Ferrol

Ferrol watches with slight amusement as Stubble tries to do good and stuff an entire duffel bag into his backpack. "Hold on mate. Since you need your hands free for smashing and shooting, I can carry the bag."

Ferrol does gather the remains of the hands for later study.

Rexlin and Fishy

To the other as they arrive. Hey... we found a cell and opened her up. Nothing but a bunch of rags there, but they were covering up some fancy disk in the floor. Makes you dizzy as hell when you look at it.
Recon it might be worth something?

With a flash of his daggers, Zoggrot tries to stab both the "surviving" hand and the toad.

Silvered daggers, melee, two-handed vs. S/M (THAC0 20): [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 [1d4+3] = 4+3 = 7 [1d20-1] = 8-1 = 7 [1d4+3] = 3+3 = 6

Slipping the strange bar of soap into his pouch for later study, Siggard is relieved to see most of his crewmates returning from below. After inquiring what had happened to them, the wizard feels like this strange phenomenon bears investigation. He looks over the others and agrees that the afflicted should move above to get some fresh air while he and Gin (and Rene, if he will come) walk over to the stairs for a listen below.

If they don't spot any danger, Siggard takes out his magic candles and hands one to each of his friends before lighting them. "I have no idea what these do, but I think they are meant to protect us from such things, so.....let's find out if I'm right."

With one candle in hand, he takes the lead in descending the malicious stairs. "If one of our group starts acting odd, the others should bring him back out of here right away, including myself." With that, they are the next ones to attempt entry into the lower levels of this vessel.

Iggway is so confused as to what’s going on, but her pride gets the best of her, she feels the the need to investigate how these events are happening and why... I’m going back down, you may need my “turning” expertise, I did help get rid of that monster!

Guineaman fun

In the prow cabin, Goldie is shocked in his mind by the eye-boggling antics of the slimy toad and combined with the eerie atmosphere, a ghostly cloak and severed hands, it all becomes too much for him and he runs trembling down the cargo aisle towards the others in the stern store area. He looks frightened and pale as if he has 'just seen a ghost', with his heckles rising and he quakes in the arms of Old Plighty on the ascending staircase. Zoggrot, made of sterner stuff is not affected by any such effects and attacks with his mini-blades. He pins the left hand as it leaps to the ceiling where it's unlife ebbs away. The toad dodges being stabbed and with a croak from it's bloated throat leaps from the swivel chair. The 1/2 orcs infravision catches a glimpse of it hopping away but then it suddenly blinks out of sight, a rustling on floor papers is all that is heard. The crawling claws are dead and the cloak is on the floor. The room is dark but you sense no new threat in the room.

Fenis, Pocc, and Geoff return to the top deck. It is as you left it. The night air is cool and there is a slight rain. Many dark birds roost in watchful silence, the skeleton body of the former captain De La Vega is still at the foot of the main mast and the crucified form of the tribal chief is still nailed to the remnants of the aft mast. A cannon points ominously at the wreck of the stern cabins but it is unloaded. Jellified ooze bleeds in acidic lumps as it rots in the stern hallway. The officers cabin windows remain locked. Of the three ghouls, there is no sight or sound. Sacked up goodies and the bone pile of Mr Bojangles remain in place. The ship reeks of rot and decay, unearthly groans seem to echo each time it ebbs on the harbour waters as the ship bobs slowly. Pocc still has no memory of the last 24 hours but is otherwise physically unaffected.

Rexlin and Fishy discuss the merits of ripping up the engraved sigil on the cell floor but once covered again their migraines recede. With Goldie fleeing the far cabin, the doughty duo go to assist Zoggrot in case of any urgent need. They strike a few candles to illuminate the cargo hold and cabin. Stubble and Ferrol pack up their trove with greedy eyes.

A group decide to descend the short flight of steps to the lower deck. Alderhay converses with Thierry the militia guard. He comes up from below, sheathing his dagger. "I had almost given up on seeing any rescue party. I feared the walking dead above and the nightmares below. To survive I sheltered hidden in the bilge sump while my colleagues were taken. I only had my remembrance of my family left to me, all faith and hope had gone." He takes from his bulging pockets some brick sized leaden blocks. Scratched in the surface are the names of his wife and children. "To take with me to a watery doom if I had the chance." Alderhay roll me a 4d6 vs intelligence check please

Coming down the stairs are Siggard, Van de Poel, Rene and Iggway. each has a candle, the last of the warding ones bought by the mage from St Eustatius so many days ago. The green seaweed like algae has roots which come from under the staircase and small buds of nibbled sprouts dot the tendrils along the growth. Fenis has harvested a few portions of sprouts which Pocc has identified as having healing qualities, a small +1hp remedy. (5 portions are in the jar carried by Fenis who ate the other portion as he gathered them on the steps).. The jet black, briny moss glistens with an inky sheen and has also been nibbled in places. Pocc was not able to identify it. As the group descend, several large rats scurry away from the candlelight, sploshing in patches of damp amid the bunks and stores below. The deck is similar to the one above but slightly narrower and shorter. A large central cargo / bunk area and at either end are two closed doors. A small trapdoor in the floor opens to a bilge dump and the bottom section of the ship.
okay team, next actions please.

Zoggrot, wondering if there's something about the cloak itself that is unusual, takes a closer look.

Alderhay

"Let me help you with those", he assists Thierry in removing the bars from his pockets as he guides him up the stairs, trying to surreptitiously slip them in his own "Let's get you out of here and back to your family"

Siggard does a triple take when he spies the non undead militia guard walking out with Alderhay. He wonders if that used to be his zombie friend. Holding his candle up close, he looks carefully at the confused man, trying to determine if he really is what he says he is. The mage then takes a closer look at the growing plants, tracing it down to determine where it is rooted, in hopes that the entire plant can be taken out and transplanted.

"Now stay close, mates. I don't know what these candles do, but I think they are supposed to be used together, so don't go running off if you can help it."

The wizard motions for Gin to check out the trap door in the floor, which he does, opening it carefully if he can.

Are we now on the lowest level? If so, is there anyone else left on this level? I thought Zoggrot and his group were down here somewhere too.

Alderhay makes his way up the stairs with Thierry in tow. He watches the pirates suspiciously, keeping them at arms length with his sword and dagger.

"I don't know what you've done to us, but we're leaving, don't try and stop us."

His intention is to leave the ship by the quickest route.

Pocc goes back to figure out where Iggway is since Iggway was the one suggesting to flee.

Loaded up, and muttering under his breath, Stubble readies the pistol in his belt, gets a good handle on the morning star, and follows the troupe heading down-stairs.

Pocc "Sorry for all the running about I've no idea whats been going on how did we get here?" the seadruid says admitting perhaps to himself that he has no idea what's happened for the last day.

Ferrol

Ferrol is about to follow people down the stairs when he sees the newcomer ascend. "What the hells? He's alive? Alderhay, what's going on?" Ferrol decides to stay on this level and moves to the prow cabin to aid in the search.

So did Stubble allow Ferrol to take the duffel, or did he carry it deeper into the undead ship? :D

Alderhay waves his sword at Ferrol

"Back off elf. I said we're leaving and no-one is going to stop us, sorcery or not.!"

he continues to head off the ship.

edited, sorry Alderhay, but your memory loss means you have forgotten about the promise with the tavern wench. :D

From the DM narrative, Stubble and Ferrol are sharing the load. Feel free to advise otherwise. :)

okay I will try to solve any confusion. Below is the plan of the ship as posted in the forum.

The main deck is 1 and where you all came on board, except for Rene who sneaked into the prow cabin 5 from his canoe and Siggard who floated to investigate the forecastle deck 7 before descending the balcony and going through the door under the bowsprit and open deck area 6. There is a trapdoor in the centre of this room leading down to 10, which is clerically warded and covered in heavy chains. Zoggrot is in this cabin where a severed hand wrote on the papers on a desk and a croaking toad scared Goldie.

Rexlin and Alderhay did stuff by the mainmast, the former captain De la Vega, hung in the foresail shrouds while the ochre jelly laired on the stern deck 8 until it leaked through the hole blasted in the floor from the cannon fired by Stubbles treacherous hand. On the mast on this deck is a skeletal figure, presumed to be a tribal chief of the slaves.

Area 2 is the stern cabin hallway where the ghouls attacked, leaping from the four cabins in the hallway. Area 3 & 4 are the Captain and officers rooms. Of the four unnumbered rooms, right top is a chapelFerrol where found the Morningstar, right hand bottom is the descending stairs to the middle deck, left side rooms are kitchen gallery and store room. Geoff and Old Plighty remain on guard here while the party explore. The three surviving ghouls fled through the windows of these cabins to hide under the jetty.

Area 9 is the stern store area and divided from the cargo area by a thin wall. A separate picture of this room (complete with gingerbread ghasts is in the forum). The severed hand band played in the very rear room, Rexlin opened the cell side room and Stubble charged the ghasts in the central area before fleeing and then Zoggrot shot one at point blank range. Zoggrot and Goldie with Alderhay and Clod went to listen at the prow cabin doors to room 10,but only Zoggrot and Goldie entered, Alderhay instructed Clod to lead the way down the steps to the lower deck, area 11.

Pocc identified the fungal sprouts on the steps going down as edible and with a small healing quality, but could not identify the other glossy moss growth. A lot of people have gone up and down or stayed on these descending steps even though they only descend 8 feet or so to the next deck. During the descent, Iggway,
Alderhay, Pocc and Roger-snake head were subject to some effect which has meant they have completely lost all memories of the last day, including memorized spells. Clod got turned by Iggway who fled into the darkness of the lower deck cargo area 11 and was attacked by an unseen figure in the dark, who turned out to be Thierry, the lost militia guard captain.

Alderhay and Thierry have retreated back to the top deck intent on leaving the ship.
Zoggrot is in the prow cabin, middle deck 10
Siggard has taken a group to explore the lower deck 11

A few people write actions as "I follow so and so", hence the going up and down or back into rooms.

Hope that helps.

Stubble gave a loud whistle as he stood at the rear of Siggard's group. "Come along, let's stick together. If there's something here then best face it all at the same time. Come along; against your better judgement, likely."

After Zoggrot inspects the cloak, he searches the rest of the room.
