To The Island!

Drakkar
"Mountain's burdens crush ye!", the Dwarf roars as he sends an arrow flying.
Bow, long, any target, Short range: [1d20+1] = 17+1 = 18, damage [1d6] = 4

Keyon
"Here they come!" The former pirate slides down a wrist-thick rope to land with a booted thump beside the deck rail. "Perhaps..." He says as he draws a heavy, well-balanced dagger--"I can find more of you in Beachtown." Keyon kisses his beloved blade and raises his arm, waiting for the beast to come within range.

Re: To The Island!
Fitz
From having his heart jump at the shout of "Land ho!" to having it jump again at the Captain's call to arms, Fitz is unsure what to do. He glances overboard...once he crawls atop a crate or barrel to see over the railing, and does indeed spy some ominous creatures swimming toward the ship.
Could they be sharks, he wonders? And if so...
"Say, what's all the fuss about? They're only sharks...right?"
Nervous and heart pounding in his head, Fitz backs away to the middle of the deck, pulling a trio of darts from the brace on his chest. Fingering the fletching nervously, he waits - his head swiveling side to side, fearful of what might happen next.

Re: To The Island!
The Knife
Though tall, (for a gnome), The Knife can't really see over the rail. Eventually he resorts to just jumping up, grabbing the rail and holding on. With only a few seconds to see his target before he loses his grip, he lets fly with a belaying pin.
Club (Non-Proficent: -4 To Hit) (THAC0) [1d20] = 13; S/M [1d6] = 6; L [1d3] = 3
+3 To Hit Dexterity bonus
"I'm not even sure which way that went", he says as he pulls another belaying ping from his belt.

You are allowed 2 shots per round with a bow in 1E. So go ahead and fire again, if you’d like.Holy_Rage wrote:Drakkar

Feanol watches the unfolding battle. She tries to help calm any of the other observers who might be getting panicky. She also keeps an eye open for possible exit strategies and options while she awaits the outcome.

Re: To The Island!
The Open Sea
A hail of arrows and bolts rain down upon the dark figure in the water as it rapidly closes in on the starboard side of the ship. Every adventurer on deck with a ranged weapon lines the rails and fires off shots at the strange aquatic monster that resembles a large black shark with a blunt, hard, walrus-like head. With arrows sticking out of its body, it continues to plow through the water, getting dangerously close to ramming into the side of the ship.
Captain Quark leaps across the deck with practiced grace towards a single huge ballista mounted to the deck at the rear of the ship. He shouts over the panicked noise already building upon deck. “We need every man woman and child that can shoot a bow or throw a rock at the rails! NOW!” He loads a large, barbed, javelin sized missile with a rope tethered to its shaft into the huge crossbow and starts winding it back rapidly as he continues. “If we can kill one of em, the rest might leave us alone! So do yer damndest to hurt one of em!”
Actions!
The creature looks approximately one round or so from making contact with the ship, so it will be in range for all missile fire now. I will assume from the captains dialogue that you will all be attacking the same one on the same side, but let me know if that is incorrect. Thanks!

Jinx fires two more arrows at the sea creature, marvelling are its speed despite the fear she feels about it ramming or boarding the ship.

Keyon
The canny elf waits a heartbeat longer and deftly launches his dagger toward the onrushing beast. A half-second later he sends a second dagger hurtling at the same monster.
To hit: [1d20 + 3] = 13+3 = 16, Damage: [1d4] = 2
To hit: [1d20 + 3] = 4+3 = 7, Damage: [1d4] = 1

Brandy
Brandy lets fly with 2 more arrow on the same one.
[1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4 arrow
Miss
[1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22 arrow
[1d6] = 5 damage
Natural 20. Right here making up for that 2.

The priestess tries her best after having seen her previous bullet go astray.
Sling (bullet) - To hit [1d20] = 1; Dmg [1d4+1] = 2+1 = 3
Oh... Oh... Sorry... Who's child was that?

The Knife
The gnome scrambles to the top of the rail again, getting a better purchase. Once again The Knife flings a belaying pin at the shape in the water.
Club (Non-Proficent: -4 To Hit) (THAC0) [1d20] = 16; S/M [1d6] = 1; L [1d3] = 1
+3 Dexterity bonus
Angrily, he snaps "Well if you think you can do better, then you try it!" He pulls the third belaying pin out of his belt and holds it in front of the knife in it's sheath.

Re: To The Island!
The Open Sea
The creature is again pelted with all manner of bolts, blades, stones, and arrows as it hurls itself through the water towards the ship. With a few blows hitting it directly where it counts, in its eyes, the water monster decides that it has had enough punishment as it dives slightly to slip under the hull instead of ramming into it. The sailors give a quick cheer as they reload and spin around to face the threat on the port side of the ship.
Captain quark shouts out again, this time with his eye pressed up to the massive crossbow at his fingertips. "Everyone grab onto something strong! This one is about to ram us!" The captain fires off his huge balista, not at the approaching monster, but at the one full of arrows trying to swim away. His huge iron dart pierces the hide of the huge fish and the thick rope tied to it begins to rapidly uncoil from the deck.
Just then, the second sea monster bashes its blunt head into the hull of the ship, sending a shock wave through the wooden timbers and planks that nearly knocks most of the passengers out of their boots. The ship skitters across the top of the water so hard that it almost capsizes before the helm regains control of her.

I need each of you give me a Hard Dex check [4d6] to see if you were able to withstand the crash. If you succeed, go ahead with your next action. If you fail the first, please give me a second Normal [3d6] Dex check to see if you can catch yourself on something before falling overboard. If you fail that roll too, let us know how you intend to prevent yourself from splashing into the sea. (or just tell me what you want on your tombstone)
