Looking for a (AD&D 1st or 2nd) game set at Greyhawk

I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.

Looking for a (AD&D 1st or 2nd) game set at Greyhawk

#1 Post by RulerMan »

As the tittle pretty much says, i'm looking for a AD&D game with Greyhawk as the setting. last year i bought the 1983 boxed set but never got the chance to play. i'm more inclined to accept only players and DM with more than 1 year of registration in the forum, because newer players and DM have a strong tendency to go AWOL...and no, i'm not included on this. 8-)
As for the game itself, anything starting from the 1st level would be nice, but i would like to stick the character creation options to only the core PHB.

Welcome RulerMan!
Greyhawk is a popular setting, so I hope you find a game soon!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised with the number of new posters I have playing in my games that have stuck around. It seems like this board has a much more tenacious type of poster, among both high and low post counts.

I'm glad to hear that. :)
From my past experiences in other PbP forums (especially on Giant in the Playground), most new players and DM do things in ''the heat of the moment'' and shortly after opening a IC thread the game dies. i hope this is not the case here, as i want to finish a PbP game at least once in my life. :?

Im completely ignorant of Greyhawk, which can be a good thing running a campaign /module and have only been a player here a short while, but would love to give it a go if you loosen your terrible prejudice against Noob-ites! :D

Hail and well met, RulerMan!

I agree that with pbp gaming, players and DMs going AWOL from time to time happens. But as they say, nature of the beast. We have some great and very helpful, accommodating folks here, both new and old, and most seem pretty passionate and committed about their games.

Good luck with getting rolling soon and welcome aboard! 8-)
Yosef Travathas: High Elf Fighter4/Magic-User3 (rredmond's Pacesetter Games "Legacy of the Unknown" OSRIC Playtest)
Brok Sterling: Human Assassin3 (ToniXX's Incursion into Newiron OSRIC Playtest)
Tanik Tremwoodak: Dwarf Cleric3 (Dave's 1e Skype Game)

DM: home-brew OSRIC "A New Hope to the West" campaign

Fireball... good!!

"What's it gonna take?"
"Everything."

I think you will find the average age -- and thus maturity level -- to be higher here than on giantitp. I find that helps with people making commitments to play.

I know nothing of Greyhawk so I would be a much better player than DM.
AH, yes. My post should have read:

Im completely ignorant of Greyhawk, which can be a good thing playing a campaign / module.

I'm looking to play a Greyhawk game. you might be confused because i suggested in the opening thread to use only the PHB to create the characters and also restricted the players by leaving newly registered ones out of this. but i'll take that last bit out. everyone can join, provided we can find a DM.
In any case, sorry if i not expressed myself well.

OK and good luck to you, but when, or if, the current group makes it back to The Great City, we are probably going to do a restart with new players.
