When Daisy hears about Owen, she smiles broadly, a bit starry-eyed. Oh, glory! Someone actually went to live with those beautiful critters? Ah hope Ah get to meet him sometime. Ah wonder if he could be our interpreter. Ah'm sure he's learnin' their language...
After a few minutes of gushing, Daisy returns to the original topic. Ah'll still need some folks to help me build a clinic. The Constable said he'd send a man- but Ah got to say, he's got some problems, so Ah won't count on him.
The common folks band around the sister as expected, agreeing to help her cause as best they can for the benefit of the growing town.

“Do you think that with all the talk about moving the whole town somewhere else, we might want to do some pre planning or at least make sure we do as much of the construction in a temporary fashion as possible?”

OK 10 gold it is. I will see you in a couple days. Thanks for the work. I may be back when my gold increases for that grappling hook. All depends on how much gold I can gather. Hopefully I can fashion those arrowheads to make them hold on to fish when you shoot them in the water. On second thought, here I will pay you up front and you can just leave them in my tent, its the one with the tarp full of sea water outside of it. There should be a couple barrels sitting beside it too. Thanks again, I will be seeing you from time to time as I get new projects to do.

Counts out ten gold and hands it to the smith.

Daisy

Daisy nods. Yes, Ah heard about all that, too. Ah'm actually tryin' to make it happen. So, yes, honey- as long as 'temporary' don't mean 'sloppy and half-hearted', Ah agree with ya'll. Maybe we kin make panels that we lash together- then, when Movin' Day comes, we can just untie them and carry the clinic lin a stack.

Ah'd love to make it a proper Halfling burrow, but this sand won't let that happen.

True to her own evaluation, Daisy is NOT any good at construction- but she's a dynamo for gathering supplies, braiding rope, weaving mats, and so forth.

The commoners agree with the sister and begin by helping her collect materials.

“I know. Since real lumber is scarce, maybe we weave the walls out of thatch, like a basket. Those will be far lighter to carry around if the place does need to be moved some day.”

“How big do we want to go with this thing? You think two rooms will be enough?”

The Knife

Early in the morning, The Knife appears at the common house.

"I have an offer of employment for anybody interested. My armor needs to be scrubbed clean of salt after being dropped in the ocean, and generally spruced up. My hands are very small. It will take me all day."

"I'll pay three gold to anybody willing to clean it up for me today".

The Knife

The Knife leads them back to his shack, hands over the gear and tells them to knock on the door when they're done. Then he goes back inside and locks the door.

I'll deduct the money now, on the assumption it just gets done without a hitch

He goes to the cooking area and looks for some one who may be in charge.

He are you in charge of the cooking here? I was told by Randall that you would be interested in purchasing salt. Is that you? I have another half pound if your interested and I came to collect the 2 sliver for the last pound. I will have more in the future if you are still interested in getting more.

An ugly human with a big nose holds his hand out to take the salt.

“We’ll take as much salt as you got, mister. We can use it to help cure meat before smoking. The meat, not.....well.....never mind.”

“Can’t pay ya nuthin tho, since it’s fer the good of the community and all that. I’m sure ya understand, right?”

Well I suppose it is ok. But if I bring you a full hog ham would you smoke and cure it for me since I am providing the salt. Smoked Pork over an open fire is some good eating. Now I just have to find a wild island hog running around. Here is another half pound of salt from the first batch. I should have more in around 3 to 4 days.

Hands the half pound bag to the cook.

Liam leads Grimm and Daisy to a small cabin in the jungle to see his friend Raythan, a former adventurer turned hermit. Cealwyn, having visited the half-elf once already, decides not to accompany the trio.

Not far from Liam’s own farmstead is Raythan’s place, a humble but sturdy building of logs and thatch. The spellcaster sees Liam approach from a distance and meets him outside.

“What’s the meaning of this visit, master Liam? Do your chickens need a fresh place to stay again?”

As usual, Liam can’t tell if his dour new friend is joking or not.

Liam

With arms outstretched in an exaggerated way and an even more exaggerated smile: Raythan! So nice to see you as well my friend! Tell me, how are you? I trust the past couple days have treated you well?

Raythan smiles back, but tries to remain focused.

"Well, if I actually enjoyed company, I suppose I would be pleased, what with all the intrusions I've had recently."

"I suppose you and your friends would like to come inside where the bugs arent as bad?"

Liam

Smiles. As you wish, my friend, as always.

Once they are inside: My friend, I am unsure if you have noticed or not, but there is something wrong with Glasandi, our constable. He seems very sick, feverish, pale, prone to extreme mood swings and paranoia. Liam goes on to explain in detail the happenings lately from the Constable attacking him when trying to set up a rescue party to his cowering in the barracks when the stoneguts came, and his odd behavior since. I don't pretend to understand what this could be, but whether he is ill or under some kind of bewitchment, I thought a man of your skill would be able to make a real assessment and work on a solution. I am just baffled myself.

Grimm bows swiftly, his hood covering his head with the movement. "Grimm. My pleasure, master Ryathan." He then shakes his hand and puts the hood back in place. "Thank you for your hospitality." He enters and takes a look to the interior of the hut, his curiosity taking the best of him.

Ok, maybe not.

Raythan replies to Liam, offering a seat and some tea to anyone interested.

"Marge has told me as much, but I havent seen any proof of this behavior myself. What are you proposing we do about it? Has he been approached yet? Do we have any options on how to deal with this?"

Once Grimm makes his introduction, Raythan turns to him with a very serious demeanor, almost as if he were hoping to address the dwarf.

"Grimm eh? Sounds like a good name for a dwarf. Tell me master Grimm, what do you know about these Stonegut dwarves who have invaded our little island? Do you have any affiliation with them?"

Looking around the cabin, Grimm finds it to be very well built and actually a little cozy. Though a basic and simple log home, compared to the rest of the buildings he has seen here so far, other than the Hi-Lo, this place is much nicer by far.
