Gardo

"Well, what do you want me to do? Get a look at this thing up here or not? Don't think that door is going to stop anyone or close itself back up easily." Impatience tempers Gardo's voice.

Telemachus

"Gardo, you should totally step up on the dais and then open the sarcophagus. I'll just be back here... really far back... watching to see how you do. Go get 'em, tiger!"

Telemachus heads back to the first room.

Aldus: "In which case, allow me to inspect the dais before we proceed. I'll need both hands, so if someone will kindly hold a torch?"

Aldus will go inspect the dais, the statues, and the sarcophagus for traps, mechanisms, and unusual signs of wear. He will not attempt to open the sacrophagus.

Feargus

"OK - looks like we are going to try to crack this thing anyway."

Feargus and Goshawk wade into the room each standing within striking distance of one of the statues. If need be, they will both help Gardo slide over the lid of the sarcophagus.

Newton

"Whoa, hold on! Give Aldus a chance to check the dais is safe first. It's probably best that everyone else waits in the other room until he does."
Newton will get Nald to wait in the other room

Yeah sorry, I thought Aldus already checked it out.
Feargus

"Alright Goshawk, we'd best get out until Aldus is done. Then we can help Gardo."

The Burial Chamber

There is confusion in the chamber, which is made even worse as Aldus approaches the dais and two figures -- with peat-dark skin pulled tight over bones and and remnants of ancient bandages clinging to their gaunt frame -- emerge from under the water and close to attack those nearby!
Rolled on my phone for surprise, got a 6. At this point Aldus, Feargus, Goshawk, and Newton are in the water.

Telemachus

The mage stays put, knowing his spells are near-useless against the undead. He drops his pack and pulls out some oil flasks and a tinder box. He holds one in his hand, setting the others on the ground.

"Casfrea, get in there and see if you can help."

Newton moves to stand next to whoever is closest, axe ready to strike when the undead come into range.

"Together, try and gather together, back to back. Nald, we need you in here!"

Feargus

Feargus looks at the horror rising from the water and says, "I was wondering when you will join us."

He then begins swinging away with his mace.

Likewise, Goshawk repositions so that he can bring his polearm to bear in the small room and swings at the nearest shape.

Round One

Before the adventurers can react the two undead creatures close into melee. Both of them target Goshawk; the doughty warrior avoids the blows from both creatures' fists but the other catches him square in his chest, causing him to cry out loudly in pain. Though the figures are emaciated and gaunt they are possessed of a preternatural strength!

Goshawk suffers 10 hp damage. EDIT: Goshawk negates the successful attack. If you have not declared actions you may do so now and I will roll out the rest of round One.
Mummy hp: 23, 29
Mummy's attacks: Aldus, Feargus, Goshawk, Newton:: 2#1d4 3 3 2#1d20+5 6 23 2#1d12 6 10

Aldus: "Oh dear oh dear oh dear!"

He shoves his "sewing kit" into a pocket and readies a bow. He studies the soggy mummies for a minute, making sure he has a shot that won't endanger his comrades.

Gardo

Seeing the creatures, he leaps to the attack, aiming to attack from behind. "So you were hiding! Scared of a fair fight?"

Round One, cont.

Aldus looses an arrow; the shaft flies true but shatters on the tough hide of the creature. Gardo deals the second one a mighty blow -- his blade bites into the foe, although it doesn't do as much damage as he would think it should. Goshawk, too, deals one of the creatures assailing him a fell blow with his polearm, but the cutting edge just skitters along its mummified skin. Aldus has better luck, and his axe carves a hunk out of the first creature. Feargus misses entirely with his mace, and Casfrea wades into the water, drawing her blade, but slips as she swings and does not connect.

Nald observes the scene, draws out the symbol of Sabeth from under his jerkin and holds it forth, commanding the creatures to retreat. "Sabeth holds no sway over them," he yells, "what do you want me to do?"
Don't forget the fighters can automatically negate one successful attack against them once per day. Goshawk is going to take advantage of this and negate the successful attack against him. It should be apparent to the PCs now that non-magical weapons have no effect against these creatures . . .

Newton

"Fighting retreat! If we draw them back to the door we'll have a pinch point. Nald, we need flaming oil, use the flasks in your backpack"

He'll attack the same mummy he hit last time, and make a controlled retreat towards the door, assumedly alongside the others.
is there some kind of parry option for those unable to damage the mummies?

Outside of combat maneuvers, no. A fighting withdrawal (moving at 1/2 speed) can be performed to withdraw without penalty, otherwise combatants gain a +2 bonus to hit fleeing opponents.

Feargus

"Afraid my mace ain't hitting these things. Back toward the door. Goshawk - Get back into the entry room."

Feargus will make a fighting retreat toward the door and keep barking at Goshawk until he does likewise. As one of the sturdier targets, he will do his best to keep his body and his shield between the mummies and the non fighters in the party if he can't make it to the door.
