Vann Hector

I'll go and untie the lantern from the graffiti room. If we go off exploring north, best not leave it shining as a beacon to draw attention to our presence.

"Filbert, Toug, we are going further along some rooms and corridors. We will be back in a couple of hours." he shouts up the hole in the ceiling and checks the npc's are safe and there is no trouble.

Getting a positive answer from above he joins the others in the north room.

Unfortunately, no sooner do the two fighters cross the threshold of the door than a stone wall descends from just above them, cutting them off from the rest of the party!
Harker (who, cleverly, thought to keep his light source) and Jacor see the far door straining against its frame...they estimate it will open in several seconds.

Actions?

Jacor charges the door that is about to burst open, hoping to get to it in time to hold it shut.

did Quall not make it also. And Endor was listening at the door before it got bashed. Did he not step in either? Mal or Blaive? The door descended from on high (and I don't mind traps at all) but it did so after only I posted. Even Jacor never posted actually. Did anyone wedge the sledgehammer to hold the door up?

Hector posted to join us but he was in the rear, on guard by the corridor T junction.

Harker "Trapped like rats in a cage." He looks around. Perhaps the bodies previous adventurers foolishly caught also. He tries to figure out the trap? Maybe a pressure plate on the side of the threshold so no chance of Quall or Endor finding it from the corridor. He has heard of such nefarious schemes. In stories of pyramids and ancient cultures. Falling sand moving granite blocks. He realises he should have studied masonry more not looking after hounds. Who will look after Tyson now?

Wait there is probably a counterbalance mechanism. After all the trap must reset. Oh! ... probably in the room beyond.

"I have only a few gold pieces, not enough to buy my life but I determine to sell it dearly." he says. His only idea is to cast his waist belt containing his purse at the floor of the burgeoning door and smash the two flasks of oil in the pouches open so they pool on the floor with the edge of his blade.

"Step back Jacor. We hold them here. 'Better to burn out than fade away.' It seems like you get the chance to test the value of that broadsword we bought." He says ironically.

"Quickly use the pick as a giant crowbar. We need to lift the stone a few inches so they can crawl under or Endor fire his crossbow. "

The elf directs a practical action as I think trying to bash our way through would be futile.

The wall descended extremely quickly, and (as per the book's description of the trap) only the front rank were trapped: the marching order previously had both fighters in front, so I assumed they were the first to enter here, too. My apologies if I should have waited.
Initiative: [1d6] = 1[1d6] = 2. And for Vann: [1d6] = 5
Unfortunately, the door bursts open before Jacor can get there. There emerge from the room beyond seven skeletons! The skeletons are not...like you imagined: not clean white bones, but cracked all over, with rotted flesh clinging, and strange in other ways: one skeleton hops on one foot and has three skulls growing from its spine, another has teeth erupting from every plate of bone, a third has six limbs and crawls like a spider...Sanity checks, please.

From the other room, Vann Hector levers the stone wall up, with an enormous strain of effort. Jacor and Harker think they can crawl under...
What do they do?

Sanity check (with -2 for wisdom) = 6 (http://www.unseenservant.com/default.as ... mpaign=811)

Definitely failed that one. Jacor turns to run back to the entrance to crawl under the propped up wall if there is time.

Harker

Still smashes his flasks of oil and throws his torch onto the leaking lantern fluid. I want to create some barrier between us though I expect the mindless undead to still walk through it.

"Go Jacor, you have a window of escape, I don'T think I can hold them back for long."

maybe some covering fire of crossbow bolts and magic missiles or an outstretched arm with holy symbol ...

He advises his comrade to withdraw and slither on hus belly through the gap under the stone door. Hopefully he can fend any skeletons off to be able to make next round.

Harker longsword melee [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8 [1d8+1] = 5+1 = 6
Harker Sanity check vs 13. [1d20] = 18

He would run too but stage fright has got too him.

pleased the leverage of the pick is enough to lift the stone a few inches creating a gap to crawl through. Dwarven crafted obviously. He puts hus full weight on the pick handle knowing it will not hold for long, straining to lever closed again.

"Guys my strength will give out. I need a couple to help keep the Damn thing open. You others grab their legs and pull them through."

He imagines as he can't see, Jacor and Harker sliding loke a baseball slogger running to touch base.

Jacor dives to the ground before the door and crawls through as quickly as possible.

Both Jacor and Harker are able to crawl through the gap (given the breadth of the wall). The stone clangs down, heavily, behind them.

The sudden shift from nervous calm to traps and excapes has Endor agitated "What happened, you lot look like you've seen some spectre?"

Harker

inventory adjusted

"Maybe Blaive can comment on the thought process of mindless undead. But those skeletons looked like none I'd ever seen before." He describes what he saw.

With the stone dropping, the trap may reset sometime soon and the door lift up. Let us press on quickly before it does.

There was another door on north side of the corridor, let us go that way and check it out.

"Well, it seems you got out just in time by the grace of the gods."

He let's go of the miner's pick, the door being too heavy to lever up. It was a good thing we bought one with us. Maybe slowly prise the next door open. We have time and two skilled thieves with us. He looks at Quall and Endor.

"Well, treasures won't liberate themselves. The next door on the north."

He carries on with the suggested plan, carrying a lantern and exchanging his bow for a sword.

As you've already mapped the area, I'll let you return there while still on turn 2.

You head 40' east to the next northern door: also wooden and swollen shut, requiring an Open Doors roll to force.

"Skeletons" Endor grumbles. He slings his crossbow, having little use against such undead. He checks the next door for traps and noise, if it hasn't been done before. Otherwise he assumes his position in the marching order, sling at the ready.

I forget, do we use slashing/piercing/bashing damage?

Harker

"Well it was suggested we rotate the risks so as Jacor and I entered the last room first we will be back up this time. So Endor, you're up with another volunteer. Then the last trio get the next room."

While we check this door out I believe there is a door opposite too on the south. So rather than be in the same spot twice,.I will instruct Quall to copy the half-orc in preparation for exploring that one.

"Good idea." He taps the half-orc on his shoulder. "We got this."

He will advance into the room though he chooses not to step on the threshold flagstones in case another lintel drops a stone door or portcullis to trap him in.

"I don't share your enthusiasm" grumbles Endor, getting in position. Once the door is open, he plans to leave his axe leaning against the frame to hopefully stop anything from sliding all the way down.

Nah

Endor and Quall check their respective doors. Both listening and checking for traps take 1 turn each.

Endor finds no traps and hears nothing. Quall likewise finds no traps, but does hear noises behind the door...some sort of rodentine skittering, he thinks.
