Roy drinks his coffee and replies to Julia "Yeah it's a start alright Julia. A bit more than my mind can take. But we've got smarter folk around than just me. But yeah you know about what happened with Frank Sr. on that paying job but fortunately Bur didn't get the scoop so we got some good press for once. Any word on how Jason is recovering?"

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams

Lionel fills Julia in on the happenings last night. I'm not sure she knows about Frank Sr. yet, Roy. Anyway, Julia, we had that job at the Warehouse last night. Turns out there were actually two ghosts- Griff, who was actually trying to keep the other ghost in check, and a malevolent spirit, who Etta and Roy were able to get into the trap. Unfortunately, Frank Sr. was there, attempting to rid the Warehouse of the ghost on his own, and the excitement was too much for him. He ended up dying, and his ghost and Griff disappeared, their work here finished. He takes a bite of a donut. By the way, we are all currently suspects in his death and can't leave the area. Finishing the donut, he continues. I'm gonna go play with the reporters. I gotta run this donut off, so I'm going to see how bad any of them want to try talking. I don't think anyone'll be able to keep up, but I hope they try. It'll be fun. With that, he puts his ear buds in and heads out to put in a couple miles before it gets really hot.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. Julia blinks and shakes her head. Wait... Frank who? I don't know... the guy that owns the business? What happened?
...By the way, we are all currently suspects in his death and can't leave the area.
Julia WHAT?! is she shocked? Scared? Angry? the answer seems to be yes. :)

Julia watches as he strolls out the door as she stands up and leans forward on the desk looking like she is ready to leap out and stop him but he shuts the door... so Julia slowly turns her head to stare down Roy. Full explanation... now.

Yes! This played out perfectly! Sorry (not really), Roy, but you did start talking about it.

Roy gives his own look of innocence and explains a bit more to Julia "Hey it was the paying job Etta had for us. Didn't you mention she had a paying job. The place was supposed to be empty then Frank Sr. busts out of his office with some old vacuum strapped to his back thinking he's his own ghostbuster and is acting all crazy like he'll take care of the ghost himself. I just tried to talk the man down then the hostile ghost came in and I think the darned thing scared the poor man to death. Yes we're suspects but we all gave the honest account of what happened and the same officer from the coffee shop was the one on scene to take out statements. I've faith that our honesty and the truth will remove us from that suspect list once they get the coroner's report."

Julia just stares at Roy for a long moment and then sits back down with a groan. Great! This is great! Just what we need! You guys better pay me before you get sued! she shakes her head again in disbelief turning on her computer.

She then looks over to Mac. Jelly and cream cheese pastries. They're delicious and still warm...

Then once her computer is up she wastes no time pulling up the working apps she needs but then starts going through online news sites. Guys! Look at this! They are live about this!

Channel 4 News Live Stream from the Coroner's Office:

Reporter question: Can you comment on the death last night?

Coroner: Just hold your horses, folks...

Reporter 2: Can you confirm that it was the business owner, Frank Henry, Sr.?

Coroner: Yes, that is correct. I was just confirmed by investigators that I can release that information, which is what I am trying to do now...

Reporter: What role did the Ghostbusters play in this murder?

Julia groans and shakes her head, putting her palm to her forehead. I'm going to have to move...

Coroner: There was no murder! If you would just let me talk, dammit!

Reporter 3: What was the cause of death?

Just then Mayor Sanders pushes aside the Coroner and speaks into the mic. Casue of death?! The man was 97 years old! There's your cause of death. Now I have it from the highest authority, the Mayor says holding his hand "up to god" as he looks briefly at the ceiling. That te ghostbusters are in no way responsible for this man's death. Unfortunate as it is, tha an accident may or may not have happened, these boys are free and clear. The old man, God bless his soul! Was quite literally scared to death by the ghost that my ghostbusters captured last night. They are Heros! And tonight, on the news, there will be video evidence aired on Channel 4 News when it is released by the Fort Smith PD at that time. Now, have a good weekend everybody! And remember!
Life is worth living in Fort Smith!
he flashed a politician's smile and walked off stage to a flurry of reporter questions before the coroner slowly returns to the podium.

Reporter 2: Can you confirm those statements, sir?! Did Mr. Henry die of natural causes?! Is there such a thing as scared to death?!

Coroner: Stumbles a moment. Well, technically... yes. It was Cardiac Arrest... so yes... a man his age put into a certain level of stress... can put an adequate strain on the heart to induce that, so in a sense, it is Scared to Death... but that shouldn't be an official c.o.d. since...

He is drowned out by the reporters yelling questions and then the coroner steps off the podium and Officer Hightail steps on, looking tired but imposing as he holds up his hands. Everyone goes silent. Apparently, he was well respected by the press as well. Okay, folk... I want to make a couple of things clear. As an acting investigator on this case, I can tell you officially that the Old Fort Ghostbuster and individuals that were both involved and connected are innocent. This is not being treated as a homicide or incidental death. This was a simple case of bad timing. I am also asking on behalf of Frank Henry, Sr.'s family, that they be allowed the privacy and respect while they morn the loss of a father and grandfather. He was a pillar in the community and lead the union of industrial workers since 1963, to improve and protect workers not only in his own company but everyone in industrial work in Fort Smith and the state of Arkansas. Thank you.

The officer steps down and the Live Stream after a few moments ends.

Julia looks up at Roy and Mac. Well, overall that is good news, right?

Joker
Joker has been lurking nearby. He sips his coffee and makes a face, mumbling something about how weak it is.The little I heard from the elder Frank suggested that he might have been responsible for the death of a thug many years ago. Should we mention this to the police?
He steals a second powdered donut. If I am needed for anything, I will be examining the Containment Unit. I am sure that Roy dealed with the problem- but I would not be doing my job if I didn't confirm it.

Before he starts at the Containment Unit, Joker will start a "proper" pot of coffee in the common room. He makes his coffee like they do in the military: a pound of grounds in a pot of water and boil it until a socket wrench floats on top.

He soon starts his diagnostics on the Containment, Turkish covers of classic rock songs blasting out of his iPod.

Wow, I can remember my grandpa saying something to that effect. He served a few tours in Korea after narrowly missing the Pacific War due to timing and then went on to serve 42 years before they forced him to retire. He was a career man and loved everything about the US Army.

Etta, not being a resident of the firehouse, shows up a little late, getting dropped off by her daughter. She sighs deeply at the sight of the reporters outside. "How much media does this town have?" she wonders to herself. Sharpening her elbows, she prepares to plow through the crowd, when she Lionel emerge, distracting the reporters enough for her to get in unscathed.

She greets the others, noting that Julia looks a little freaked out. When offered a pastry, she says, "Thank you, honey, but I can't make a habit of eating like that at my age." She pulls a tupperware container of oatmeal out of her wheelie-bag. "At a certain point in your life, regularity becomes a greater luxury than jelly-filling."

Catching the new livestream, she sighs again. "The Mayor is a bastard, but, at least for now, he's our bastard. He'll do what he can to protect us for as long as he finds us useful."

Rubbing her temples, which are already threatening to start throbbing with stress, she says, "Okay, well. We need to keep the money coming in, because that's the only way we'll ever get the Mayor off our backs. We need to sit on the invoice for the warehouse job for a few days, until we see how this resolves, and if Frank Jr. still blames us. And this might not be the most auspicious day to go drum up new work. So, that means we tackle the job we already have on the docket—back to that burial mound. I think we should all head out, wearing the thickest boots in Arkansas.

"I don't know much about snakes. Will they be less active if we go out around noon, when it's hot?"
She checks her phone. "Nope. 'Snakes are most active between 80-90°.' Another night job? We'll need really good flashlights to see what we're dealing with. And.. wait, did your mission notes mention something about tonight being the full moon? And that was connected to whatever was happening out there, right?

"Okay, maybe Mac and I should spend the day researching native history and traditions in the area, and try to get us a head's up on what we're going to be facing out there. Does that sound okay to you, Mac?"

Roy smiles sheepishly at Julia until she sits down and puts the news on. After the broadcast he flashes her his best smile "I told you we were in the good, thank God Bur wasn't reporting. But I still don't know that I trust the mayor." he finished the reaches for one of the still warm donuts and finishes his non-military coffee. "Wonder if we can get some good Italian espresso around town.."

What's Up with Jason and all this press?!

Getting Hotter Outside, Humid

Etta wrote: And this might not be the most auspicious day to go drum up new work. So, that means we tackle the job we already have on the docket—back to that burial mound. I think we should all head out, wearing the thickest boots in Arkansas.
Julia smirks On it! she sits down at her computer and starts typing away. Snake... Proof.... Boots... You can get some in town. There are a few places that sell them. We have a lot of outdoor stores since so many people hike, hunt, fish, camp, or just work outside in general. she makes a face as she looks over the list of places. I found some here in town for...$35 each. For six pairs that comes to... $210 total, but let me see what I can do...

She calls up the store on the phone and proceeds. Yes, I would like to inquire about a pair of snakeproof boots, specifically the OnGuard knee boots, Skew number 899081433. Yes, the ones listen at $34.95. They are in stock? How many? Perfect. Our company is needing to be reoutfitted with that boot, please. I will need to secure at least 6 pairs. No, but we would like to open an account. Before we get started, would there be any kind of discount since we are a local business and are buying so many at once and will use you as a supplier? as she pours on the charm...
Cool v (10) w/ Spec. Silver Tongue [5d6] = 22 G: [1d6] = 3 8-)

The smile tell you she knows she got it. Yes! Thank you so much! Is there an email where I can send you the sizes we need?
And does that also come in a wide? It does, perfect.
she gives him all the informational stuff for the business. I am also emailing your store contact listed with a pdf of these details as well as one about the size dimensions for each of our employees.
Great! Thank you so much! Yes, sir, you have a good day, too! What? Yes, sir, I am sure I can promise a discount for your store and employees as part of the agreement in the future. Perfect! Hav a nice day!
She puts down the phone and jots a note on her pad of paper and looks up like she is the cat that got the canary. $210 worth of boots at $155 sound good? He also wrote off taxes so that is a little more than 25%.
Roy wrote: Wonder if we can get some good Italian espresso around town...
Julia jots that down next and nods. I'll put in the request. I am sure Billy and Jean would be happy to do that for you.
Their new place is looking great by the way. Well, repairs I mean. Insurance paid for everything. Speaking of which... I need to do out end of the paperwork for last nights job, whether we are getting paid right away or not.
That seems to be her cue to get busy with other things as she turns to her computer and begins working through another of her various open apps.
Etta wrote: And.. wait, did your mission notes mention something about tonight being the full moon? And that was connected to whatever was happening out there, right?
Mac will remember that it correlated with the New Moon which is tonight.
Etta wrote: Okay, well. We need to keep the money coming in, because that's the only way we'll ever get the Mayor off our backs. We need to sit on the invoice for the warehouse job for a few days, until we see how this resolves, and if Frank Jr. still blames us.
Julia Overhears this even as she is printing out the hard copy of the invoice and nods. No problem. I'll file this as pending payment

Then the phone rings. Julia answers as always. Old Fort Ghostbusters. Yes, sir. she goes a little wide-eyed and looks over at Etta, Mac, and Roy. Yes, sir, just a moment. She puts the phone on hold. Frank Henry... she looks unsure who to hand the call off to.
