"There's not much I know about their numbers, unfortunatelly. We got ambushed by several of them, although I could say they weren't more than 7 or 8. But, of course, those would've been some kind of patrol. If they only hold one village, there shouldn't be that many, though."

Grimm looks around him. "I thank you for your words, Mr. Glansadi. Where can I find this expedition? I'd gladly eat something quick before heading to join them." He explains in short sentences to Powstap what's going on.
Sorry I sometimes don't play out everything IC and just say "he explains this or that to Powstap or to Glansadi", but I'm short of time lately and really like to keep up with the posting!

Glansandi

“I have put an elf named Darklin in charge. He has a good group organized so far and he seems very motivated. I believe you know Daisy already. They are meeting later, over there by the Hi-Lo. I’m sure anything you know would be helpful. Get a good meal Master Grimm, and some rest, then join them when you’re ready.”

Powstap snoops around the chicken coop, noting the small tracks and black rocks with great interest. “Likklenasties”. He says quietly to himself.

Grimm shakes Glansadi's hand. "Thank you for your vote of confidence, Master Glansadi. You can be sure you can also trust my friend Powstap here. He helped us a lot back in the jungle, gave us to eat and even risked ostracism by defending me. Liam can also vouch for that. Amyway, my stomach is calling me out, so I think we're just going to do th-" he turns around and looks at Powstap. "What's it, Powstap?"

Liam nods and backs up Grimm to the Constable, giving his affirmative. His mind falls on tactical matters for a moment. Do I remember right that on the opposite side of the river from that little village they are holding, that there is a narrow strip of jungle? Do you think, that a small group, armed with projectile weapons, could cross at the mouth of the river and sneak upriver under that cover? If they could it would be a great way to catch the pirates completely off guard. I don't think they would be expecting an ambush from the opposite side of where all the dangers are. Our town and the Phanatons to their West, the Natives to the North?
Maybe we can get off a few surprise shots before they begin to organize. Especially if we have one or two good marksmen. Thoughts?

He then moves to Powstap. Yes, we have had something coming at night and trying to get to my chickens. Do you know what it is or what we can do to get rid of it? he will also take a moment to check on his chickens, looking for fresh eggs as well as checking on the layer and how her eggs are doing.

Glansandi thanks the pair for their report. Nodding to Powstap in approval.

“You will be able to help us greatly in our quest to tame this land, friend Powstap.”

“I think that is a great suggestion, Liam. They would never expect an attack from across the river! Bolts and arrows flying at them from both directions might even convince a few of them to surrender without major bloodshed.”

“Perhaps you could lend your crossbow skills to the fight, Liam?”

Powstap looks around some more before replying to Liam. “Yesa!”

He starts following the tracks, walking them back to where they enter the jungle, looking at the surroundings carefully.

He thinks to himself, Stepped in it again Meadstaff... and he looks to Powstap, Dearest Elder. When will I finally be old enough to stop acting and speaking foolishly?

Powstap turns around to address the men, ignoring Liam’s last question completely.

He has a very serious look on his tanned face.

“Skeksies.”

Grimm approaches Powstap and takes a look at the tracks out of curiosity. He doesn't got a clue of what could've printed them there.

"It seems Powstap can be of good help to you, Liam. Maybe I should join this expedition while he stays here with you? He's had too many adventures already... And I don't think he's as young as an 80 year old human. Or whatever you humans consider to be young."

Since I've still got two days before the expedition departs, I guess I could post in the two threads at the same time?

Yes. Please.

As long as it isn't too confusing for you, go for it.

If we can continue to juggle these, I would like to have Liam join them on a hunt if that is what I am understanding is going on.

So long as it doesn't interfere with the pirate expedition.

I am not sure what you mean by "join them on a hunt".

I dont mind if you guys tie up a few loose ends in town after your character has already departed on a quest, but I wont be running simultaneous missions for the same characters, if that is what you are asking.

Powstap looks around at the tracks a little longer before leaving the jungle and heading back towards town.

"Disa no good. Ya dont want dees tings roun ear! Dem like a swarm of ovasize locus."

"Powstap stay ear an keep dem away till ya get bak! Mi haffi tak to dis constable sum mo, anyway."

"Ya good wit dat?"

Liam

Misunderstood what you were setting up. This works nicely.

Liam will nod and thank Powstap.  He will show him where he keeps his rations in case the native gets hungry but also gets with Joe to make sure he works with Powstab and brings him a share of whatever the Cooks are preparing tonight.  He will also get something else out of his supplies...  The large animal trap.

Friend Powstap... Here is how this works... You set it like this... and you can cover it with sand.  Put a bit of bait here if you like...  and let's say this stick is one of those Skeksies you mentioned... dut dut dut.... he touches the stick to the pressure plate and springs it with a loud snap on the stick.   What do you think?

Since there's not much that Grimm can do now in town, it's ok if I just let him rest, eat, etc. in the two days before the expedition that's taking place takes place?

That sounds weird.

Powstap enjoys a nice meal with Grimm, Liam, and Raythan before they leave for their overnight mission.

When Liam shows the native around, he seems astonished at the size of the mans house and buildings.

"Disa one big hut could house haff we village."

When Liam gives him permission to stay there while he is gone, the native happily accepts. Once he is shown how the animal trap works, the native's eyes light up like a child on Christmas morning. It seems as though he has never seen anything quite like it before.

"If one a dem skeksies step in dis, dey gonna be sorry!"

"Powstap stay ear an keepa eye on da place while you gone. Mi tink mi haffi likkle talk wit da council while you away too. Disa ol place could use some work."

Powstap practices with the trap as Liam takes his leave, reciting "dut dut dut" each time he springs the trap. He seems almost enthralled with the traps simple mechanisms.

"Good luck, frens", he calls to the backs of the adventurers, barely looking up from his new prize.

Grimm chuckles seeing Powstap so entertained. "Be safe, friend. See you when we're back." he turns around and goes to have that meal and a much needed rest.

Grimm's eyes turn wide at the realisation, but quickly reassures himself. "Don't worry, he's a smart one." he looks up at Liam, the shadow of a smile half perceptible behind his bushy beard.

I will write any of Powstap's discoveries up in the Beachtown thread since Liam is now away from home.
