After more research, I am tipping more to a sister variant called HARP (High Adventure Role Playing) which is much better to understand and use along with its unique campaign setting Cyradon. I am at the point I really want to run a game. For those interested it is a good game that we can learn together. Character creation rules are free.Golem wrote:Is there any interest in playing a more crunchy style game say, Rolemaster? I think with PbP it would be easier to run such a game.

HARP works fine for me, as well.

You might want to consider creating a specific recruiting post for this game, and moving it out of this more general 'What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)' post. It will make it easier for players to find your game, especially in the future once this discussion (currently on page 22) gets buried.Golem wrote:I am at the point I really want to run a game. Any interest in either a Torchbearer or Burning Empires campaign? I think they're both well-suited to a PbP campaign, given their focus on taking discrete steps that advance the action.

never played Torchbearer, but would love to
Re: What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)
I'd be interested in a Torchbearer game!
Re: What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)
I am always in for Torchbearer.

Re: What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)
It looks interesting, I haven't played but would be willing to give it a try.

I'd really like to play in a megadungeon campaign, if any of you fine DMs out there might consider running one!

FWIW—
The pace of play-by-post is so slow compared to tabletop games that even one-page mini-dungeons seem like regular modules, and regular modules can resemble "megadungeons." So you might consider joining a regular old dungeon crawl game, even if it isn't a "megadungeon."

I would agree with Zyhm on this, a standard module will probably take over a year to complete at PBP speed. A group that I play with often on this board and what was GoblinoidGames played through roughly 4-5 modules over 8 years with the same characters. Characters went from 1st to about 12th-14th level.Zhym wrote:FWIW—

If you really have to have the mega experience, I know there is a least one Ruins of Undermountain campaign on the board right now. You might want to see if you can get in.

Ahh that's a really good point, I didn't consider that!spanningtree wrote:I would agree with Zyhm on this, a standard module will probably take over a year to complete at PBP speed. Re: What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)
I'd love to play in a western, Boot Hill, Aces & Eights, GURPS, doesn't matter to me, the genre is more important than the system. I'd prefer a straight, non-magic game but if we encountered the occasional thing we couldn't explain I'd be down with that.
If the only thing someone is willing to run is Deadlands, The Sixth Gun, or Black Powder Black Magic / Dark Trails I'd play in fantasy western as well.

I would be down for that, as well. There was a western game that ran for a little while on here, but died off. It was fun while it lasted.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

I joined a Boot Hill game last year but work and family health got in the way after the opening gunfight and I had to drop out.

I would play in a western for sure. I was in the Boot Hill game last year and it was fun while it lasted.

Re: What would you like to play/run? (Interest Catch-all)
I have never GM'ed a play by post game before (I've been GM in face to face and online VTT games) but if no one else steps up over the next week or two I'd be willing to try. I wouldn't be able to start prep until after December 15th so we'd be looking at December 20th before the opening post. At that point depending on what folks wanted we may be better off starting after the 1st of the year.
I'll wait a couple weeks for an experienced PbP GM to step up, if not I'm willing to give that buckin' bronco a ride!

I'm interested in playing in a western game. New to pbp, however. What game?

Welcome Isungr! Great to see you here.
Not sure if I said to you already, but we do have a two post approval policy - it's really helped with spammers. After your next, approved, post there won't be any delays to your posts, and you will be able to PM and play in games.
Again well met and welcome!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
