Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Qelnaar
"Lothian, you say there are evil druid-like people living in the woods. As clerics of evil deities can raise the dead into a semblance of life, could evil druids do the same using the natural foliage? As I understand it, nature is nothing but a circle of life and death. From the soil something grows and when it dies, back to the soil it goes. Could an evil druid use that cycle to create these muck monsters?"

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Lothien
"I suppose a powerful druid could use a corruption of a Reincarnate or Resurrect spell and the Earth and Water elemental energies to make these muck monsters. I hate to think of it, but the lifeforce of an expiring person could be used to add power to the magic. Hopefully the people in these things were already corpses and weren't killed. Either way, making them would be a very evil and horrible abuse of Divine Magic."
Lothien takes just a little time to look at the rags on the two corpses before following Sade (assuming Sade has starting moving out). Do they look like clerical garments or monks' robes, or just ordinary clothing?
Investigation
[1d20+5] = 9+5 = 14

(From the rotten remnants of clothing you inspect, its looks to be mainly normal "peasant" clothing.)jemmus wrote:Lothien

A long moment of statue-like silence and the mechanical man speaks again. Inquiry: would it be prudent to check any nearby cemetery?

Rodrigo nods. "Yes. It seems that these woods are home to many loathsome crawling things," he mutters with a baleful glance at the trees. "I will be more than happy to see the others before full dark."
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
(If the group is happy to start off, I'll need a marching order and direction of travel.)

Qelnaar would prefer to be near the middle.
Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
Maybe our two characters with darkvision (Sade and Lothien) in front? Or will we have enought moonlight for everyone to see the way?

At the moment it doesn't look to cloudy but of course that could change as night draws in.jemmus wrote:Maybe our two characters with darkvision (Sade and Lothien) in front? Or will we have enought moonlight for everyone to see the way?

The warforged settles into a place directly behind Sade. His head is on a sqivel once more as he constantly scans around to either side and above, protective as ever.

For "direction of travel":Awwrak gave them accurate directions. Do I need to roll, or can they just follow them?

Sade will do her best to keep everyone on track and moving at a decent pace.

Over the course of the next hour, you tramp through the forest staying alert for any potential enemies.
As you follow the directions Awwrak gave you, you see the vegetation off to the right looks different.
Gaps in the undergrowth and damaged trees stand off to your right side as you proceed down the rough, barely visible trail to meet up with Awwrak and Kura

Re: Chapter One - Into the Shadows
While staying with the group along the path, Lothien peers at the broken foliage area and tries to find signs of what broke things. A large creature? A group of creatures? Tools?
