To The Island!
Re: To The Island!
Keyon
Keyon's eyes widen at the sudden impact. His deep-throated laugh accompanies the cries of the passengers and he quickly scans the faces near him to make sure his comrades are safe. "Come on, sweetheart!" he calls to the beast. "Kiss me gently the first time!" He grabs a rope, loops it around his waist, and quickly secures the other end to the rail with a sailor's expert hand, making ready to dive in after any who fall overboard.
The elf lifts his voice in song, a rousing tune of sea battles long past. Brave sailors and wicked pirates, hungry sharks and rough seas.
[4d6] = 16
Dex is 18

Drakkar
The Dwarf pales visibly, as his face is quickly drained of all colour at the Captain's words. Muttering frantically in Dwarven, he rushes to grab the rail where he tied himself against earlier...
Hard Skill Check [4d6] = 10
DEX = 16
... and manages to grab it, holding to it tightly as if it were the most precious of mithril bars. He manages to croak a growl towards Keyon: "Keep 'em shark bits off yer minstrel rounds, lover bhoy!"

Hard Dex [4d6] = 10
Made it by 8. Keep firing.
[1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12 +1 more dex of 18
[1d6] = 5
[1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5 miss

Re: To The Island!
Feanol
The young wizard begins to respond to the gnome "I'm not really su.....". As the blow is struck she grabs for the nearby mast, but fails to grab it (Dex check: [4d6] = 13). Clutching for the rail as she tumbles by she makes one last frantic grab (Dex check: [3d6] = 13), then plummets into the water.
Hitting the water she will try as best as she can to stay afloat, and out of the way of beasts and ship. If there is any pieces of the battered ship near her she will make for them/it.

Re: To The Island!
Ahlmzhad, I think your second roll should be a Normal skill check [3d6]. You've rolled a Hard skill check again.
Re: To The Island!
Unfortunately I had rolled 3D6 for the second roll, and still got a 13. Didn't notice I failed to copy and paste the right result the second time. Thanks for trying to help.Baldorar wrote:Ahlmzhad, I think your second roll should be a Normal skill check [3d6]. You've rolled a Hard skill check again.

Fitz
"By the silver hammer of Maxwell the Marvelous!" the gnome exclaims as the ship is slammed and his friend is hurled overboard. He manages to keep his footing, although just barely, and staggers to the railing looking for the elven woman.

Re: To The Island!
The Open Sea
The damage to the hull of the ship after the first collision appears to be minimal, with only a few broken planks and limited water coming in. A few wooden crates and barrels filled with supplies break their support straps and go bouncing through the people on deck before crashing over the rails into the sea. Unfortunately, they take the frail elf stargazer Feanol along with them.
Keyon easily withstands the shock in the rigging when he’s spots the she elf go over the side. Immediately thinking back to an old story he’s heard about a swashbuckling hero who always saves the day and gets the girl, the athletic elf quickly uses his rope to tether himself before leaping into the sea after the struggling Feanol. Can I get a Normal [3d6] Str check from Feanol and a Very Hard [5d6] Dex check from Keyon for this action, please? Good luck!
The monster that crashed into the ship appears stunned, allowing open and easy shots on it as it bobs lifelessly on the surface. As the passengers scatter to stay out of the way of the shooters, the sailors announce another fast moving dark shape heading straight at them from third direction. The captain watches the rope uncoiling at his feet about to run out. “That one’ll be out for a minute or two, so shoot at the oncoming one if ye can!” He never takes his eye off the monster he speared, now a few hundred feet from the ship and starting to dive.
Actions!
Keyon elven thief (Paladin)
Brandy half-elven cleric/ranger (Darklin)
Feanol elven magic user (Ahlmzhad)
Drakkar dwarven fighter (Holy_Rage)
Elnaerel elven cleric (Baldorar)
Jinx halfling fighter/thief (Storm)
Fitz gnomish illusionist/thief (Hedgeknight)
The Knife gnomish thief (Jernau)

Hitting the water is shocking, and Feanol tries to make her way to one of the boxes around her, but soon slips under the water (Str Check: [3d6] = 8).

Keyon
Seeing the elf maiden swept overboard, Keyon takes a running leap--"No more sharks, Drakkar! Just pull me in once I get her."--and dives over the rail, striking out hard toward Feanol's sinking form.
He ducks beneath the churning waves and attempts to hook an arm around her before kicking to the surface.
Very Hard Dex Check (Dex 18)
[5d6] = 15

Drakkar
"Ye numb-skulled Fae! This be suicide!", the Dwarf howls, almost snarling. He studiously grabs his own piece of rope (or any other available bit of rope, if necessary chopping off sail rope with his battle-axe and ties it against the nearest rail and will toss the line down to the diving duo if and where they would surface.
"By the Gem Under the Mountain, I will skin him!", the Dwarf fumes, a series of Dwarven guttural obscenities ensuing as he scans the waters with feverish intensity.

Re: To The Island!
Fitz
The gnome runs to help Drakkar, grabbing the rope and waiting to pull with all his might.
Should the dwarf glance at him between curses, the brown-haired young gnome offers a smile and chirps, "It will be alright, won't it?"

The Knife
Taking heed of the captain's directions, The Knife races to the rail on the other side of the ship. He throws his arm over it and drags himself up long enough to hurl his final belaying pin.

+3 Dex bonus
"You know, Knife, these damn things go everywhere except where you throw them". The gnome casts his gaze around for more projectiles.

Elnaerel
Setting that Feanol is in good hands, the elven priestess decides that more hands will be more of an obstacle than anything else. So she turns to where the captain said and starts throwing more stones at whatever is there.
Sling (bullet) - To hit [1d20] = 12; Dmg [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2

Re: To The Island!
The Open Sea
The weak and frail Feanol disappears under the surface of the water just as Keyon makes his daring leap. Unable to keep herself afloat with all of the movement and splashing going on around her, the physically challenged mage appears doomed, right up till the point when Keyon gracefully dives into the sea next to her. With great skill to back up his boisterous claims, the male elf quickly has his rope around Feanol, shouting up to the rail for the others to begin pulling. Drakkar and Fitz are easily able to raise the tiny, soggy she elf back up to the deck, but their effort takes up their entire action. The battering the pair takes in the tumultuous, debris filled water is minimal. 2 hp dam each
Keyon grabs onto the second rope that was dropped to them and slowly begins pulling himself back up as well while the others rush across the deck and begin firing at the third oncoming monster. Despite their best efforts, this animal continues its collision course with the hull of the vessel, about to make contact next. Looking out over the surface of the sea, several more of these dark shapes in the water appear to all be heading straight for them.
The captain notices this as well, his trained eye still watching the beast he stuck with his barbed shaft. Once the rope runs out, the end tied to the back of the ship becomes as taught as a garrote wire. The momentum of the fleeing animal tugs the rear of the ship around wildly, causing more of the passengers to fly around the deck. Somehow, the hook isn't ripped from the thick hide of the beast, causing the ship lurch again, now being pulled off its course by the momentum of the monster still trying to swim away. The ship stops its forward movement and actually begins moving backwards through the water, pulling the target away from the oncoming attackers. The closest monster misses the side of the hull completely, much to the pleasure of the wildly grinning captain.
"Keep firing folks! If we can knock a couple more of these bastards out of the fight, they might just leave us be!" The crewmen with crossbows continue to fire at any figure that gets close enough for them to hit.
Actions!
I just need a Normal Str check from Keyon to pull himself up. The rest of you can continue firing or doing anything else you can think of that might help.

That looks more like a natural 17 to me. But it is an adjusted 20.
