IC
Re: IC
Aldus looks at the rain-slicked walls and shrugs in resignation. He wanders over to join the others in the alley. "Good evening, guardsmen. You'll want to get the word out to your comrades to beware the monster's drone. It has a stupefying force that renders the doughtiest insensate and bewildered.
"Say, has anyone inspected that door?" Before the guards ca object, he slips through the open door to investigate, waving for Wulfka to follow (assuming that Wulfka's previous action of alarming the neighbors was scuppered).

Feargus
Eyes red, Feargus grunts, "Thanks, comrades. Almost had me there..." He spares a glance at Goshawk's form. "Somebody hand me a bow or something. Mine is with my horse and it might be best if I don't go in swinging. I'm still feeling a bit light headed. Newton - You got anything I can use if we go down there? Elsewise I'll cover our backs."

Re: IC
Ribar stops Feargus before he exerts himself
"You're not in a state to do anything, hold on..."
He'll cast cure light wounds.
Newton sighs "I guess it's too late to do this quietly. Take my bow, and try and keep away from the thing."

"Go ahead, I'm right behind you."
Telemachus grabs another torch and lights it. He then palms another oil flask and follows Newton.

Ribar prays to Manifest and touches Feargus's wound. The warrior feels marginally better, but he has still been gravely wounded. Newton and Gardo take a quick look at the ladder leading into the cellar. They slope away from the alley, down into the basement, so one could easily descend without turning one's back.
As they do so there's a flash of movement, a susuruss of sound, and the shadows on the far wall shift slightly, as though something moved, just around the corner and out of their vision.

Re: IC
Feargus
"Thanks for the healing." He's a bit unsettled as he feels the skin start to knit together under his armor. "I'll be right out here. You need anything, just yell and I'm charging in."
Feargus will look for a spot near the door that he thinks he can remain hidden and within earshot. If none exists, he will stay immediately adjacent to the cellar, eyes pivoting, weapon up looking for the beast.

"Why don't me, Gardo and Aldus go down and flush it out, hopefully we have it trapped. Feargus and the gaurds can cover us from here with bows. But first Feargus needs more healing..."
He casts CLW on Feargus.
Re: IC
Gardo
"Aldus, get over here and follow. Let's go men. Notai, stay out here and watch our backs please." Gardo jumps down to the left side of the opening and gets into a defensive stance, ready for a possible assault.

It's hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.

Re: IC
Round Eight
Newton reaches out his hand and intones a quick spell, and the unseen corner of the basement is lit by flickering lambent light. There's a squeal, and the droning sound of wings, but nothing emerges into sight. Gardo descends the short ladder, covered by his comrades. The droning intensifies, but the warrior has grown accustomed to its noise, and is unaffected.
Without warning, a voice fills Gardo's head, high-pitched, like the whine of a mosquito circling one's head: "Let me live, mighty warrior, and I will grant you whatever riches you desire!" The others hear nothing.

Gardo
He quickly moves his head back and forth to try and figure out where the sound is coming from. He stops and looks into the darkened room. He speaks out, head swiveling, trying to speak to wherever the other voice may come from. "Whatever riches I desire? I've not really thought about that much before. How would that actually work? No strings attached? What about the others?"

Newton, descending the stairs, hears Gardo call out into the darkness. What he says doesn't make sense, though. It's as if the warrior was engaged in conversation with someone else. Suddenly, there's a flash of movement, and the front part of the cellar is filled with an eerie green glow as, from around the corner, the frightening creature emerges and half-flies, half-scuttles towards Gardo and Newton.
Perhaps its telepathic entreaty was meant in sincerity, but, being a creature spawned from Chaos it changed its mind or grew bored, or perhaps it was intended all along as a distracting feint. Regardless, a creature with the bulk of a small pony is bearing down upon Gardo; Telemachus and Casfrea witness this from where they stand, at the top of the stairs, in the alley.
"What's going on down there?" asks one of the guards, "I've got a bad feeling about this."
