By the sword's intro

#1 Post by by_the_sword »

Greetings folks. It was recommended that I check this site out because I am interested in pbp gaming. I am rather new to pbp, but not at all new to roll-playing games, having been a player and a GM since the 1980's, playing games like D&D, Traveller, and frankly most of the TSR rpg's like Boot Hill, Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Top Secret and others. During the 90's I got into other systems like White Wolf and the R. Talsorian stuff ( I really dug Mekton. Anyone remember that?). After 2nd ed. D&D rules got too gonzo for my tastes (I'm not knocking 2e, so edition warriors please accept my unconditional surrender), I just started making up my own RPG stuff as I went along. By the late '90's my gaming had dropped off to almost nil. It wasn't until 2005-6 that I resumed gaming at a table top. I now participate in a 3.x D&D game once per month but I was hoping to do a little bit on the side online.

I am hoping that I can satisfy my gaming itch on here as my real life schedule is quite insane. Thanks for reading this and good gaming to you all.

Heh bts is already in a game, before he even got here. :D
I believe he joined Bloodaxe's game when it was originally over at Goblinoid Games.

Welcome to the boards!!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Welcome sword. I do enjoy much of 3.x as well. Dungeon Crawl Classics, Castles and Crusades, and MicroLite do a decent job of providing some mix of old editions with streamlined rule-sets.

For all of your listening pleasure.
