Thanks!

*hucks his gear over to a seemingly empty bunk and lays it out on the bed*

So what do we got going on? No better way to get acclimated to a new job than to jump right in!

Yeah its pretty big, old timey demon may be in town preying on the guilty. we are currently working on a way to stop that and about to head out to follow up. You can ride with us to the cemetery, or they are head back to the courthouse. Either one will prob show you some action and we can fill you out all the way.

takes the paperwork I'll get this filled out ASAP. scribbles hastily In my experience, a courthouse can be just as creepy as a cemetery, but, the cemetery is always good for some action, I'll tag along there.

The Firehouse:  Home Sweet Home

Warm and Breezy

The day is warming up but still there is a cool north breeze moving through town. The traffic is heavy by Fort Smith standards, but overall getting around doesn't cause any real trouble. How does Sam arrive for his first day on the job?

Actions?

Sam arrives to the front door of the station with a large hard shell cat carrier in both hands. Balanced on top is a worn leather satchel overflowing with loose papers and notebooks - a few colored pencils drop out of it onto the pavement outside the front door and are left behind. After a brief struggle with the door and with the carrier catching on the door jamb Sam stumbles into the lobby. Sorry to be late on my first day! Hrothgar (the 18lb cat in the box) is fresh from the dentist and needs to be with me for the next few days The effort to get the large carrier through the door unbalanced the satchel on top and it spills to the floor. Here's all my filled in paperwork!

Julia looked up from her desk at the bumbling older man and hurried up to help but apparently all too late. She looked down at the paperwork on the floor and smiled through an oh crap... look. Hello! Mr. Strictland, right? Here let me help you.

She quickly gathers up the paperwork and the briefcase, taking them to her desk to reorganize in a moment. I'm afraid everyone is out on investigations right now, but you can make yourself at home in the meantime. For all I know, they are heading back any minute now. Did you have trouble finding us?

Brushing off his coat as he straightens up - the cat's sedated moans coming from the crate. Sam will do fine! No trouble at all, your directions were perfectly clear. Can me and Hrothgar here just take a seat over there in the waiting area? Sam grabs the crate and already begins moving in the direction of the chairs.

Julia Nods. Sure, make yourself at home. The living space is upstairs if you think you would be more comfortable. She begins to sort the paperwork and get everything in order, making sure to put anything not business related to the Firehouse back in the briefcase as best she can. She gets the remaining company phone out and begins setting it up with her computer for Sam, get his personal paperwork copies, ID, etc.

Julia, may I use one of these rooms up here on the left to let Hrothgar out for a bit before other staff return? Sam says as he folds his reading spectacles and tucks them back into a shirt pocket. Is there any chance I could also get a pot of coffee brewing?

Julia was bringing him his company phone and papers anyway, as well as his briefcase with his personal effects. Yeah, that is all fine. Pots just over there. I would just say keep the cat out of the meeting room over there. They have a lot of research going on with those whiteboards. I can't make heads or tales of most of it.

Sam gathers his belongings and the cat carrier and heads in the direction of the coffee. The sputtering sounds of the coffee maker wind down as Sam fills a mug and sets it atop the carrier with his satchel, company phone, and papers. Grabbing the whole peculiar arrangement in both arms Sam heads out of the lobby - and not certain which room is which - goes into one of the rooms and lets Hrothgar out of the carrier. I'll just be in here.

As Sam's phone comes on, it updates a few of the apps and soon he is getting live updates from the readings by both groups, giving him plenty of data to browse should he choose to.

The team at the Historic Sites seems finished with their investigation, and there were some strong readings taken from the last location labeled "Jail" which look impressive.

There is also ongoing readings updating from the group at Oak Cemetery as they scan multiple hot spots and take pictures and notes. There are some notes on Black Slime Ectoplasm as well.

Information from the Oak Cemetery interests Sam and he spends some time marking notes in a small journal before getting distracted and having his interest piqued by an article in a prominent science periodical about mycorrhizal networks.

He shifts to drafting a group text to introduce himself to other members of the staff and accidentally sends them a link to the article with no message attached.

Sam looks over the information and a couple other articles that catch his attention.

Roll me a normal Brains. That will be your Brains Stat in dice. Your stat is 3, so you will roll 3d6 v 10. If you roll 10 or more, you will be successful. Make this your Macro in the roller for that:
