If we run away and either they follow, or they continue on to whatever their original objective is a couple of us can break off and circle back for the fallen.

It is abetter plan than all stand here and die.

I think they are here to get something form the goat myself.

Only problem with holing up in a wooden house is...

Well, this:

Doesn't take much to light up the walls and wait by the doors for the rats to run out.

We can wait to see the outcome of this round anyway - you never know we might have done some good damage

there is a large group coming, we have to retreat, fighting withdrawl!
Actually, I indicated in your thread that Epsilon and Strom will be able to rejoin the rest of the group next round, not this current one.

At least for now, this needs to be disregarded.

Another lucky round and Grim can run north to at least provide another target and maybe take one or two with him to the throne of Gruumsh. Unlucky round and the olive skinned bezerker goes to see ol'one eye alone...I think the DM (in all his splendid glory) meant for us to take another route. Lol! Either way I'll be awaiting Alethans "I told you so's" as he shakes his head sadly. :D

Ha! I'm far from a perfect gamer. I make a HUGE number of bad decisions. They are usually just tempered by humor. Just ask Desmond/Mondes, my two-headed halfling in WaysOfTheEarth's game on the ODD74 forums. He didn't start off with two heads...

So you won't ever catch me saying, "I told you so..."

To quote a bad line from The Dark Knight, "Why do we fall down? So we can get back up."

The fun thing about RPGs is you just have to roll up a new character. Hell, I often have just as much fun making my character as I do playing him. It's sometimes unfortunate when you have so much invested in one already, but... that's the way it is. I wouldn't play if it were any other way, in fact.

That is what I fear... The sad truth is that the benefactor sponsoring Ewell is over leveraged in ten foot poles. Apparently the market has tanked, and he needed Ewell to bring in some income. Now... well, Ewell's unknown twin brother may not be as strong or ambitious. In fact, he may end up being a sneaky little back stabbing crook.

agree that pending the outcome of this round, it may be time to have some folks grab the incapacitated while others provide covering fire and make that strategic withdrawl to a building (not the Goat) and regroup.

I will accept the blame for this. I was a round off in my post. Epsilon and Strom will arrive in round six, not five.

I am on the Kindle, connected to my work's guest network, so I cant easily update maps, make rolls or compose long posts, but you guys won initiative and Kaltar and Grimnail have each killed their targets while Ewell heavily damaged another. I won't attempt to make all their attack rolls now, but so far, so good.

Round 5

#172 Post by dmw71 »

Recovering from his terrible miss with his last action, Kaltar sets himself and swings again, crushing his opponent (e9), send it crashing to the ground. One of the remaining opponents (e11) wheels with its javelin and manages to stick the holy man (-4) in the gut. Ewell also successfully strikes his foe (e5), but it remains standing despite being seriously wounded, and continues to flail at the knight, catching him with a claw (-2) (Note: Ewell is still functional, but cannot attack unless/until healed).

Alordan continues to battle the heavily wounded troglodyte he's been matched up against (e10) but the scaly beast continues to to be able to hold off the ranger with its javelin... and then some, piercing the wounded woodsman (-4). Garth, too, is unable to successfully strike his adversary (e12), but at least manages to avoid being struck himself.

Grimnail bellows a mighty roar and manages to violently strikes down one of the troglodytes he's facing (e2) with his secondary axe attack. The two remaining troglodytes appear hesitant for a moment, but continue their attacks. The first (e4) lashes out with its natrual weapons, all of which the barbarian is able to avoid. The second (e6), however, continues the string of good luck demonstrated by the javelin-toting swamp beasts and catches the half orc in the arm (-5).

I will need an initiative roll for round six, as well as declared actions and attack/damage rolls. Strom and Episilon arrive and can also take action this round.

Kaltar seeing no other option swings again at the beast in front of him:

Mace Action To Hit [1d20] = 20 Dam [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

This came at a great time. Make sure to make an extra to-hit roll to determine the type of critical.

I've never really understood this ability, but I interpret it as providing you with an opportunity to escape, as opposed to falling unconscious. So, no, you can't really stand there and continuously parry, but you can defensively withdraw.

Strom runs in full steam the engage the nearest Trogs, the ones attacking Ewell and Kaltar. With a cry of rage from seeing innocents die before him Strom gives everything he has to his attack:

[1d20] = 17
[1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5

hey DM, it's not spelled out in house rules for two-weap fighting but are each weapon strike made on seperate segments and if so is it possible to attack 1 foe and if he falls attack the second with off hand? If so I will continue to split attacks like that.

Grimnails muscles find a surge of adrenaline in their bloodied state. With a desperate growl, knowing his death is near, flings caution to the heavens hoping to end these filth before succumbing to his fate.

Grims Dual Hand Ax#1 [1d20+4] = 11+4 = 15 Damage[1d8] = 4 Hand Ax#2 [1d20+4] = 13+4 = 17 Damage[1d6] = 3
