Liam

The old man whistles a bit. There is a lot there... I am glad you managed to survive all that. This Bonnie... her name always seems to come up right before someone says and then something bad happened. I hope to get to meet her one day very soon and bring her in in for some good old fashioned questioning. Something about her is just not right, and if she is causing a civil war with the natives, then there is even more she has to answer for.

Speaking of factions, I am leaning more and more to the idea that the Phanatons are made up of multiple groups as well. Snarku is one we have spoken to so he is the more local one, and the ones we encountered near the temple seemed different as well. I am fairly certain that the group that we met on the beach back there were of a different lot as well. Maybe the group that fed us after the raid on the pirates for that matter. We are surrounded by factions and limited to no way to really communicate with all of them. And now we might well be dealing with one of our own with the Constable and his men.

We need to speak to Jumbo and see just what we are dealing with here. We must get ourselves taken care of before we can hope to deal with any of these other problems. I just hope we can do so peacefully and soon before these other problems come calling.

Ugh.... my head is starting to hurt again.

He looks to Marge and Caleb. So a possible split in our own town between the townsfolk, one faction maybe lead by the Constable...

The Stoneguts.

Up to but not necessarily limited to 4 factions of Phanatons.

and at least two factions of native tribesmen.

At least the pirates are dealt with. Have I missed anyone?

Marge speaks up again.

“I don’t think the town is split, but I do think Glansandi might have a man er two on his side. Jombo would know fer sure.”

The dwarv....Stoneguts are a concern sure, but they have kept to themselves up till this point. I think if we avoid them, they’ll avoid us. You could say the same bout the phanaton, no matter how many they is.”

“The natives ain’t tried nothin on us, an we left em be because of it. But I definitely think we could learn and benefit from being neighborly and helping each other out.”

Grimm

"I agree with what you both said. The Phanaton having different tribes makes it all harder for sure, specially if we wanted to unite everyone. Maybe some of those tribes are even confronted in warfare...

We still have to know also what survived of the main indigene village. If the same people that were being manipulated by this elf have been killed or exiled, things change a lot too.

What about this: I'll accompany you to see Glansandi, see what comes out of it, and then will try to form a group to scout the jungle, next to the river and up to the lake and know what's going on? I think we have to know what's going on with the natives before we start worrying about the Phanatons.

Also we can find a good point to move the whole town to... and negotiate that with the natives, of course. The ideal thing would be to stablish it next to the river, of course, so there's fresh water and a way for the ships coming from the mainland to dock next to it... Although I take you already figured all that out.

And, one more thing, please, don't spread the word about this Protector. The natives trusted me enough to let me see it, and they don't want to talk about it. It's sacred to them. The less people that know about it, the less stir would be.

Anyway, like I said, if you want to go see the constable, I'll come with you before going to the Treehouse and talking with Daisy, Dexter and whoever might want to join."

Sorry for the messy reccount previously. Writing a long post in your second language with your girlfriend interrupting every other minute in your third language made it even harder... Being messy also helps

No need to apologize at all K, I’m sure it isn’t easy for common speaking humans to understand every word a dwarf says either, but we all get the point. :D

I know there is a lot going on in this game, but I do expect players to remember who their characters have gone on adventures with before. Liam and Bonnie are already well aquatinted.

Both Marge and Caleb hold their hands up when immediate plans are mentioned again.

Caleb tries to understand it all but has a confused look on his face.

“Slow down, slow down. This is so much to process. Taking this one thing at a time might help. Master Grimm, I’m sorry, but you keep mentioning something like indigenes or indijins. What are you talking about, please? Is that a Dwarven word that I don’t understand?”

To Caleb. I believe this was a word used by the pirates on arrival here that was Indigenous... meaning people of this land in the old language, and the natives themselves adopted it, but mispronounced it as Indejins.

"Powstap, a holy man of these natives, told me that they call themselves In-di-juns." He says this pointing his finger to the sky. "I think it's the way this Kelief called them and they adopted the name. Or maybe it's the name they introduce themselves to foreigners with. I can't recall his exact words.

At any rate, Powstap mentioned this Kelief several times. He said he helped them a lot and then the pirates took him away in their ship... He was asking me time and again about going searching for him. I told him it's most probable he won't be able to come back... Anyway he showed great respect and appreciation for man.

Do you know who this Kelief might have been?"

Marge and Caleb nod their heads in unison.

"Indigenous? Yes, that does make much more sense. I can see how the natives might have gotten that pronunciation wrong."

"And yes, we both knew Kelief. He lived here for a while. He was a good man! A holy man! He helped out so much with the sick and injured people here. I heard that he went into the jungle to live with the natives. Perhaps he and this Powstap became close and started teaching each other things?"

"As to his whereabouts, who can say? I havent seen the young man in weeks now."

"Oh. It's a pity that he disappeared. Probably they took him as a slave or something, the damned pirates." He takes a deep breath. "Anyway, like I said, if you want to start moving, I'll be coming with you to see Glansandi, see what comes out of the meeting, and then go search the others at the Treehouse and try to convince them for a new forray into the jungle, and see what's going on. I think we should secure our friendship with the natives before we start moving the whole village! After all that, we'll have to start to get acquintanced with... Phanaton politics. Ha!" He smiles.

Nodding replies: I agree. Our first step is to go find Jumbo for now and see what kind of intel he can give us on what is going on, then I think we should approach the problem with our confounded constable himself. Shall we?

As luck would have it, Jombo is suddenly spotted off in the distance, and he appears to be walking in your direction.

When he gets a little closer, he realizes that 4 people are staring directly at him. Knowing Marge well enough he says hello.

"Whatever it was, I didnt do it!"

Liam grins. That was a common saying in his younger days that passed his lips often. Not to worry, my friend. We just has some questions about what has or rather hasn't been going on around here since the pirtate expedition. Has the Constable been acting strangely? I hear he never even stepped out of his barracks when the Stoneguts came into town and started harassing folks here.
And why was he so hostile when we mentioned the rescue party you accompanied us on?

Jombo appears relieved when he hears that he isnt in trouble. The young human thinks about the questions for a while, looking deeply into the faces of each person present before responding.

"Im glad it isnt just me who's noticed. Ya, I would say that he has been acting a little different lately. Mean. Aggressive. I hate to say it, but I am starting to think that his power has gone to his head. What else could it be?"

"He hired on 2 more fighter types for our militia. But that was before what happened to..........Greff. They told me that Glansandi actually ordered them to stay inside the barracks when the dwarves invaded."

Grimm crosses his arms and lowers his brow, thinking, before he says: "That's strange... I would assume that he was afraid of the Stoneguts, but... What if he made some kind of pact with them? Does he keep some kind of record of the things he make?"

Liam Chuckles a little. Dear Diary. Today I made a pact with the Stonegut Dwarves in a conspiracy for my own personal gain. I sure hope nobody reads you! P.S. I like Pie.

He rest a hand on Grimm's shoulder. Joking aside, it had crossed my mind as well. Perhaps an agreement to not act? I think we should have this on a maybe category but not necessarily come to a conclusion. What are the demeanor of these two new recruits and the rest of the militia? Are they hesitating at all? Do they seem to support this behavior?

Jombo thinks for a moment.

“I’m not sure about any agreements with the dwarves. He never mentioned anything about dealing with them. The new guys said he seemed unsure what to do when the dwarves showed up, like he was scared er something. That doesn’t sound normal to me.”

“Well, there is only 5........4 of us left now. But I wouldn’t say any of us support our leaders cowering in times of need or getting angry and aggressive with someone in public when they don’t listen to you. We ain’t thugs. We’re the Beachtown militia!”

The young man says this with honest pride in his voice.

Grimm looks sidewise at Liam. "Yeah... I also like pie. But I didn't mean anything as obvious, but maybe a list of goods he would get in exchange for his passivity when the Stoneguts came into town.

But if Jombo says he looked afraid, that makes sense to me. The Stoneguts are numerous and it's...

Hold on! Now I've thought about something. Remembered what I told you about the native chieftain acting differently or, rather, being suddenly hostile to me because of this... Mysterious elf woman manipulating him? Have you by any chance seen anyone new in town that resembles an elven woman and that has become close to him? It's strike me as weird that he suffered so suddenly a personality change."

At Grimm's revelation, Liam blinks as well. That does make sense... To think that it was so sudden a personality shift and with the same effect... no matter how small a faction even if in the end it is someone in the leadership that is a faction of one it would still seed distrust. Damn, that elf might be at it again here... but what would she gain from all that? Do we have a way to find out if he is bewitched? Hmmm... Daisy might be key to this... if she could be off to the side where it is less obvious... quietly ask her god for some insight if Glansandi is under some kind of charm or be able to dispel it... Do we know where she is at the moment? Last I knew she was taking care of that big fighter, Keg.
