Maag
When Brutus turns his back on Maag, the half-orc decides to forego his mirror. He steps up behind the monster and delivers the attack he saves for his worst enemies and closest friends. Backstab!
'arry the Bastard Sword (THACO 18) [1d20] = 14 Dmg S/M [2d4+5] = 6+5 = 11 Dmg L [2d8+5] = 10+5 = 15
+2 for Faerie Fire
+4 for backstab
Double damage.

Carucenus forgoes watching at the floor anymore while the creature isn't facing him. Shocked by Sir Creestwoods fate for a moment, his warrior instincts quickly make him to get back to the combat and try to hack at the vile creature with his long sword.
Long Sword - To hit [1d20] = 9; Dmg: S/M [1d8] = 6 L [1d12] = 10
+2 for FF.
Darn it, man, when will this bloody dice roller allow me to land a hit?

Gruesome Revelations
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth
Morning, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Humid
The monster glares at Alordan with its distorted, unnatural eyes, as if it is trying to drill into the rangers head with its crazed visage. Feeling his body start to tense, Alordan somehow shakes off the effect of this things horrid yellow and purple peepers, allowing him to move freely again. (please see your private thread) He and his friends dont waste the opportunity, hacking away at the monster with all of their might, all but Carucenus hurting the beast badly. (Sorry Maag, but a Backstab is only allowed when the recipient doesn't know you are there. Once you are engaged in combat, I cant allow the benefits of a surprise sneak attack, regardless of how many other combatants are involved.)
Saracen steps away from the beast as he starts calling for his powers of Pholtus to blind it by the light. Andron also starts casting a spell after telling Mina to call out to the beast by what he now believes to be the monsters real name, Marquees. Lerrick encourages this action, so Mina complies, shouting out to it in her frail female voice. "Marquees! Stop this!"
Just as it is about to start smashing into its next victim, Marquees is indeed distracted by this ploy, a strange calmness overtaking his horribly crazed features momentarily. When it looks longingly in Mina's direction, Androns magical missiles shoot from his fingers and strike the beast unerringly at the same time that a globe of light suddenly appears before its dangerous eyes.
Bleeding badly, the glowing monster simply hangs its head towards the ground, as if it is thinking about something or in some kind of deep concentration. It doesn't attack again, instead just staring at the stone floor at its feet.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche stares in astonishment at the transformation in behavior that came over the monster. He quickly holds up his hands in a gesture of restraint. "Stay your attacks, but be ready to strike ...", he whispers. While keeping a close watch on any changes in its demeanor, he whispers to the group again, "He may be able to restore Sir Crestbrook and Talkhor ... Mina, please ask him why he is doing this."
Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen Looks astounded at the wizard-priest. Are you crazed? He turned the paladin to stone. The warriors friend. All the Minotaurs. He raped Mina’s friend. You want to know why? Let’s give him a chance to escape and continue his reign of terror why don’t we. I think he might just be misunderstood. Probably a really good guy underneath all the raping and murder!
If the others comply with Androns nuttiness Saracen will see about the dust the company discovered instead of finishing off their foe.
If whomever has it is willing, he will try and sprinkle some over Cresty and see if it has any effect.
You should at least knock him out so he doesn’t phase out of here and escape. We have little magic or strength left for another assault from him. the grim toothed half-orc says nodding at suddenly sad Jack the Ripper there. My blinding light will last over an hour, but he could be anywhere by then.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche was better prepared now for this response from the champion of Pholtus. It was not unexpected, but he's also not entirely sure he can convince Saracen on his plan, as pholtites tend to be rather ... determined ... in their destruction of evil. "I am well aware of what Marquees has done, Brother Saracen. He must also be held accountable for his crimes, but we still know very little about what has happened here. Is the medusa still alive? Did we only release her soul from imprisonment in the amulet?"
He points to the now strangely calm, towering monster. "He may be the only one who can tell us. Besides, we're not even sure this dust will work. It may actually be harmful, like the scroll tube." He retrieves the glass vial of magical dust from a shirt pocket and briefly peers at its contents. "Perhaps an augury to guide us? Would applying this dust restore Sir Crestbrook?"

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan hears none of this conversation as he goes toe-to-toe with such an unusual and superior foe! His mind goes from image to image in a frenzy - Cresty to stone, Devlin eaten alive, and, of course, the island itself - over and over in a split second. Pain, anger, frustration. He spins again with a grace born of skill - or desperation - and cleaves powerfully at the monster before him.
Long Sword Attack [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21 (THACO=18)
Long Sword Damage(+1 str/+1 weapon) = S/M: [1d8+2] = 8+2 = 10 / L: [1d12+2] = 9+2 = 11
OOC: whew! i needed that one!

Gramble ignores the worthless babbling from the peanut gallery and does what needs to be done in ending the threat

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Ah! A glaringly large flaw in my otherwise perfect plan!
Oh well, I think he did some decent damage anyway.
Maag
When he sees Brutus drop his defenses, Maag moves in for the kill. "YER!!!". Then he hears Andron's plea to hesitate. He holds his blow, until he hears Saracen's call to slay Brutus. Maag raises his sword again, then lowers it upon hearing Andron's further explanation. He waits a further moment looking between the two of them. Then sees Alordan and Gramble continue their attacks. Maag decides to take the easy option as well. "ARGH!!!"
'arry the Bastard Sword (THACO 18) [1d20] = 10 Dmg S/M [2d4+5] = 6+5 = 11 Dmg L [2d8+5] = 3+5 = 8

Tlachtga tries not to look at its face but keeps looking for any opening she can move into and attack. "Andron hit him with another spell if you can otherwise shut up and let others do what must be done."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Carucenus grits his teeth, thinking if he has to control himself after what this beast has done to his friends. Seeing his companions recurring to violence starts his blood rushing through his veins again and without second thought attack at the monster kneeling in fron of him. "Go to Erebus, fiend!"
Long Sword - To hit [1d20] = 10; Dmg: S/M [1d8] = 8 L [1d12] = 7
+2 from FF and + whatever adds the fact that it's kneeling, blinded and not attacking anymore.

Gruesome Revelations
Freeday, 19th of Goodmonth

Andronichishche smiles wide when his plan works according to........plan. Knowing that this monster likely has answers to his many questions about this place, he pleads with his comrades to show mercy to the now seemingly helpless creature and stay their attacks. Saracen nearly craps himself at those words, looking around for whoever holds the pink powder they found earlier. Though the young priest of Rao has led this team throughout this entire complex, his friends now ignore his words completely.
Gramble and Carucenus strike again to no avail, wanting nothing to do with peace at the moment. Maag follows suit, but he too fails to injure the prone monster. Though its eyes are still blinded, the group can sense that this creature seems to actually be enjoying the pain from the blows, smiling wider with each hack as if this was its intention all along. Tlachtga steps forward, ready to strike if she needs to when Alordan finally lets out the emotions that have been building up inside the ranger ever since he set foot on this accursed island.
The monster looks to Andron and smiles wickedly, its crazed cackling the sound of crushing gravel. In a flash, it starts to phase into the stone again, quickly slipping through the floor up to its waist. It starts to speak to the priest when Alordan finally lets out his pent up frustration on the thing, hacking into its neck so hard that the blow nearly severs its crazed bald head. The creature lets out an anguished grunt that sounds like it is relieving itself before it slumps at the waist and falls face first to the stone floor, its head hitting with a dull thump. It doesn't move again, still stuck there half inside and half outside the solid stone.
Mina starts bawling uncontrollably again, exhausted by the ordeal she and her friends have been put through at the hands of this mad monster.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Andronichishche holds his chin with one hand and appears to stare intently at the floor where the creature was phasing into the rock. He doesn't move for several long moments, only once seeming about to speak by a slight movement of his jaw. Then, as if a light breeze swept through the room, Andron's clothes loosen and relax on his this thin frame; more visible now without his coat which he had used to cover Sister Theresa.
He walks across the room to stand before Saracen and begins to offer the vial of magical dust, but pauses partway. "Please be very careful with this." He glances down briefly at the now headless torso of the creature formerly known as Marquees. "I now suspect my theory about it was incorrect." Andron turns to his right, towards the tunnel to the chamber with the other stone bed. "I will check on the other captive. Rao willing, she may yet be alive. He then moves into the adjoining cave to examine the body on the slab.

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty
Motionless, but ready to strike with his sword
Lerrick
The cleric looks on at the results of the recent battle and watches the party members dismember the body. When they finish and after Mina has settled down for a bit, she looks for spare cloth in the room. After finding a piece large enough she wraps the head of Brutus in the cloth, careful to not look at eyes.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Saracen will move to the creatures glowing eyes and ask if he can utilise his light spell to cast an Augury.
He will retrieve his Minotaur bone runes and call to Pholtus for inspiration. Oh blinding light, lend me sight beyond sight. If I use this powder upon our stoned companion Crestbrook, will it revive him to flesh?
Successful augury chance 74%
[1d100] = 14
If the answer is a yes, he will sprinkle some upon the paladin, maybe a quarter of the vial. He will keep adding more until Crestbrook is once more amongst us.
If the answer is a no, he will hand then vial back to Andron, and move to the stoned Paladin’s side.
I feel we should take the statue of Crestbrook back to Beachtown if we can. It would make a fitting tribute to adventurers there, and who knows, in years yet lived, Chauncey might gain enough in power to free him from the curse. What do you guys think?
