Got the High-Pro Glow? (Gamma World 1st edition) *REclosed*

Thinking about just doing it!
I wanna run a 1st edition Gamma World campaign that will be more like Defiance than the standard 300 years after world war III scenario.
THE premise will be Aliens have come and were Real nice at first. Sharing tech, helping end world poverty, cleaning up the atmosphere and oceans, ect...but this was just a ruse to get their atmo generators up and running.
Began terraforming Earth.
Nothing the people of Earth could do impeded the aliens superror tech.
The atmosphere generators they used to terraform the planet caused death in 70% of the world's population. 20% were mutated in strange and unexpected ways, while 10% were totally immune.
Right when it looked like the end, 2 slave races the visitors brought with them rebelled and destroyed the "mother ship" leaving the rest to fend for themselves.

This game will allow altered humans, mutated animals, mutated plants, pure strain humans, and as a twist, I'm going to throw in the Dralasites, the Vrusk, and Yazirians from Star Frontiers.
Oh, one important thing. Needs to be relatively fast paced so players should be able to post at MINIMUM 2x per day. No waiting a week for a character to move 10 feet!
I don't have the house rules all worked out yet but thought I might see if there was interest.

So...
Any interest?

1) My first RPG experience was Gamma World 1e (of course back then it was the only one so there was no 1e after its name)
2) I love Star Frontiers
3) I really enjoy watching Defiance

Count me in on this one!!!

No, I have never played any version of GW (but I did run a short Mutant Future game once).

It's just that I know that the editions vary substantially among themselves and the latter ones have more options. I was wondering if you were familiar with several/all and specifically chosen 1E for a particular reason.

1e Gamma World is what I cut my teeth on as well and the only edition I've ever played. That and 1e Metamorphosis Alpha. Star Frontiers came later on. I remember us being used to the twenty and then being miffed by going to percentile for SF. Not that I dislike the percentile. Top Secret came after Star Frontiers! 8-)

Figured this may be of interest to you folks:
Gamma World 1E Mutations Reference Booklet
Written by a guy over on ODD74.
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Looks like I'm getting a Microsoft Surface Pro in a week or so. This means I'll be using RPtools Maptools to display your world in posts. ROCK n roll! I've already tore apart Fallout Vegas for lots of pretty items and downloaded a gig of post apocalypse images for maptools as well. Gonna be pretty. :)

Sweet, I would love to get one of those as soon as I can scrape up the money. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it once you've played around with it for awhile.

I played with a buddy of mines surface for a day before ordering it.
I really liked it. It's honestly a bit too big (never thought I'd say that!) and a bit on the heavy side but it really is the best of both worlds.(android /windows )
He put Civ V on it and it ran smooth FPS. Good video. Powerful little device.
This is an upgrade from Kindle Fire HD which I liked as well but let's face it. Still a windows world :D

For the sake of atmosphere and mood, every player of Gamma World should check out this music video. Even if the kind of music is not to your taste...just watch it. Even the kitch production values of the video seem to scream "Gamma World!".
