Re: [LFP/Open Sandbox] West-Marches Style Lab Lord Sandbox
It was suggested to me by someone in your game that "everyone should join this game" and I think I'll take up that advice if you'll have me that is

“All men did have darkness. Some wore it in the form of horns. Some bore it invisibly as rot in their souls.”

"If good people won’t do the hard things, evil people will always win, because evil people will do anything."

Be happy to jump in.
From what I see multiple toons are allowed but one to start
What is the starting level ?

Re: [LFP/Open Sandbox] West-Marches Style Lab Lord Sandbox
It's a good moment to hop in as a new quest is about to kick off.
Starting level is 1, clerics start at 2. (Check the Dieties thread for options there)
Multiple characters are allowed but they can't participate in the same quests. I have gotten flexible on when you start your second one: I recommend you start your first and if another expedition gears up and you want a second PC so you can join it, that's likely fine.
Post rates have slowed; the current game is weekly turns. Lots going on over the summer and we're adjusting since I changed jobs.
PM me if you're interested and I can add posting permission for you. I will also review and approve your character and request your private forum.

Are you still open?
Re: [LFP/Open Sandbox] West-Marches Style Lab Lord Sandbox
Yes.
At this point, the sandboxx has been running for over three and a half years continuously. Changes in my work/life situation have adjusted things a bit in 2019 - I'm aspiring for a weekly post-rate as GM and have limited the number of Expeditions I am personally overseeing. We've adopted a sub-DM model where different people have taken over sections of the already-discovered world and are running stories for their fellow players there. I am overseeing the world as a whole and am running expeditions that venture into the unknown.
It is a rolling admission - we're always accepting new players. You can post here or PM me. There are times that are better to join than others, mostly due to critical mass of PCs returning and setting off on new expeditions. Since an expedition on a play-by-post lasts a few months, sometimes there are periods when there's nobody to join up with for an adventure start. In that case, you can solve it by inviting friends to join with you (a group of new characters starts naturally together) or by convincing other players to make a new PC. (We allow multiple PCs per player, but no more than one PC can be on any given expedition. Multiple PCs lets you participate in multiple stories simultaneously.)
With the longevity of the game, the world has developed a lot of interesting areas. It is still a sandbox, where PCs choose the direction and scope of an expedition and drive the story by their exploration. New PCs are welcome - long-term PCs have advanced to 5-8 level which is an amazing development on its own. PCs are getting lands and titles and (when they hit 9th level) will attract followers, which is another development in how the sandbox works.
TL:DR: It's a good game, you can still join.

Re: [LFP/Open Sandbox] West-Marches Style Lab Lord Sandbox
We're making new opportunity for new PCs to help the Dwarf King clear the goblins from his hills as they establish their kingdom before winter. It is a good time to join in (particularly for good, dwarfy roleplay) and have some beginner adventures.
There is already opportunity to expand after into mid-level campaigning - see all our full details on this sprawling sandbox here.
PM me if you'd like to join. I'll get you set up and you can make your first character.

Hi Marullus,
I'm new to the forums so have limited ability to post. I have introduced myself in the welcome forums however to recap: I am an old gamer who played back in the 70's and now semi retired. I have just rediscovered the wonderful world of Board and PnP games. I recently came across Labyrinth Lord and have been playing Solo using the Mythic Emulator and some other home brew rules. While ferreting around I slipped down a rabbit hole and ended up here and behold a wonderful L.L Hex Crawl.
I have rolled a character my Dwarf named Vodam Burrowfound who is making his way to the Tavern as we speak.
If the North could use another intrepid adventurer then Vodam could use the coin.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I could be completely wrong about this but.....
The header in this recruitment thread says “CLOSED”.
I am sorry to report that I think this game might have been shut down.
I’m not sure if anyone is actually still checking this thread.

If that's true, then you're in the right forum Qren, just the wrong thread.
Plenty of other games to join: viewforum.php?f=21
This one is a great D&D sandbox that is always looking for players: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7355
Good luck!

Hi Gary/Qren,
Welcome! There's a lot of old school gamers enjoying ourselves here. Play by post forums are a great format for adults who need to space things out and handle other obligations.
Unfortunately, I did close the game with the new year. It was a good run - almost four years of continuous play for 37 players and accounting for 40 adventure expeditions.
We were a sequel to another sandbox game that ran several years prior and there's talk of another DM starting up a sequel sandbox to this one, so do watch this space.

Does this need to be moved to the 'Completed Games' section?Marullus wrote:Unfortunately, I did close the game with the new year.

A few of us are still in mourning working on wrap-up posts for closure (or maybe just I am). I'd appreciate maybe a week's delay before it's put to rest for good.

Just let me know when you're done.
