Hi all~!

#1 Post by Hrafn »

Seems I mistakenly missed the "post here first until we know you are not a robot" missive. Which is somewhat mean, but since most of the games I've seen are 2e and earlier, I don't suppose consideration for war forged is a priority? :P

So, hello! I am going to go by Hrafn here (Raff'n), and came by on invitation. I aim to play and learn Adventurer Conqueror King, get to know this site and group, and possibly play or host other games in about that order. I cut my teeth on a mish-mash of AD&D 2e, but spent my youth reading the old AD&D 1e books in used book shops, and they had an impact. So I like a lot of what I remember of old school gaming, even if my experiences are narrow.

Now I've done my duty, I'll turn the tables! A question. This site is far more rigid than those I'm used to, which looks to make for good gaming. Perhaps disciplined is a better term? Regardless, it makes me somewhat wary of stepping out of place, so what might the local S.O.P. be? I see the dice roller and macros and such, but I've never had experience with such, it went right over my ebon-feathered head! How does that work? Though I don't think this game will require them on my end...

Excellent for once I get to beat Alethan to this!

As for rigid, we are pretty PbP focused, but also pretty tolerant. Unless you have a .ru account and are hawking handbags and/or Viagra. Then notsomuch.

Welcome again! And interesting post in the Suggestions forum. Didn't understand a lot of it but I'm just the social worker here. ToniXX is sure to catch what your throwing. :D

Be well!
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Glad to see a sense of humor, gentleman.

And thank you twice, Redmond! I meant to mention catching your hello from before, but it slipped my mind.
I have gone through the New Posters threads, the macros just threw me. I assume the dice roller keeps a database of it's randomly generated rolls, organized by character, and the macros allow linking directly to the roll while also making the RNG generate the roll? I unfortunately keep coming to check when I should be heading to bed, and the concept just bounces right out of my head. It's my weekend now though, so I'll give it another read when I'm in a better headspace.

Thanks for having me!

No, not quite.

All rolls are saved in a searchable database. Roll results display code for posting them into the game thread; these codes are always available for the roll. Macros are used to easily repeat rolls a character might often make, such as an attack roll with his main weapon or an initiative roll or a saving throw roll.

On the main page of the Unseen Servant dice roller site are links to help docs that should answer your questions.
