11. Return to O'Hare
The Sleeping Dragon Inn
Sorry, all, busy day and bad timing led to the delay of this, which may affect or negate some of the most recent posts.
---
O'rek is first to approach the Dragon, walking up to the front door and knocks. "Hello in there! He--" he stops short. Are his ears deceiving him, or did he hear a noise? Like a soft bang, or a knock.
The cleric, curious, and hoping to elicit another reaction, continues: "Why, I hope you aren't keeping all that fine wine locked up from payin' customers!"
Nothing.
The cleric looks back to the ranger with a quizzical look, almost as if seeking confirmation that he wasn't the only one that heard what he did.
Gwillt, nearly caught shaking his head at the carelessness of the newcomer, nods affirmation. At least for the immediate future, the ranger keeps his eyes trained and his bow readied, watching out any movement or signs of life, but he also keeps his ears glued to the Inn.
The others, sensing the reactions of O'rek and Gwilt, move closer to inquire about their findings. Gwilt quietly explains how they both believe they heard a brief something from inside the Inn, but nothing since.
---
If you want to remain at the Inn to explore this potential sound further, you're welcome to. If not, you can continue with your previously stated actions or post something entirely different... it's up to you.

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Grimnail, seeing the others reactions reactionary the dragon, points to himself and motions that he will go around to the back, intending to find a back door or window to flank whatever me be hiding within.
Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Kaltar still looks around the building as previously described but will keep an eye on what the others do too
Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Gwillt approaches the front door of the inn and puts an ear to it. He lightly raps on the door with a knuckle and says, "Anyone in there? It's me - Gwillt. The ranger from the group what was here the other day." After a moment of silence, he adds, "Look, we ain't trogs! Can't you smell? We just want to see if everyone is OK."

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Hearing the knocking from the front Grim quickens his pace to reach the back, looking for a window or door to enter.
Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Ewell stands near the ranger and calls out. Folks, we need answers in order to help you. Let us in.

At the Door
Gwillt approaches the front door of the inn and puts an ear to it. He lightly raps on the door with a knuckle and says, "Anyone in--" Another soft bang or knock interrupts the ranger.
---
Grimnail, at the first sound of knocking performed by Gwilt, rushes around the inn in order to cover any possible rear exit. Kaltar and the rest of the group remain on high alert; carefully scanning the immediate area to guard against possible visitors.

"It's me - Gwillt. The ranger from the group what was here the other day." Gwilt continues. Ewell moves alongside the ranger and tries his hand at elliciting a reaction: "Folks, we need answers in order to help you. Let us in.
Nothing.
After a moment of silence, Gwilt adds, "Look, we ain't trogs! Can't you smell? We just want to see if everyone is OK."

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Ewell asks the ranger, "Y'all did hear something, right? (The voiceover of Ewell will now be read by Rhett Butler) "I think we have given sufficient warning. Let's open it up and see what's what. Maybe they left some clues inside. At least it gives us reference as to before and after. The rest of the town, we aint never seen.
He looks for a door or window that would be easiest to open.

Fittingly, the cavalier is responsible for the 3,000 post! +300xponlyme wrote:Ewell asks the ranger, "Y'all did hear something, right?
The train has not been smooth today, but I will attempt to update all the experience points, but it may not be until later.
Congratulations, guys, keep it up.

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
"well, now, I've heard plenty a' things in my short time - some true, some not true, and some just plain crazy - but I heard somethin' inside there just as you are standin' before be, " O'rek mentions quietly. "Hmm..... interesting. 'spose it's not unheard of considering the terror this town just went through as you mentioned. I don't suppose I'd be eager to open the door either -- so I'd be real cautious opening that too quickly and spookin' the folks inside..."
Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Scanning around, to the south and west, Shannigans leaves the boarded window and watches everyones 'back'. The young halfling seems slightly more mature and confident in his ability to guard the group, somehow.

Strom looks around along with the others.
Advancement
Four characters advanced in level: Strom, Shannigans, Ewell and Kaltar (3rd level) (Epsilon is very close to third level, too).
Strom, Shannigans and Ewell reached second level, which will be free. Strom and Ewell still need to roll for their new hit points.
Kalatr gains the ability to cast second level spells. Before he will be able to cast them, however, he needs to pay or donate 2,250 gold pieces before being able to cast spells of the higher level. You do get your new hit points immediately, however.

Clerical Healing
By the way, per the following rule in the Cleric details, Kaltar will begin restoring a minimum of 3 hit points per cure spell (Epsilon is 2; O'rek is 1):
Notes:
1. All "Cure [severity] Wounds" spells will heal a minimum of 1 damage per level of the caster (You will roll results normally and raise any rolled amount up to the casters level if the rolled amount is lower.)

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Grimnail will re-memorize snore of healing.
Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
You may want to ignore my other question as I've seen your answer above but to clarify - everything but 2nd level spells are immediately available right? Eg turning improvement, any increased numbers of 1st level spells (haven't checked if this applies yet but its a theoretical question anyway), thaco (if it has chnaged)? Etc

Ewell rolled Cavalier's additional level HP: [1d12] = 11 +3const =14+orig 16 = 30... Now, he's ready for those !#$%^& trogs.

Re: 11. Return to O'Hare
Correct... for the most part.saalaria wrote:...everything but 2nd level spells are immediately available right?
At these early levels, if it's an existing skill that is just increasing in the likelihood of success, that increase is free. If it's a completely new ability (e.g. spells of a higher casting level, the ability to turn a previously unturnable creature, etc..., those will require a financial payment or donation of some kind.
