Cool. Am I misunderstanding? I really need some strengths and weaknesses to make a reasonable backstory. A man who's strong but stupid isn't going to have much success as a merchant, f'rinstance.

You're in luck; the roller was generous; your character is exceptional in strength, agility, intellect, and personality.

For the setting I'm thinking Bronze Age Greece. Maybe that will help gel character concepts. Bran's detailed back story could fit well in that setting.

oh, so then i think i should change my name

Actual Greece, or Greek-ish? Bran is from elsewhere, so I need to figure out where. Maybe Anatolia? Enough forest for Graddad's city to be overgrown, a waterway route to Mycenean Greece.

It's easier to go with something close to Actual Greece, at least in term of geography and broad history, around the time of the Bronze Age Collapse. I'll need to do some light background reading (ancient.eu is pretty good for that) to get a better feel for the setting. I think that sort of cultural cataclysm might explain the fall of the city referenced by Bran's grandfather. (By the way, Bran would be a fine name for the setting.)

Marcus is exceptionally strong, tough, and agile. His intellect is neither impressive nor impoverished. He generally deals well with others and leaves no strong impression, favorable or unfavorable.

Pretty soon we'll have a forum for this game, and I'll post some suggested character backgrounds, starting equippage, and general knowledge about the setting and how it works. You won't know the rules, but your characters will be aware of certain probabilities. Everyone will be at a wedding wearing their best gear, whatever that is, in order to show off their wealth and might.

And for the single lads, weddings inspire lovely maidens to cast an eye towards their own prospects. Dress your best, gentlemen!

Bran is the type who would look for a good wife. Of course, he also looks after his good friends.

Ok. I persuaded Dave to open a forum for this game. The forum title implicates the rules that I will be using behind the curtain to keep the story fair. I opened a few topics under the forum and will give you all posting permissions there once we get going.

Now - let's get a confirmation of interest. Leitz, rossik, and Urson all have named their characters (rossik's character name pending revision to fit the setting). Cybersavant hasn't said much about their character at all. Do we have three, or four players?

I am interested, if you have room for one more.

What are the posting requirements?

Posting requirements ... ah, that's tricky.

I would prefer at least Monday-Wednesday-Friday by each player.

Is that feasible?

Let's have a vote. It's really up to consensus of the players, I will adjust my effort and expectations accordingly.

sulldawga's character PHY [3d6] = 6 CRA [3d6] = 11 SPI [3d6] = 11
Sadly, your character will be a bit scrawny and clumsy, of average intelligence and one who makes neither a good nor an ill impression on others.

If anyone would like a look at the rolls underlying twists and turns of fate, they can be found at campaign ID 810.

Sorry, I don't think I'll have the time to play in this game after all. My apologies.

No worries. We'll see how it goes with an artisan and two casters. Possibly less combat-oriented than I had envisioned, but still could be great roleplay. And the non-fighters are fairly comparable at low levels, anyway.

It would be a great help if I could get anyone to play Marcus Nine-toes, a Fighter who is exceptionally strong, tough, and agile. His intellect is neither impressive nor impoverished. He generally deals well with others and leaves no strong impression, favorable or unfavorable. He is the champion of the local king and chief of the village's warband. Right now he's a bit at odds with one of the other player characters, hopefully that can be resolved.
  • Marcus owns
  • an axe
  • a panoply of heavy armor
  • 3 spears
  • 6 daggers
  • a helmet ... and
  • a shield
