the western path from the room at the cave entrance. And I believe the mouth entrance can be found by taking this path. She points to the path to the right of the elevator room.

I appreciate the not so subtle hint! Seems we have a bit more searching to do.

Andronichishche

Andronichishche studies the diagram intently, aided by a spell to interpret the arcane runes and sigils. The frown on his face indicates he's not entirely satisfied with either his analysis, the results of the analysis, or both. "This magic is highly advanced and will require some time to fully understand the design. The function of the dais is indeed to summon a minotaur from some other realm. No indication if it's the same individual minotaur, though."

He looks about the room and the near infinite amount of broken furniture, shredded books, and other objects of an indeterminate nature. His eyes lock onto the partially assembled pieces of the cartouche. Offhandedly he remarks, "Please continue searching, Mr. Alordan. I feel that there is yet more to discover here than I thought." Andron steps over to examine the cartouche and attempts to align the pieces to form coherent, if not immediately understandable, words.

Maag

Maag empties out one of thee kobold bags and stuffs all the valuables in there. Once he hears Andron saying that there might be more things still to find, he goes back to moving and breaking stuff.

Reunited And Everything Still Hurts
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth

The Gramble sandwich pries itself from in between the statues and simply walks away from the lift, heading in the direction of the room of mass destruction, hoping to find their lost friends again. They pass through the entry chamber, step over the dead kobold in the narrow tunnel, and round the bend into the living area of this complex. The first thing they see there is the toppled and broken statue of Sir Crestbrook splayed out across the floor in several large pieces. The reed mats that were in the entry chamber have been dragged into this room, and the body of Sister Theresa is now missing, a smaller chunk of familiar looking stone rubble sits on the corner of the bed where her body once lay. There is a distinct sound of searching coming from the destroyed next chamber over.

Junk Room:

Maag dumps out the garbage from one of the kobolds bags and stuffs only the valuables back inside for easier carrying. He goes back to searching the area nearby but finds only more junk lying under any of the junk he picks up.

Andron cant be sure about the diagram of unusual magnitude, but he encourages Alordan to continue searching all the same. Much like Maag, the ranger finds only more discarded crap under the rags, refuse, and broken furniture.

Andronichishche decides to check out the writing on the stone block near Maag, finding the big words a bit easier to sort out. The thick stone cartouche reads as follows: Gorgonus Meduseasius Maximus What this actually means is anyone's guess.

As they continue searching, the trio starts to hear the telltale sound of footsteps coming towards them from outside the chamber. Has Brutus returned to pay them another visit?

Andronichishche

Andronichishche lowers his light stone affixed bamboo pole to better illuminate the stone cartouche. He silently utters the stone carved words. His eyes widen slightly and for a few moments he remains still, again quietly saying the words. A clattering sound echoes through the room as the bamboo pole is dropped to the floor. Andron stands upright and simply gazes ahead, murmuring, "The minotaurs, the cats, the spiders ... the natives ... it can't be ..." The sound of footsteps, however, electrifies him into action. He quickly retrieves his bamboo pole and cups one side of the light stone to reduce the area of illumination. "Doesn't sound like kobolds," he whispers.

Lerrick

At the sight of the Crestbrook broken into many pieces the cleric gasps. How could that have happened?! she voices out loud in a tone of surprise and anger. She then She stops and offer a prayer to the remains of Sir Crestbrook the Mighty. Now in a much quieter voice of sadness the young cleric kneels down and touches what used to be the right arm of the paladin. Rest in peace Cresty. You were obnoxious but you had a good heart.

Maag

Maag unslings his crossbow, loads it and takes cover behind the nearest pile of junk. Taking aim at the doorway, he waits for his chance.

Reunited And Everything Still Hurts
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth

Upset at the sight of stoned Cresty broken and scattered across the floor, the priests say a prayer before the trio advances into the next room. There they find Maag and Alordan searching through the piles of refuse in the room of mass destruction. They also notice Andronichishche is there too, shirtless and covered in drying blood, carrying a giant shiny key in one hand. He is wounded and looks a bit disheveled, but otherwise appears fine. There are 3 dead kobolds lying on the floor, one of them mutilated horribly, and another figure bundled up in a blanket. When the half-elf sees Tlachtga enter the room, he becomes visibly upset.

Maag holds his fire, unwilling to shoot at his friends while they are so badly injured they can barely walk.

Andronichishche

Andronichishche relaxes and removes his hand from the light stone when he recognizes the other half of the party entering the room. He averts his gaze from Tlachtga, however, his demeanor abruptly changing to a mix of what appears as shame or guilt. He doesn't seem to register Gramble's comments, either. For a few uncomfortable moments his bloodied hands clench several times as he looks furtively between the kobold corpses and the large bundle on the floor. Finally, he steps over the debris to stand before Tlachtga and reluctantly raises his eyes.

"Miss Tlachtga ... I .. am truly sorry ... Mr. Cu is dead. Attacked by kobolds in this very room. I heard the barking ... I tried everything I could to save him ..." He looks back toward the large bundle. "I covered him with my shirt, but when Mr. Maag and Mr. Alordan arrived I insisted we not leave without him." He glances at Gramble. "I apologize if this delayed us and endangered you. Did ... you kill them?" He pauses briefly then adds, "How did they die?", almost in a whisper. Andron blinks and shakes his head, then points to the kobolds. "Sorry, nevermind. Mr. Cu killed one, I punished the others ... appropriately."
