Notai

Hearing that the evil is spreading causes her hair to stand on end. She waits a moment or two longer after the circle of speech ends before leaning in. "Even creatures of Chaos are fleeing from it. That alone does not bode well for all. Some of us argued that we should not allow the humans to enter the ruins, leaving me as the lone survivor of my tribe was too high a price for the truth to be known."

"If you permit me to ask, I would know the questions asked and riddles returned. Also, how far has that blight spread from that accursed city, enough to make a crude map? Shared knowledge may save us all."
It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Zellar

The dervish nods to Feargus and Mardan Cy.

"Very good. Establishing order and furthering the purpose of civilization is right and noble. These new lines of communication between Kimrid and the Scarlet Prince will be invaluable in the war against the beastkin."

She thinks a moment about what Feargus has said regarding motivating his fellow adventurers. "Your companions... is it something different that drives them? Gold? The accumulation of worldly experience? The pursuit of magic?"

The Sisters Three

"I am afraid we cannot share with you the answers, nor even the questions, until we have spoken to our Queen," says the first, "it is regretable, but necessary," says the second, "however, we can share with you the map that we have," says the third.
Give me 'til tonight to get the map edited and I'll post that.

So that's 1200gp in total. Does Newton think it's reasonable offer?
I still owe you an answer here. Will get that ASAP.

Newton looks up from his empty mug and realises that Feargus is missing, talking to the woman who entered the Inn earlier. He makes a diversion on his way to the bar. "Hey Feargus, I'm getting another round, do you want your usual?" he smiles at the woman "Good evening, I hope I'm not interrupting. Will you be joining us, can I get you a drink?"

Zellar nods to the scout. "One of your companions?" she asks Feargus before turning fully to Newton. "I am called Zellar, a child of Kimrid and servant of Mnencir, blessed be His countenance. Thank you for your offer, but I have brought my waterskin. How are you called? What brings you to fair Kimrid?"

Newton

"I'm Newton Longville, called Drakesbane by some...well not by many actually, but I'm hoping it'll catch on" he grins "I'm with Feargus, we're part of the Company of the Scarlet Warriors, although I'm actually a scout. We've been escorting a representative of the Scarlet Prince here to Kimrid. We've got a few days to explore the place before we decide what to do next. You should meet Ribar, he's a cleric of Manifest"

Feargus

"Yeah Newt...one more for me. As for what motivates us...that's probably too personal of a question for me to generalize across the group. For my part, I see my aptitude leading me in a direction to make a difference during this cycle. I wouldn't call it altruism exactly. It's more like what I'm good at is giving me opportunities that are exciting and profitable and pushes back Chaos."

Zellar

"Most interesting." Zellar mulls over what the adventurers have told her; though they may not share exactly her ethos, she senses that even a base desire for monetary gain will naturally lead to the vanquishing of the servants of Chaos - not to mention that the temple is always in need of monies to further its mission.

The dervish draws herself up, decisive. "If it would suit you and your companions, I would join you when you leave Kimrid. It is my intention to sound the forces of Chaos and bring to them death and destruction. I have no doubt that you will meet these evil servants no matter where you go next. I believe I would be a great asset to your company, for my skills extend to both the field of battle and the mystical realms of the gods." A slow smile tugs at the edge of her lip. "I would, of course, require an equal share of the treasure - for the glory of Mnencir."

Fourthmonth, Twentysecondday

Over the course of the evening the adventurers find themselves enriched with two maps, one courtesy of the Sisters, the other from Zellar. Zellar is able to fill in some of the details of the land surround Kimrid, although most of the information she possesses has been pieced together not from personal knowledge but from the tales of merchants and travelers.

The Sisters Three

A map is spread out in front of Notai. "Isendan is here" says the first, pointing to the hex labeled 218.94. "The red line is not what we know, but what we suspect," says the second. "Rumors and tales," says the third, "whispers carried by those fleeing whatever it is".

Torthuk Three-toed

Torthuk nods and excuses himself into the back of the shop. Several minutes later he returns, with two scrolls and three books. One of the scrolls is written in the Common tongue, and contains the following spells:

Magic Missile
Shield

The second scroll is written in the tongue of Faery. It doesn't look like it contains spells, but directions. It will require more time and study to figure out exactly what it is, for the tongue of Faery is labyrinthine and inscrutable.

The books are threefold:

*The first is bound in brown leather, and in a language that neither Telemachus nor Newton can read. Neither can Torthuk, apparently. "It came from a trader from Gifukrum.
*The second looks to be a journal, written in Common. At a brief glance it looks to be a traveler's journal, detailing an exploration.
*The third looks to be a treatise on the ruined city of Isendan, written by a sage about three hundred years ago. Who knows how current the information is.

Gardo

While the group pours over the maps, Gardo absentmindedly scratches his head. As things start to wind down, he looks to the trio. "Okay, I can understand not sharing information with others until it has been cleared by the boss. Believe me, Mariusz and I know all about telling the boss first. But, here's the thing. If you are willing to share that information with us, how will you get it to us? Notai knows how bad this thing is, I can only guess at it. From how she acted, to me it seems that everyone should be aware. So, I thought you should give it a little more thought before you say no. If it is still no, then if you can figure out a way to get us the information after you have spoken with your queen, I, and possibly many others, will be grateful."

"So, what do you say, good ladies?"

Yup, everything is a 6-mile hex unless otherwise noted.

The Sisters Three

"I am sorry, but we make a habit of not trusting outsiders," answers the first. "If this is truly something that concerns you, we can discuss it in the Gynarchy. Otherwise, you will have lost nothing," says the second. "The answers we received will be meaningless to you, anyway, I would suspect," says the third, "as we do not understand them, either." The first one speaks again. "Meet us in the morning, at first light," she says. "We will give you a token that will allow us to enter Beoae unmolested," says the second. "By journeying to us you will prove you are in earnest, and will do much to earn our trust," continues the third.

"Perfect. I'd suggest getting a move on then. I'll be pushing our colleagues to hit the road as soon as they show up. Speaking of which, where is Gardo and T?"
