CHAPTER 3: Into the Vaults

• ~ The mummy shifts north to get a clear shot at Knuckles. He hurls two javelins, missing with the first but striking with the second! (DMG 5) The wainwright is skewered by the missile weapon and topples over – DEAD! The spider swarm collapses onto the floor and their bodies roll and rattle like gravel across the stone blocks.

Zeek targets the javelin-slinging mummy and throws his spear true to target, striking the wrapped kobold through the ribs! (8pts + 4pts = 12pts dmg) Wrappings fall off of the mummy and it appears to be hampered by the long weapon sticking through both sides of its chest! (-10 movement penalty)

Anne tosses her torch into the swarm of spiders near Ruby’s body. It lands on the floor among the fallen arachnids, but she realizes they are now merely inanimate stones!

Einstein runs over to the stage and tries clamber up and get behind cover.

OOC: Einstein must roll his agility or below to make it onto the stage and behind the urn; 13 or below on 1d20. NOTE: He may still use his Luck to affect the die roll.

Arya charges the throned tier in a zig-zag pattern. She leaps for the raised floor and tries to confront the mummy chief!

OOC: Arya must roll her agility or below to successfully transition from the lower floor to the upper stage and make her attack; 9 or below on 1d20. NOTE: She may still use her Luck to affect the die roll.

If he gets a chance, Einstein will attempt to grab the mummy, and wrestle it to the ground!

Einstein leaps up to the platform and rushes the mummy. He tries to wrestle the animated dead, but the kobold corpse pushes him away!

Arya gracefully negotiates the elevated floor and makes straight for the javelin-pierced mummy. The elf rakes the back of the wrapped corpse with her dagger (3pt. dmg – DEAD!), shredding the desiccated kobold and dropping it to the floor – DEAD!

Zeek recovers one of the javelins from the north stair rubble, and Anne joins the others on the raised tier just in time to see the mummy fall.

Dart swoops and chirps as the battle subsides. The room is silent and the tiny stone spiders lie motionless on the stone floor.

Betty finally enters the room and stands next to Tony. Knuckle’s torch burns on the floor next to his lifeless body.

Anne reaches the top, and laughs at the mummy
"Ha! The chaos god have you know, cloth monster!".
She will search for treasures in his throne.

Zeek will get his spear back. "I will name it...Quickbite!" say proudly. The farmer thought that all this was too crazy. He goes back to see the pebble spiders. If they are of any value.

Arya laughs as the dust settles. She collects a javelin, hefting it for weight and balance.
Dart lands on her shoulder and mutters in her ear.
Arya picks up one of the stone spiders, examining it closely.
I'll keep watch in case something else comes to bother us. The rest of you go ahead and search for valuables.

Frustrated at the loss of another friend, Einstein pulls at the door next to him, planning to go into the "inner sanctum".

Anne searches the throne for valuables. The chair is carved from oak that has been fire preserved. The surface is covered with a web motif inlayed with silver. Two palm-sized silver orbs are set into the arm rest. The racks that popped out of the sides hold 1 javelin on each.

Zeek and Arya examine the stone spiders. The pebbles are made from semi-precious stone, carved into the likeness of a spider. The tiny segmented legs have fallen off, so only the body remains.

Arya checks out one of the mummy javelins. The weapons are of a utilitarian design with an iron head and bronze shaft.

Einstein approaches the north stone door behind the throne. The monolithic block is hinged with iron plates on the right and a bronze handle to the left. No locking mechanism is present. The gambler pulls with all his might, but the door does not budge.

Anne take the silver orbs for the group treasure. Ater making a holy sign to the web motif, she will take a javelin and see whats up with the door. Is it stuck? Of the leaver didnt moved?


Zeek will not take the spider pebbles. He figure it out that maybe they can come alive somehow, so better not taking any chances. Instead, he will take the valuables of the fallen ones, and after that, will check the mummy for treasures from the past.

Einstein will examine the handle and hinges carefully. Is there sign of any scratches on them, or wear, that might indicate that some object (like one of those spears?) might need to get slotted in somehow?

He will call over to Anne "Try sitting in the chair and touching the balls! Maybe they'll open up the doors!"

After done all things she intended, she will investigate the throne for traps on the sit, back and arms

Arya adds two of the javelins to her personal armory, then joins Einstein at the door. She will likewise search of latching mechanisms.

Tony and Betty stroll over to the Mummy and casually examine the creature without touching it. Tony prods the thing with the tip of his sword, even attempting to unwrap more of the thing to get a better look at the Kobold husk underneath. Betty cuts off a length of the wrapping and gathers some of the creatures desiccated skin and deposits both into a small bottle which she returns to her bag.

Anne moves to the throne and tries to take the silver orbs, but they are fixed into the arm rests. She heeds Einstein’s suggestion and sits in the chair, hands on the spheres. She grabs the left (north) one and tries to unscrew it with both hands. The orb turns and she feels it activate some mechanism inside the throne.

As Arya and Einstein examine the right (north) door, they hear a mechanical ’CLICK’ from inside the monolithic block. They both pull on the bronze handle, and the hinged stone block rotates on its iron hinges out and into the throne room.

Anne searches the rest of the throne for hidden compartments and panels.

Zeek collects the valuables from his fallen comrades and then checks the four mummies on the lower floor for items of interest. Tony and Betty join the corn farmer at the mummies after Tony grabs Knuckle’s fallen torch. Prodding with his sword, the minstrel unravels one of the mummies to reveal a desiccated husk of a kobold. Betty collects a length of wrapping and some of the dried skin. The trio finds a silver chain necklace with a polished agate around the neck of the mummy closest to the throne.

OOC: Anne and Ayra add the iron and bronze javelins to their inventory.

Arya pulls the door all the way open, then looks inside by the light of Einstein's "lamp". She makes sure to stay in the throne room.

Einstein stands behind Arya, holding up the light, curious about what lies beyond.

"oooh..." Say the rice farmer. So maybe the other one opens the other door. But she will let that for later. She will see what the group finds first, in case the door needed to be closed.
