CLOSED - Adventures in Cyradon - Closed

#1 Post by Golem »

The world has forgotten. The old things are gone. Many great nations have fallen. In the deserts of the south, the priests of the current empire forbid magic and the worship of the old gods. In the east, armies gather and jockey for position, laying waste to all they fight over. Wars crash like waves over the land. People die.

But what if we could remake the world anew? What if the old magics and the great beasts of the sky were not as forgotten and lost as the bards' tales make you think? What if they merely lie sleeping in a land long lost to legend? What if you could come through warfare and death, slavery and suffering to find someplace new where you could make a new life, yet have this place be older than the oldest stories told at your grandmother’s knee?

Far away, under a sky filled with unfamiliar stars, stands an ancient city built in a time before the empires of the north fell. Nestled in a mountain range at the center of a vast desert wasteland, the city is carved into the remains of a dormant volcano. In the highest reaches of that city, in rooms carved from the mountains, the Gryphons watch and wait... Cyradon is waiting. The long forgotten things stir in their sleep.

Cyradon is meant to be a swashbuckling, romantic, fictional setting. Player Characters in Cyradon can make a difference. The fate of the world does not rest upon the shoulders of the player’s characters, but their actions can certainly shape the future of this rediscovered land. The player’s characters will be the focus of the adventures: there are no ancient gods stalking the earth, no satanic dark lords, and few high level characters.

The players can make dozens of different character types, from the ancient elvish warrior fighting to protect their lands, to a grim Skaldi tribesman, far from home but burning with a rediscovered idealism. Play an elvish Sithi tracker or a gruff, practical Dwarf of the mountains.

Glorious adventures await. Explore the vast central lands of Cyradon, hunting the Aberrations and making war on the cursed Schirae tribes. Scale the sharp peaks of the mountains, seeking out the lost secrets of a forgotten race. Delve into the ruins of the elvish cultures of old, seeking treasure, magic and wisdom. Travel east into the lands of the Elves and play the games of court and intrigue. Explore the city of Belynar and help rebuild it, shaping it to your will and creating a city whose name will become famous throughout the world.

System: Rolemaster Classic. Players will need RMC Character Law to generate their characters. If you don’t have it, I can help guide you through character generation.

If you like a little crunch, then this is right up your alley.

Just a note to be a bit careful here.

It is certainly acceptable to assist players and guide them through unowned or unfamiliar rules, but, according to the 'Rules of etiquette at the Unseen Servant,' point four, in part, reads:
"Also please no posting links to copyrighted documents (e.g. scanned rule books), not-free software, etc. If you’re not sure if you should post something, then it’s probably a good idea to NOT post it."
I can assure you this will extend beyond just the sharing of links to content, but also include attachments or uploads of salable products into forum posts as well.

Just exercise some discretion here is all I'm suggesting.

I'm interested :) I have the core RM2 books and some of the companions. Should I try and get RMC?

From what I’ve seen they are very similar.

There's not a lot of difference, no. RMC is mostly cleaned up, and doesn't have all the stuff from the companions.

Are you still recruiting for this? What is the posting expectation? I could do one or maybe two substantial posts a day but can't commit to back and forth posts on the same day. I do have the books.

I would submit a character if still recruiting.

If you're talking about this recruitment post (changing it from 'Recruiting' to 'Closed,' that's actually something you do by editing the Subject of the initial post.
